Just some family thing holding me back before final confirmation. Those that want to go faster and have a more sportier ride i am guessing Roamer or some one else from up north might post up a ride sooner or later. (since Tpace is chilling off )
  3. hahha Dan, i will surely go exploring when i have lot more time. when ever the time is a restricting factor i just ride. But every ride i put up i make it a point to take different routes and never the same ones. And in between explore a little bit. There is still so much in ohio i havent seen. Gotta hit some well known guaranteed fun roads as well. So its an eclectic mix Come on now u cant lie that u were bored the last ride Great, i will let you know Jacob. You might be bored with the pace thou. Not yet Brian, need to get all those guards and stuff installed before i even give it a shot. Possibly next year. And after i ride some short routes to get comfortable with. I will surely be pming you for more
  4. When I say west I really mean south
  5. Oct 4th Sunday Ride. Meet: Canfeild Sheetz : 4585 boardman Canfield Rd Canfield Oh 44406 Time: 9:20 : kick stand by 9:30 Passing through Amsterdam Ohio by 10:45 / Can wait for us in the marathon at 43 and 164 Second meet spot for western and more northern folks: Marathon gas / 77 N Bridge St SW Stone Creek, OH 43840 Time: 12:15 kick stand by 12:30 Route: https://goo.gl/maps/zhiiFwFh1c22 Possibly will tweak the route based on how the day is progressing time etc. We will take breaks close to 70 or other major routes heading west so those folks can break off in the middle of ride. Speed will be moderate. More touring than sport but Will not be ideal for new riders. Many roads in the route have fresh pavement with some gravel still in them corners. Weather will be cloudy but no rain and in the 70s
  6. yes fun bike, even though heavy it has low cog compared to the others. But to me it feels like it excels in city commute situation with mighty MPG and ease of handling etc.Power to weight is still bad, But for longer and fun stuff the others are better. i kinda formed an impression like this Nc700 - High MPG, good storage best for commute and urban Versys -Most reving Fun in twisty single day road warrior Vstrom- Most reliable middle weight tourer multi day multi purpose soldier
  7. Still keeping it clean around 4-7 rpm till 1K plus I am coming from a zx, so the difference slaps me in the face. But I am more happy
  8. thx guys. I just got couple of days to ride it. Since buying the bike its been raining. (i know its my fault ) Hopefully can try out some minor mods i did to it, plus have to hit more interstate to get used to the weird glide feel. So far i am getting used to it on the back roads. Its really is a fun machine. Did some short distance two up as well. Little guy struggled a bit in some steep sections. But otherwise very easy to handle despite the load and very comfortable for the passenger as well. Bubba, I was really torn between the versys and strom. But mainly the older design which i like much better. But int he end more cards stacked for the strom. I would also echo the opinion from others. If more performance u want its better to step up to the big players, pound to pound and bang for buck and cluster bomb proof reliability wise i think the newer stroms are better choice.
  9. yea been reading about them all over the forums. It was a tough call to go with the storm, mainly because of better two up comfort. Or else i would have pulled the plug on versys. For some reason i like that goofy cyclops look of versys For now, planning to go through all the remedies one at a time starting from the cheapest to the higher price Brian, i might take u up on that. Cant do heavy duty stuff yet as i am not familiar with it. But eventually want to try some light duty offroads Josh u would have loved the storm for its tall seating. I am barely flat footing.
  10. Thx guys, Loving the bike so far, very easy and friendly to ride. Just have to get used to the body positioning and raised 19 inch front wheels. Main issue I deal with is wind buffeting, not just my head but as if whole bike is being blown around constantly during highway ride of anything in the 70 plus speed. It's hard to explain, just feel like the bike is floating on ice and is gliding left and right at times
  11. Apparently he was bragging he was carrying or something and he caught those guys and warned them with his gun. Did I get the story wrong. He kept telling and none of us was listening.
  12. That kid who showed up was trying a John Wayne style walk up and talk
  13. Jeff was riding that Harley really well, beautiful bike but when he saw all the little mosquito bikes buzzing around he might have wanted one himself symphony of Suzuki sixs There were so many great photo ops today if only we stopped. Leaves turning color already, it complements with the new road yellow line and contrast with the new black pavement
  14. Home safe, great day to ride and good ride guys
  15. Havent seen you out forever, i fear this might be my last ride for the season. Hopefully i can get couple more before snow. Wish i could, but thx for the invite whaler. Hopefully once i am well accustomed to the bike i might venture out more. Ride safe.
  16. I was gonna see if any one was even interested since this was very late notice. We Usually meet at canfield sheetz gas station, it's right at 224 & 11 Meeting at 10:00 am (I specify am just for you Dan since ur creature of the night ) Route will be just around 250 plus miles Will be trying to get back home by afternoon Pace will be very conservative as I am still in break in period. I wish mods could move this to rides section I feel embarrassed that I put it here after 5 yrs daaang haha
  17. Daaaang, was on phone and didn't check carefully
  18. If any one interested in a ride tomorrow plz let me know. As of now might be leaving canfeild area around 9 am tomorrow and return by 4ish. Gentle pace as I still haven't broken in the bike yet
  19. Thank you guys Don't buy anything Brian, don't fall into the trap again. If your strong stay away until u really can't go on without it like jerry said I was really in so much trouble like I couldn't even sleep without making a good decision and finally was like, that's it gonna ride no matter what
  20. Ever since the spontaneous decision to buy that Zx14 things been different. Its almost like an evil omen took hold off me. Its nothing to do with the bike. Just that it was wrong timing, being a new father, rebounding with this bike, temptation to go faster, every thing went crazy. The day i bought the bike to home my family was like "it looks like the devil is sitting in the garage" lol And may be it was the influence of that bad omen that made me make the infamously crappy thread that got me nominated for the asshat race The zx will be the first and last shortest bike ownership ever for me. Anyways long story short, ever since my son was born i have been fighting the "inner fear" when ever i am riding. Always in double mind, always rethinking, never fully enjoying riding like i used to the previous years. But after seeing Jerry switch to a Vstrom from the hawk plus test riding that bike i realize may be the comfortable balance is in that kind of different riding. We used to do ride on the edge and was lucky all these years, certainly it was fun. Didnt want to push that luck anymore. Sold the Zx, and just like i feared kept looking through CL and Cycle trader etc. I knew i was going to rebound now or by next spring for sure. i thought, better to do this right now during good deal time as i dont have trailer etc to buy during winter. And there it was a good deal just siting right there close to home, just went to see the bike and after 4 hours i was riding it home. But this one will be staying with me for years like my VFR. Again sorry for the old crappy guess game. No more guessing game here is the bike 2015 Vstrom 650 ABS regular model. As i cant do multiday trips any time soon, will be setting this up for one day long rides. More touring than sport ride. More breathing fresh air than slicing through them. More enjoying the view from upright sitting than tunneled focus on the road ahead. More endorphins than adrenaline
  21. Very nice, looks like beautiful day and awesome ride
  22. I will def contact you if and when the track bug hits me Might just restrict myself to the track. only time will tell. Even reading these gives me a headache, i am so weak and lack understanding when it comes to these financial number crunching I wish i could go on without having another debt piled on, but isnt owning better than renting in the long run? At least its some sort of saving/investment I am already on CL, its a huge struggle to fight the temptation. and this time dont want to jump on to some random bucket list bike.
  23. Thank you. More than the bike it's my state of mind of new parenthood that's making me uncomfortable Prolly won't buy any bike for some time until I am really ready to ride
  24. Offer in/ accepted/ now for inspection Thx for all the suggestion every one. Agent was awesome, went with low ball and bought the price down a lot. By myself like my bike deals I would have paid way more than needed. Ps: bike sold as well bike less for now
