Got a card in the mail yesterday. Total liquidation. Says up to 60% off. Proly after raising the prices. Gonna head up after I finish this last cup of Joe.

My new tires for the Hawk did not arrive yet. It is raining so I don't feel so bad. Sad news is I did not get to see Pauly wiggle his money maker yanking on that bar to install the new one.

I have to say that this guy cover all the bases pretty good. Having dowels machined is a great idea and would be awesome if you could have it done on the cheap but not necessary. A rod type setup like in the other video could be utilized. Personally I have never had issues with utilizing the marks on the swing arm. They may have not been perfect but never caused a problem.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4Dw2RZlUoUY&autoplay=1 You can make tool out of a coat hanger and wire tie. Inquiring minds want to know....tire pressure you run and how even the alignment marks are on each side of the swing arm? Also do you have one side pannier loaded heavier than the other?

http://www.superhawkforum.com/forums/modifications-performance-29/lithium-battery-experiment-over-32615/ I'm gonna just leave this here as food for thought. Also, Battery Tender(brand) now makes a lithium specific charger. If you decide on a AGM battery and do use a Battery Tender Plus. Go to their site and read what they say about bringing to life a new battery. The example they used took about 48 hours. I posted the answer below. http://www.yuasabatteries.com/pdfs/TechManual_2014.pdf Download this. It is all you need to know about batteries. One thing to remember is the most important thing to do for long life is to properly put it in service. Background: The motorcycle dealers receive batteries from the manufacturer in a dry state. The plates are dried out, and there is no acid in the cell compartments. (Do not confuse this with a dry-cell battery.) The dealer must fill the individual battery cells with acid and then put them on a shop charger to pre-charge prior to selling them to a customer. As the batteries arrive from the manufacturer, the plates are approximately 80% "formed". The initial pre-charge, post-formation charge, or more correctly, formation-finishing charge, must be conducted at a specific power level and for a specific time period. Each manufacturer has its own recommendations, for example one manufacturer recommends that the charger deliver a constant current equal to 10% to 15% of the battery amp-hour capacity and that the charge current be applied to the battery for a period of 5 to 10 hours. Answer 1) Certainly if the dealer has properly pre-charged the battery after filling it with acid, then the answer is ABSOLUTELY YES. Answer 2) If the dealer has not properly pre-charged the newly filled battery prior to the sale, then the answer is YES, WITH SOME QUALIFICATIONS: Qualification A) The Battery Tender® Plus should be left on the new battery for a minimum of 24 hours on float, in addition to whatever amount of time it takes for the charger to get to the float stage. It is not clear how to correlate the 80% formed plates with a given state of charge once the cells are filled with acid. To be safe, assume that the batteries require a full 100% charge after the cells are filled. For example, a 16 Ah battery will take about 13 hours to get to the absorption voltage (constant 14.4 Volts). It may take another 6 to 8 hours to reach the float voltage (constant 13.2 Volts). This may sound awkward; because what happens is that the battery charge current drops while the absorption voltage is held constant. When the battery current drops to 0.1 amp, or if 6 to hours have elapsed at the absorption voltage, the charger automatically switches its output from 14.4 V to 13.2 V. So it may take the better part of 20 hours to reach the float stage. Add another 24 hours to that and you are at 44 hours. Throw in another 4 hours for good measure and you get a nice round, even 48 hours, or 2 days. Qualification B) Although there are probably several charging methods that will be equally effective, regardless of who manufactures the battery, in the interests of technical consistency, they will not officially sanction any initial charging method other than those published in their technical applications literature.

Another option is one of the super zoom cameras that have come out. I have this one and am still coming to grips with all that it can do. It is an option if you don't want to go full DSLR. 24 x1200 MM opticle lens that can be digitally doubled to 2400MM. I carried around a bag full of lenses in my film days and it was a PITA. 24 to 1200 MM in one package is pretty sweet. 1080 video and macro as well. Watch this guys review and read the comments. He sold me. He is a photographer and I felt he gave an honest review. Also do a google and you tube search. Check out some of the zoom tests on you tube. Quite amazing for a package this size. Just another option to confuse you. Search Canon SX 50.

unOFFICIAL FALL Epic Ride - Saturday September 27
Al Z. Heimer replied to DerekClouser's topic in Events
Thanks Derek and crew for setting this up. The route was stellar. Was nice to put names with faces and see some guys that I haven't seen in a while. Nice job Hellmet for the tow and Shadyone for putting up with me in the rear. Tossed NinjaDoc a couple texts thru the headset when I had service. He really wanted to make this but his plate in Detroit is really full at this time and just could not pull it off. Missed you Homie as did many others. We will ride together again someday. Only 540 miles for me but throwing that whale around whipped me more than the 1100 miles we did for Sorebuttapalooza earlier this year. -

unOFFICIAL FALL Epic Ride - Saturday September 27

Listen up Tim-O. If my old ass can ride from the Iron Horse Lodge in North Carolina to Lordstown in one swoop on my Super Hawk surely you can do this. Good way to find out what you need to work on in the comfort department. As far as your ass goes----don't wear your BVD's. The seams will feel like you are sitting on stones after awhile. Get some cycling shorts. Powder the shit out of your bits. Like your gonna roll out some pizza. Baby powder works but Anti Monkey Butt Powder is the bomb. As far as trailering goes......we can hook it to my Wing and you can ride Bitch down and feed me grapes and rub my shoulders. It will be fun. People will stare in wonderment. Get this ride in your head and make it happen. I miss you. -

I agree. Spear Fish Canyon was the Boner Maker though. -
http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/Honda/honda_vtr1000f_%2001.htm This pretty much says it all. Except the statement about the tires(yuck) and soft luggage. Did a Deals Gap trip with tail and saddle bags with no issues. It is not perfect but damn is it a hoot to ride.

Good call Boss.

Jerry is shopping. I need something newer than 12 years old. LOL!

Road the 07 , 09 and fjr1300. May pull the trigger on the FJR. Really liked the riding position. Great motor. Wind screen sucked even with it being adjustable.

Gonna head over and give this a shot. Got the ok from the war department for another bike. Hope it is available to ride. Old guy. Little to no gray hair. Black OR t- shirt.

Time to upgrade helmet. Need "oval" or "long oval" - what to look at?
Al Z. Heimer replied to Phreon's topic in Daily Ride
http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/home This is the best site I have found to date rating helmets and giving info on helmets. Their testing results is a perfect example of "just because it costs more does not necessarily mean it it a better as in more protective product". -
Good to here. Thanks for the update.
