After some serious deliberation, I'm holding off buying anything and have decided to invest some $$$ into my Mossy 590A1. If the SHTF and I need to go somewhere short or long-term, I'd rather have my shotgun with a mixture of loads for self-defense as well as the ability to hunt big and small game - something I wouldn't be able to do with any type of a battle rifle and most definitely not with a .308. I'm also going to start upgrading my BOB and also try to get my POS AK fixed. Needless to say, if I bought another rifle it would just be a fun and expensive toy....and I have plenty of those sitting in the garage collecting dust.

When I first heard about his ordeal, I was shocked that it happened to him since he looked to be in great shape. Thank you for adding some insight on him from the personal side, too, he sounds like a great guy and loving father.

I have about a 1,000 rounds of 7.62x54r for my MN's but I'm staying the hell away from Russian crap....my AK is the biggest POS rifle I've ever bought....never again. Thus my emphasis on American made battle rifles - right now it's between the tried and true M1A and the new Sig.

I've had my 4 over 2 years and don't have a serious hankering to replace it. Yeah, it can be glitchy at times - mostly with Sync in my truck - but is otherwise a good phone for my needs. When Sprint has finally turned on their LTE network nationwide, then and only then will I seriously consider getting a 5S.

I remember the news report about the Ohio man who was dead for about 45 minutes and came back to life. Both cases are fascinating with respect to how they're both fine with no apparent brain damage. And I find his closing comment even more fascinating.....I wonder what he saw on the other side.

I love acceleration and have tried drag racing - legally - one my cars in the past, a '90 GSX with some minor mods, but I prefer the challenge of the twisties whether it is on 2 or 4 wheels.

Boy-o-boy, choices, choices with some really good input - thanks, guys! I still haven't narrowed it down or committed to anything...mostly been checking out GB for anything of interest. The FNAR's are priced reasonably well on GB but there aren't that many FAL's on there - just one of interest within my price range. One M1A is under $1,400 - a new standard - and the prices go up from there for standards and Socom's. The Sig is just under $1800 along with an Armalite, and DPMS at about the same price - the DPMS is decked out with lots of upgrades including a scope but that is not my idea of building something to your needs and expectations. There's also a POF 308 but it's over $2k....a bit more than I want to spend but they're well built rifles with a unique AR bolt setup. The other one of interest is a modified M1A with a SAGE stock for about the same price as the Sig and Armalite.

I'm a closet Colts fan (bro-in-law works for them and I've been to their training facility - class act organization) and while disappointed with the Browns front office - nothing changes even with new people in place, unbelievable - I'm excited to see what TR can do in Indy. Hopefully this pays off for them come draft time but they'll still suck next year, too.

I'm perplexed.....in order to download the new IOS I'll have to delete a lot of my music since I have less than a 1/2 gig left out of 8 on my 4......and from the reviews here and elsewhere, 7 doesn't sound all that wonderful.

I've been thinking about getting another rifle and even though I've been hankering for an M1A for quite awhile the idea of getting an AR based .308 is still of interest. Case in point, the Sig Sauer R716 Patrol Rifle - anyone have one or know of someone who has one with good feedback?

Why did he still have a security clearance after all of his earlier issues with firearms and misconduct in the military? Why was he hired in the first place? Affirmative action bullshit? I've also wondered about the race of those targeted by him during the shooting spree because his earlier beef was supposedly a missed promotion in the Navy Reserves due to "discrimination" - real or imagined - and he didn't get over it in a healthy manner. And of course, the usual suspects - 0bama and the half-wit from California - wasted no time with wanting to create new gun laws instead of acknowledging the problem exists within human nature and refocusing on the mental health issues plaguing our society.

Personally, if I were using the 600rr's front end I'd also want the OEM wheel and axle. But, if you're determined to use what you have and the axle fits properly, then use it.

I got a LOL out of the Dell comment....my work laptop is a POS Dell (chosen by IT) and it is on the third HDD in just over a year with the same issues as the last two so it's only a matter of time before it goes dead.

That chick has it all. She reminds me of an O-3 I dated back when I was in the Army....only she was 100% Italian.
