  1. I've been thinking of picking up the RS-1 to play it safe along with another brand just to see what else was out there. I think it is very similar to the Star; with just a slightly different head shape and not quiet as much air flow. Even think my remaining visors cross over to it just fine. Something I'll definitely be considering. Had a quick look at Sharks & Scorpions back when I got my Bell; I'll have to take a more detailed look at them this time. www.webbikeworld.com was my main information source when picking up the Star. Looking back, they have it listed as a Neutral shape along with a ton of other helmets, so it looks like there are a few options.
  2. It all makes sense now! That's why I crashed!!!
  3. so I guess I was running your clear one? don't have the slightest clue
  4. shit, was I running yours or the amber one? there isn't one on the helmet and my crap is still at Steve's place. Ahhh what am I talking abt, Jester still owes me a clear one anyway lol
  5. Agreed with fit being #1, but it also one of those things that is so hard to tell by a showroom trial. I've had a few helmets that felt great new, then became lose buffeting moving messes as they wore in. I'm going to see the head-shapes for the Star and see what other helmets are similar shapes.....use that as my option list. This is a pipe dream for sure, but anyone have experience with Schuberth helmets?
  6. Trade two crashed gsxr 600's? lol That is a sweet bike! GLWS!
  7. Not the best wording, just trying to convey cost/barrier to entry does matter to me. Just really interested in opinions. You bring up a great point about head/helmet geometry which will play a huge role in fitment. I'll have to look into what the Star's shape is and comparable helmets. BTW picked up the Star for $300 on closeout via STG. I tried on similar Bells (not the Star) and was happy with the fit/finish. Lucked out with the date not being old, the fit lasted and was really happy overall. Now that the Star is "proven" to me....it will probably be hard to venture away from it, but I'm really interested to see what others think.
  8. What is the top affordable track/racing helmets in your opinion? Have you used other brands/makes? Comparison? Background: All I've used on the track was the Bell Star so that is my only real point of reference. Been extremely satisfied with the Star while riding, light weight, well ventilated, no-noticeable buffeting, quick shield changes, pads maintained support through the life. Unfortunately, it isn't the cheapest helmet and my last "off" was a significant one, but the helmet served its purpose pretty damn well IMHO. I'm thinking about picking up another, which is the reasoning for the thread.
  9. Had a similar feeling from one on-track video in a truck, but I also thought it could be perspective from the video. There were a couple walls that looked to be exterior barriers that looked very unfriendly as well, but once again POV. Would love the chance to take a closer look!
  10. Jelly! If you need a pit bitch I'd be interested!
  11. This is too good not to be quoted
  12. hopefully this isn't frowned upon.....anyone interested to buy my groupon? doubtful I'll be able to make it this year now that I've broken my collarbone....hell of a deal that I wish I could make IMHO.
  13. Ouch! Hope you and the bike fared well! Were you noticing any front end issues/chatter anywhere? It looked planted through the carousel some laps moved others(might have been a line change). Sounds like front chatter ramping up right before you go down to me....correlates with the vibration as well.
  14. Few minutes more uploading and it should be live:
  15. Thanks guys...found it t12, highside mid corner. Broken collar bone and beat up bike/rider&gear. I guess I was out cold for awhile, because I remember nothing from the whole ordeal....or even the race up till that point. Video brings back some memories. After it is edited down and uploaded I'll throw it up here.
  16. Thanks everyone who lended a hand. I'm still not sure what happened, trying to watch the gopro to figure it out. Beyond grateful for everyone who lent a hand. Bike looks to need some serious repairs...I will start worrying about more once I'll be able to ride again....if nothing else, there is always the street bike to fall back to. Here is to hope of making next round. Thanks again to everyone...words seriously cant comprehend how grateful I am for the amazing souls at MotoSeries events.
  17. these come with rivet or clip master link? shoot me the price of one and 2 rivet master links. standard/cheapest color
  18. I think friday there is no gate fee, but I'm not 100% on that.
  19. ^ I've noticed that they JUST started charging a late fee for gift certs around the AMA weekend. I transitioned into the "frequent rider" category by signing up for 4 trackdays/year, so I lucked out and didn't pay a late signup fee.
  20. Would like to, but I'm doubtful.
  21. ^ go figure, another reason to hate HD....
  22. Adobe premiere elements....which I know nothing about. First time I tried to litererally cut each segment out and put it all together....talk about tedious. Once I figured out there was a multi-camera setting it was a breeze. Sync the videos, create a new sequence, enable multi-camera mode/window and just watch the video and hit "1" or "2" depending on which camera shows the action. Biggest pain is syncing the videos, and I've got that down pretty well using sound waves.
  23. Thanks Nate! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be once I figured out the correct options/settings. I'll be using the cutting between cameras in the future.
