  1. I doubt I'll wait that long to do most of my work, but I'll lend a hand and drink a few beers.
  2. How much $? I like it, but need more pics. Edit: after watching an advertisement on YouTube, nope. It has curb appeal, but once a rider is on it, it is lost. Plus it doesn't have the utility of a normal wing.
  3. For right now, I'm sticking with stock internals besides spring change and fluid. May change my mind if I come across the right deal. For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2005-Suzuki-GSXR600-750-forks-Ohlins-/280955633642?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416a42bfea&vxp=mtr
  4. Thanks! Still beating myself up about not bidding on a Ohlins shock that went for $350 on ebay, but I'm pretty happy with what I ended up with. Trying to do some upgrades on a minimal budget. I'm sure I'll be picking up some more goodies and doing some bodywork to the bike throughout winter, so I may just make this an ongoing thread.
  5. Thanks for the tips. Depending how it turns out, may tweak the hardware more. I'm hoping the springs put me in a usable adjustment range that way I can feel it out as opposed to maxing out the preload like the bike sits now. Cranking in the preload and compensating with some compression damping made the bike feel so much better under braking, but I was still nearly bottomed out at Nelson where I was not really braking hard anywhere.
  6. You dakota have the tie down points in the bottom of the bed?

you guys over-analyze.....its just a damn funny meme. I just read it again, scrolled down the the picture, and started laughing all over again.
  8. Second off-season box has arrived...first one had some spares, this one is a little more fun. Penske shock and a couple springs. Think the fork springs should be arriving tomorrow. Wish I wasn't sick or it would already be on the bike. I believe it is a 8100 compression adjuster(6 settings and offcenter knob). I'm leaning toward it being an 8900 shock, but Penske's manuals are confusing and not being very helpful. It has 36 clicks of rebound adjustment if that matters. BTW if anyone has a need for the 625 spring LMK, pretty sure the previous owner bought it by mistake, because it is pristine.

saw this in the funny picture thread, made me crack up
  10. Yeah, just the high temp paint from Advance.
  11. Here are a couple from the last mod session.....pulling the dents out of the tank....was tired of the low fuel capacity: Smoothing: Rattle canned: Guess this is the closest I have to the finished bike, ended up spraying it white and blue.
  12. How she started after a run in with a guard rail: After I fixed everything mechanically and my buddies got to her with some black spray paint while I was away at college: Got bored with the all black look: Wish I would have left the dirtbike bars on, but it was too much on the highway. That acerbis headlight blew, so I made up my own which worked better, but still not enough. Picked up a Dominator headlight as the final iteration, worked great. Also worked out the dented tank and did a few other things, I'm not sure if I have any pictures of the final version before I found a crack in the frame....have to dig around.
  13. if you have fairings, they have the advantage of easy attachment points without a chance of damaging anything from stress or straps flapping. Without fairings, I don't really see a point to them when you can loop over the lower triple clamp.

I've cruised at 75 with mine. Only have around 3k on it so far. Stock bearings.
  15. Yeah, Jan 25th...don't think my family would appreciate being ditched on Christmas for a bunch of rice rocket riding homos.

  17. So I'm assuming if someone walked up and offered you some blow you would do it, because that just negated two of your arguments for not doing it. In fact; since it is a one time thing and coke cleans out quick you are not likely to get caught, so that actually negates all three arguments. If not, there is something more than the 3 points you are listing out.....and that is why the majority of the population will not all of a sudden become pot heads and crack addicts if all drugs were legalized.

If you need a 20% off coupon for harbor freight go to a magazine rack and look through the advertiser lists in the back of the mags. If you get one of the harbor freight trailers, clean the shit out of the bearings and repack them with quality grease. I did mine and they stay within a few degrees of ambient temp. Also a friend and an impact will save you a ton of time putting it together.
  19. It was a hyperbole, I could go line by line and list them out, but I dont have that kind of time on my hands. Basically though, f you decide not to do something because it is illegal, price and availability have no influence on the decision.....those are contradictions in the bullet points you keep listing out. Also, if you are basing decisions on legality, you wouldn't drink just because one day it will become legal....you will obey the law. You drew an arbitrary line in the law based on your morals and the facts you knew. That arbitrary line is the reason I think making drugs illegal is counterproductive.
  20. I'll be heading South for the 22nd, so either the 15th or 25th would be good for me. Missed out on the show last year, hopefully have time to check it out.
  21. ^ you contradicted yourself about 15 times in that last paragraph alone
