  1. Come to think about it, my hypermotard has one too. It's been the only bike I really notice having a slipper, mostly because I found out you can't bump start the bike if the engine stalls, which seems to be common on my bike if I clutch in and allow the engine to return to idle quickly. Anywho... +1 for throttle blip.
  2. I put one in my supermoto to eliminate wheel hop. I still throttle blip on downshift. Dumping the clutch doesn't sit well with me for some reason. I know it's ok, but I'm comfortable doing a little blip. I did this with my s1000rr also. It had a factory slipper. I don't think a factory slipper is nearly as good though.
  3. I could definitely see a wr250x going 43's Doug gall, on a 450x swapped grom was practically rolling 43's right behind me. Schmidt claims 41's on his katoom, but I'm thinking fish story. I just made it in 43's and know of a few places I could shave time.
  4. You and me both! I've heard there's some fast bastard running 38's on an aprilia sxv. My goal next season is 39's at G&J. I'm changing my bike setup, hopefully for the better, this winter.
  5. Search for a used Penske or similar rear shock, then have your local speed shop install race-tech gold valves, or pick your flavor. Have it sprung for your weight then have them set sag and ride height. After that, note your baseline (like in a notebook) and start tuning from there. As mentioned, get on DOT race tires. Again, pick whatever you like. From q3's - try gp-pros.
  6. In my opinion, suspension is the absolute most important thing. Get that sorted, then save money for fuel and tires.
  7. Congrats! And very good choice! It's a cool feeling knowing you're the only owner. And warrenty's are awesome!
  8. Go 75s to the city, then take Columbia pkwy to 471s (it's the left exit for 5th street) it's easier to take than it sounds. It's the first left side exit in Cincinnati. Hop on 471 s to 275 w. it's a couple exits down. I like 471 coming from the way north better than 75-275. Usually because of traffic.
  9. You guys have fun! I might see you at willow or Falmouth, if I get out. Was hoping to do a stamping grounds run.
  10. He wasn't trapping as high as the bike was capable of. When I rode it, I was in the 80's on the front straight. I didn't feel comfortable going faster with the r1 because you could feel the weight when on the brakes. It seemed like a lot of inertia for such a small track. For comparison: on my RMZ 450, I'm usually into the 90's on the front straight. Overall, I think the r1 with him on it was running 46's to 47's. As far as closing speeds: we all knew we where out there with small bikes and a few beginner riders. We all discussed that we would slow and do polite passing. We all know each other well too.
  11. $10 and a waiver is correct, Gary will tell you to wear your gear. That grom is Doug gall's. he's a professional motorcycle drag racer and has a big hp turbo busa. He bought that grom back in march/April, rode it home, and pulled the motor out. He had a crf450x donor bike waiting at his house. Swapped it out that night. He's had it at the drag strip running high 12's and had it topped out at 130mph! He can't lean very far right without dragging his exhaust, so he has to ride it all crazy like.
  12. Price is negotiable. I am perfectly comfortable sitting on the bike till tax season too. I can do a layaway program as well. if that makes things affordable for anyone.
  13. I can, tomorrow at work. Pm me the info, I'll need full 17 digit VIN's
  14. I know, right? His first time on a track. He did awesome. I rode the bike and was surprised how good it felt. Here's a pic of him and me He had goofy lines, but overall very clean riding.
  15. went for some practice with a few friends at g&j on 9/21/14 started cutting 43's, which is the fastest i've been able to do. i think i'm outriding the front brake setup and i'd like to change tires. my goal is to make it into the 30's next season. the fast guys cut 38's on the layout we run. in the video, theres some weird bikes out there. a grom w/ a crf450x swap, and an 04 r1. see if this links it:
  16. Currently waiting on parts for my aprilia tuono. Radiator was leaking at a seam and will be installing some carbon fiber. The Ducati will be getting a fresh set of q3's The BMW needs an oil change The supermoto just got a slipper clutch and next is a race brake setup. Currently has ebc 320mm rotor with dirt caliper and brembo 16mm, looking at Beringer 6 pot setup. Also going to grab a fresh set of b/stone slicks. Just did carb clean and an oil change on the shadow And there's other stuff that I'm forgetting. Anyone want to buy a bike? Lol!
  17. 02 shadow spirit 750 Just under 11,000 miles Some custom work. Bars, cobra pipes, side mount plate and brake light, custom paint, debadged, lowered. Bike is really clean and sharp. Just had carbs gone through, and a fresh oil change. Could use a set of tires, but not right away. I can put tires on, but that will affect price. Its at my shop, Apex Cycle and Salvage 817 w. central ave. Springboro, OH 45066. Clear/clean title. Shop (call 10-6) 937.550.9151 - Lou My cell (call/text) 513.508.8794 - Aaron
  18. I'm in Hamilton, haven't seen this go pro rig though.
  19. Georgia and I had a great time. Fun roads and beautiful countryside up there. We had a late start, around 640am, made it home around 930, but we did stop at a Cracker Barrel... And can you go to Cracker Barrel without shopping for useless junk? Anyways, thanks for having us!
  20. This. There is no real break in period. Skuff in by doing some leaning and bring the tire up to temp with accel/brake. Good to go. **edit Forgot to add: once skuffed in, huge mega wheelies.
  21. If you think on star is scary, you should see some discussions about the proposed obdIII mandate. Federal regulations are getting out of control. Next up is another crunch on CO2 emissions, and the only way to reduce those emissions is to reduce engine displacement. That's why there's been a hike in forced induction in recent years, the most obscene of which is a twin turbo v6 in a full size pickup. You can thank old Henry for that. Can't wait to see those trucks at 100k, abandoned because people can't afford Cvvt phasers and new turbos.
  22. My bmw's have been great! My Ducati on the other hand... Lets say I probably won't be so inclined to buy another one.
  23. This is why I buy snap on. It's the highest quality tool. I rarely ever have to replace anything, and usually when I do it's because I've missed placed it. I don't want to admit how much I've spent on tools, because its sickening... But I've been disappointed every time I didn't buy snap on. It's really turned me into a tool snob and now the tools at my house are gradually turning into snapon.
