  1. Nice! I've always wanted to make a 2-axis servo-controlled laser show - that would be wicked funny as a cat toy. To me the coolest parts of electronics projects have to do with sensors and actuators. I just need to get over my periodic depression about others getting paid major bucks by day to do truly envelope-pushing things with control systems. I have a nearly-completely-unused EET bachelor's from DeVry and suffer a couple times a year from nerd envy of those folks. I just need to accept that it's fun to tinker, even if I'm relearning things I knew intimately well 20+ years ago.
  2. I have an Uno kit, a couple of cook books and a handful of servos, sensors and lights. I'd love to create a motorcycle telemetry unit someday.
  3. I worked in an electronics store while I was in high school. While there, my manager, Ron, lost his tween son to a 3-wheeler accident that broke his neck. Terrible tragedy. Please be careful.

    Sony Hack

My feelings about Sony have not improved a single iota through all of this.
  5. Merry Christmas! May this winter be a mercifully short one...
  6. I myself prefer IWB when I can't have it in a more drawable location. I especially like the leather Desantis tuck holsters.

    Sony Hack

In any case, now that Sony has changed their mind, everyone who's not a communist, fascist or freedom-hating surrender monkey has a god-anointed National obligation to see this movie for America's sake. Failure to do so on Thursday will mean you side with the terrorists and should leave the county asap.

    Sony Hack

Well, it's technically allegory from Clooney interviewed by Wired. Attorneys (reputedly) said it to the property owners, which is what Sony reacted to -big theaters bailing on them. http://www.wired.com/2014/12/obama-sony-made-a-mistake/
  9. Thanks, you too! Are you aching to go to the range yet?!
  10. I honestly didn't know you could farkle a pistol to that degree! I picked up a Sig P250 .45 subcompact a couple weeks ago and bought a Kahr CM45 on Saturday - neither are tricked out like yours are!
  11. Nice try, but that bike needs some damned mud ASAP before other ADV bikes make fun of it. At least that's what Pokey said about my Strom when I got it new...
  12. Damn, that's an awesome present!!! Welcome to the ADV side of the hobby!
  13. Nice trade. It reminds me that I need to exercise my dad's 50-year-old .22 Hornet rifle this spring. I never figured out why the Hornet fell out of favor - it's a hot cartridge.
  14. Ah, my bad then. I knew it was unlikely a Seal could afford a modern Rolex himself on military pay, let alone feel free enough to subject it to incredible abide. Figured Sam paid, if anyone.

Well, it is the patriotic thing to do after all. Just after you buy a car full of gold bullion, war bonds and Fox shares. Sony was screwed either way. They just decided to fold before the company went bankrupt. I can't believe Republicans aren't more sympathetic with Sony's plight here. That's a very interesting idea.
  16. Hmm let's see. Take a $5-10k mechanical watch into battle or a sub-$100 digital model that may not pick up as many smok'n hot spy chicks but does the job of timekeeping at least as well. I vote Rolex, while Uncle Sam has his wallet open anyway. [emoji15]

Too funny. The prez agreed with those of you who are disappointed with Sony. You do know their lawyers told them they'd be responsible for anyone killed or injured at the theaters if they proceeded, right? They're a Japanese-owned, for-profit company (with shitty I.T. Security) that needed to protect their interests, not act as bastions of liberty for this fine land.
  18. I've been disassembling and painting my CB77 project. It's going well, if slowly - it's cold.
  19. Pictures look great and good price. If I hadn't already picked up a subcompact .45 2 weeks ago I'd be all over it. GLWS
  20. You might want to post pics here anyway and not just by message - pictures really do help to generate interest.
  21. Good call Pokey, you gotta love the ruggedness of something less than $100. Looks about as tactical (tacticool?) as you can get too. Personally I'd go for black or camo, or even the black camo, but that's just me. FWIW, I accumulated a couple Swiss watches for work (wearing a Breitling Colt GMT today) but I enjoy my Timex Ironman and several other much-less-costly Japanese and Chinese fashion-level watches in rotation. Love 'em all. It's just so intuitive to look at your wrist to check the time (and date and Zulu time on some watches).
