  1. When I read from the beginning of the thread, I see a bunch of folks trying to help a newcomer (24 posts, and most of them in this thread) with an issue he's all panty-wadded up about and seems determined to stay that way. No gratitude or solution-oriented attitude from the OP. More energy spent on complaining and recording voicemails than just spending $12 and moving on from the drama.
  2. Change all the fluids to reset your baselines - that's the first thing I do with every used bike I buy. If that's truly the hypoid transmission gear oil drain plug and not and engine oil plug, then you may simply have discovered that the PO never changed the gear oil, which isn't uncommon, and the filings may be from the whole period after purchase, which would make me worry a whole lot less.
  3. SOMEBODY had to build out the payment networks to answer consumer's desire to pay electronically with limited liability.

Happy Zombie Jesus Day redkow! ;-D
  5. I might! I was going to show off my restored 1985 CB700SC, but a friend convinced me to sell it to him 2 weeks ago. Gotta garden with my kiddo, water the front lawn's grass seed and pick up a ham for tomorrow first, so a ride to HM would be a suitable self-reward, me thinks. :-)
  6. Dammit Aimee, now I know for sure I'm old. Neither of the beauties in the foreground intrigue me as much as what's in the showroom. Lovely legs and suspensions though...
  7. I'm more a fan of cash rewards out of fury over travel mile redemption restrictions, but some cards do it right. Absoluely, and yet another example of risk pooling. It's entirely true that the billions of us paying with credit cards effectively raise the cost of goods a few percent, but merchants long ago already absorbed the increase, which in reality simply shifts the risk of fraud to the credit card companies, who treat the whole thing as an insurance play carefully risk-mitigated by actuarial tables.
  8. Credit cards provide certain buyer protections that debit cards, cash and checks do not. Pay them off EVERY month and you'll have emergency credit available as well, for stuff like sudden medical deductible expenses, tow truck, etc.
  9. Ditto on the Hoblick fannage.
  10. Well you might as well add time travel to the moral dilemma if we're going Full Plato.
  11. Shit, you've discovered I'm an occupationally pedantic bastard!
  12. Welcome to adulthood. Or old age.
  13. I don't disagree with your conclusion but I very much disagree with your supporting statement for its excessive breadth. I rather enjoy vaccines and surgical interventions and clean water and ABS and distracted driving laws. If our DNA strands give us the ability to think through risk mitigators, why on earth would we reject them out of a blanket belief that they curb Darwinism? It's just to me, this video isn't a case where additional laws are needed, just as Justin Lee shouldn't have been stopped from flying a T-Rex 600 under supervision.
  14. When I first saw the video, I was with 2talltim and couldn't believe some dad would risk his kid or his own life so arrogantly and ignorantly. Then I remembered a video of Justin Lee at age 5 in ways I still personally can't. What you see on that video is a pre-schooler controlling two 600mm carbon fiber blades spinning at 2000 RPM, which can easily maim and kill, deftly carrying out complex and challenging aerobatic moves just a hundred feet or so from fellow pilots and spectators. What's the difference? Both fathers are close by and have (presumably) watched their children closely for years enough to determine their capabilities.
  15. I wish I could throw my vote your way Brian! There's no way I could be there in person; no lie - 7 meetings scheduled with the last one finishing at 5 :-(.
  16. So, a CTX and a Valkyrie were left alone in the lab and got busy... Are they seriously going to stick with the name "Vultus?" Voldebike is more like it... if it were to be named...
  17. Happy Wife, Happy Life. Good risk mitigation, sir!
  18. You make an interesting point, and i really would like to see what my CRF can do away from the streets. So are you going to Hanging Rock? If so, are you riding or trailering to it?
  19. As long as the organization is strategic in nature and isn't offset by accumulated technical debt. Sincerely, Mr. Sr I.T. Enterprise Architect

GLWS, and good luck with your dog's surgery. ACL tears are a heck of a thing for them to heal from because they're terrible at sitting still.
  21. JCMathis that sounds seriously fun and I think you meant May 17 and 18. Just note that the Ohio Riders Epic Ride is the 17th, so I'm not sure my body will be up for that plus day #2 of Hanging Rock 200... Looks like it'll be a great weekend to pick and choose from though!
