  1. LOL, cool, you'll have to post some video sometime man!
  2. OK, so, a young, single geneticist is walking through the park and comes upon a mantis-shaped cat, which he promptly picks up (having noticed it was one of his colleagues' escaped creations). The catmantis speaks in Cantonese (which fortunately he understands), "a naughty man turned me into this form, but I'm actually a smok'n hot Thunder Roads model and will be again if you help me." The man thinks for a moment, and catmantis senses his hesitation, "I'll be your girlfriend and do whatever you want me to do - we'll have so much fun together before, after, and heck, even in the lab <wink wink>." Upon further thought, the man places catmantis into his pocket and begins to walk again. Catmantis, confused, exclaims, "don't you understand what I'm offering to you? I'll be the hottest gal that any of your friends have ever seen and I'll be yours, all yours!" To which he says, "hey, I'm a geneticist - I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking catmantis is cool!"
  3. Is man separate from nature, or an extension of nature? Don't be so fast with either answer - philosophers, theologians and scientists have been struggling with this for thousands of years. Brought to this issue: Are we messing with something so fundamental to life as we know it that it could only turn out horribly, or... Are we doing what nature built us to do, perhaps to unlock the next round of planetary evolution? Like, maybe it'll result in better YouTube cat videos because the cats will be frigging huge and shaped like preying mantises.
  4. I have a Hero 2 bought for $150 with some goodies from another OR inmate and I've been having fun with it. My favorite mount so far is a curved adhesive tab attached to my helmet's chin. It's rock-solid and gives me the ability to start and stop recording with my hand, which is nice on longer trips where I don't want a whole memory card of boring stretches. It also tracks with my eyesight and absorbs a lot of vibration, though it does pick up head bobbles and wind turbulence. I've used a suction mount on the windscreen and tank side for other perspectives and it looks great, just picks up engine vibration, creating "jello" effects at specific RPMs.
  5. I think you guys need tattoos. And shaved heads. :-P
  6. So much hate in the room. GTF outside and Ride!
  7. And go somewhere she'll especially enjoy, even if you're lukewarm about the destination. She'll associate the bike with getting something she wants.
  8. I don't fully understand, what's your position Tonik?
  9. Tonik, you should take some time to get to know their organization, Americans for Prosperity. It's an ugly, ugly, ugly organization (and puleeze don't say that's OK because there are others just as bad - that's a toddler's argument). While I was opposed to the Columbus Zoo levy, the Kochs sent out flyers to Columbus residents that stated property taxes would go up by 105% because of the levy. OMG! I can't afford that! What they DIDN'T say was that only the ZOO component would go up, so a $100k home owner would pay $45/yr instead of $22/yr, not $4k instead of $2k like they implied. It was incredibly disingenuous and fully intent to mislead. Anyone using those kinds of tactics should be banned from politics, and it made me sick to place a vote on their side for fear that success will only further embolden that kind of BS. It's the same BS they already use with the ACA, global warming, public funding of educational TV and everything else, and these guys have so much money and industry and media ties, it has poisoned politics for the last decade, and it's only getting worse. Wait until the next presidential election for the real mudraking to begin.
  10. But hey, at least you'll be on the Koch's Christmas card list. Then can show it to the children in your classrooms as inspiration.
  11. A sin tax passed but the school levy didn't? I hate voters.
  12. Christian Sport Bike Association, I believe.
  13. Busy tonight but maybe to the next one!
  14. I was resting up from a 1000 mile camp-and-ride. Does a handful of ibuprofen and 9 hours of sleep count?
  15. Probably were just tired. It's still early in the season.
  16. Which did you do first? Fatigue? Skeet requires a lot more movement.
  17. I agree, at least as far as my own needs go. Derek, I'm going to have to withdraw my offer to act as sweep, I'm sorry. I rode 1000 miles this weekend with several groups of 7 riders (+- a few), and it was challenging enough to keep that cohesive across a variety of skills, and that was with similar bikes. And boy did we experience what full gas stations in rural towns was like - there appears to be a tradition on some places to park in front of a pump, go inside for a crap, peruse the wares and chit-chat with the cashier before casually gassing up and going back in to pay. Great people, just casual. I might still come for the meet and ride my own route or join a small group on a different path, or I might attend a dual-sport ride on the same weekend. Sorry man, but hope you understand.
  18. This thread has fully jumped the shark from merely trolltastic to full-on spastic. Unsubscribed.
  19. I need to make a T shirt with a motorcycle icon on it, saying Free Waves or some such. Just to be a no good dirty hippie.

    OR Decals

I just got mine - love 'em!
  21. Excellent reference, I was thinking the same. Now, if you want a controversial issue on OR, let's talk about the Rem 700 situation, because I'll bet some of us believe Rem was at best asleep at the wheel when owners started running into issues. A parallel situation is the introduction of firing pin disengagement in modern guns to avoid slam-fires. It wasn't considered a defect per-se, but it was IMHO an excellent design refinement for the purposes of safety.
