  1. I admire anyone fit and dedicated enough to do that. Congrats to her and your support for her competing!
  2. I think both of those points are fair (coming from a Columbus suburb resident of 20+ years). But, I don't think bloodninja is seeking out the fun. Just within a couple miles of downtown, there's the North Market for fresh produce and ethnic meals, alternative bars and nightclubs on Wall Street and Gay Street, the artsy district of the Short North (Gallery Hop is great for people watching after consuming free wine and cheese), swanky meals at places like Mitchel's, M and Milestone 229. Skully's is a hoot for live music, so is the Rhumba Cafe (seek out Spikedrivers for a swampy folk mashup). The Doodah parade is a total gas, and Comfest is a hippie's dream. There are bars for every age group in the now-well-developed Arena District, including microbreweries and a dueling piano bar. Seriously, if you visited 4 different places every weekend without repeat visits, it would take you well over a year to cover the majority of them. And that doesn't even include the Jazz and Rib Fest, the Columbus Arts festival, Blue Jackets hockey, motorcycle, car and fitness shows, the Ohio State Fair...
  3. That won't stop me from envying their high speed internet though. I am in the tech business after all.
  4. I agree about the suburb point. For me, that's a great feature because it translated into a profitable, low crime and genteel place to raise a family. But it's not where I'd go to vacation or spend a wreckless youth - I'd save NYC, Seattle or San Fran for that. To me, parts of Cleveland have their charm, but I like Pittsburgh better. Cinci doesn't give me anything Columbus can't, since I'm not much of a sports fan.
  5. Ummm, you are aware that 20,000 JPMorgan Chase employees work in and around Columbus, right? And AEP. And BMW Financial. And Scott's, and The Limited Brands, and Cardinal Health, and Nationwide and Citi and Quickcrete and Honda and multiple telecoms and hundreds more medium and large-sized companies that have nothing to do with OSU or the capital. You need to visit some career fairs, or consult.
  6. A friend in WV wants to buy my cleanly-titled CB125S. Is there anything special that I'd need to do other that have it signed and notarized like an intra-state transfer? I imagine he may also have a WV safety inspection to perform? I used to live in WV, but it was a long time ago and I didn't trade vehicles at the time. Thanks in advance!
  7. Welcome to OR. Is it just me, or does your Buell have a really short rake?
  8. I presume you mean on the desktop. On the server, it's an absolute boss and has been so for over a decade. Most public and private companies have vast percentages of Red Hat, Suse, CentOS or similar distros running in their data centers. Rock solid and performant.

    Thanks Obama

Stop that. Now I have to devil's advocate from the conservative point of view. Jerk.

    Thanks Obama

I guess that's why more socialized countries are doing better for their middle class.

Interesting article and a lot to digest. It definitely doesn't fit completely (or even partially) into the old saws of conservative or liberal economic pedestals.
  12. Filter. That's strike 4, you insensitive clod.
  13. That's enough boys. Three bad coffee references by my count.
  14. +1. As delighted as I am with my own career choice of I.T., I'd be grateful and very much greater to know a fraction of what you grease monkeys know about those infernal riding, driving, locomoting and flying machines. You'd think that someone asking for help would have similar self-awareness of their own mechanical shortcomings as just that.
  15. Adding my outrage over the absence of photos.
  16. Whatever you do, do NOT go to the vintage motorcycle days at Mid Ohio on July 11-13. Don't even click this link Chris, I mean it. I had similar thoughts and couldn't be happier, because even a 475 lb V-Strom 650 is a couple hun heavier than a town-and-country runabout. I went with a dual sport to also gain some dirt fun. CHRIS, get away from that link right now.
  17. 28 posts, 13 of them acrimonious about a $12 part.
  18. And yet he still tried to help you (as did others) before they got tired of your sandy tone.
