  1. Damn Eli you sound like an ad for Air Flow Research. This argument has been made over and over again in the LSx engine world, basically the cathedral style heads (especially the ones made by AFR) are claimed to have higher port velocity while the newer style rectangular ports are slower with more volume. Honestly I could care less to have this argument, but I just don't by into port velocity as being as big of a factor as companies like AFR (who have a big stake in the arguement) claim.
  2. Came here to post just this, check for power and ground to determine if the motor is bad. I bet the motor is bad.
  3. If less moving parts was very important rotaries would be all the rage, but it's nothing more then a torqueless 6 cylinder (9 cylinder with triple rotor). This why I brought up the fact that there are too many factors in engine design to say something like number of cylinders or displacement has a simple direct effect on power production. If it was that simple you could be an engineer with basic high school math.
  4. So many other factors go into an engine like capacity to move air efficiently that I feel comparing # of cylinders to displacement is not really fair. Other factors aside I'd want a good balance, thats why small block V8s are so popular, good useable power, decent rev range, and they just sound good. Maybe you should consider the strength of the engine with as little mass as possible, then get it to operate over 100% volumetric efficency, then you can see how much displacement you can get into that formula. Thats whats the best. Hows that for a lame attempt at sounding smart?
  5. Looks like a fucking cubicle on wheels, no thank you.
  6. I like the look of what you have there, and I really like the idea of painting the wheels accents body color.

    3/9

    Good question.

    really?

Any time my wife and I would end up at the same place we park on top of each other to allow the maximum amount of space for other idiots so we can limit the likeliness of door dings. I park on top of my wife at home too, so whatever. Someone parked that close to me I don't know would loose one or more of their windows depending on my mood that day.
  9. Damn, I'll miss you princess since its my one weekend on.
  10. Guess it wouldn't cost us much to rebuild, seems like I'd be more worried about them not having shit to lose. Besides isn't it the old dictator's son running shit now? Think punk ass young dictator has something to prove? A bluff sure wouldn't surprise me, but that doesn't mean they're smart.
  11. Aren't Toyo RA-1s DOT road race tires? and not slicks? I'm interested since they'll fit on my Miata, by brand new you mean the stickers are still on them?
  12. Most people would agree that I "built" my Camaro, put the engine together, installed everything, and tuned it, but I don't use the terms "custom" or "built" to describe it. Personally I think those terms are played out as I've met so many people who aren't my type of car guy who use that to describe anything thats been touched on their car. Closest I come to this is when someone asks what I've done to my car and my response is simply that I built an engine for it, and it has gone 10s with nitrous. Most people are smart enough to know there are lots of other things that had to be messed with, but going into great detail is something a ricer would do.
  13. I don't have any idea how to build a car or any part there in. Wanna race?
  14. Oh I thought you wanted e-thugs, sorry my bad.
  15. Balancers wear out eventually and seperate around the elastometer just like yours. A balancer prevents bearing wear over time by absorbing the harmonics creating by a running engine, how long that wear takes to become evident is impossible to know. I would not run with out a balancer.
  16. An underdrive pulley causes damage? Really? A fucked up or shitty balancer will. Worst thing that can happen is your alternator doesn't spin fast enough to keep up charging and thats pretty slim chance on most applications, but that doesn't cover teh balancer part. Not sure how your car is set up, but if the pulley is part of the balancer $80 sounds pretty damn cheap. A good balancer is neccesary to keep wear down in the engine and since your balancer is fucked up I strongly recommend you buy OE or better.
  17. After working at a Mazda dealer for going on a couple months now the only RX8s we see need engines, and there has been 3-4 get new engines in that time. Enough for me to never want one.
  18. I wouldn't buy any of them. Since none of them launch or accelerate as fast as my Camaro they have to be good at something else that is fun like stepping the tail out and steering with the throttle. and i just can't get into the whole Subi thing, driving them everyday at work I really don't like them even if they are a WRX or STI.
  19. So many ways to get around 500rwhp. I like the idea of a stroker with a nice set of heads and matched cam, should get you over 500. If you want to shoot the shit about it, walk next door to my shop and introduce yourself.
  20. So I'm confused about mid-ohio, the way their website reads you have to complete some driver training classes for their events? If it wasn't so damn confusing I'd get a little more excited to go. Can I just sign up for this event show up and drive? Assuming my Miata with detachable hardtop is acceptable.
  21. You haven't seen me post? really? You still didn't answer my question.
  22. Fill has lots of room to talk about having great jobs. What are you dong nowadays since you aren't selling phones? Luap needs to be better, but fillup needs to be betterer.
  23. Sorry I misunderstood about yours, I must be picturing something else. Yes it is atmosphere, but I'd still route it into the airbox rather then have a breather under the hood but thats just me. Without swapping to the better valley cover PCV, you'd just have to put the catch can before the PCV valve in line.
