  1. Wow! All I can think is...what a hateful, misdirected, single-minded, unhappy bitch. I actually had to look up PIV, guess I'm a little behind the curve on my acronyms. It's very reckless to go around describing consensual heterosexual sex as rape. She obviously doesn't understand the true meaning of such a vile act.
  2. I understand that and I didn't intend to piss you off...just another noob sticking his foot in his mouth I guess, didn't realize you were so busy. It's all good, I'd still buy the first round if/when we ever meet. Difference between us is I feel bad for the bike, not the dipshit owner.
  3. No, I said FIX it yourself. You don't think you can turn a profit on a $100 quad? Maybe I have too much time on my hands.
  4. My bad, missed the 24 Y/O part. Offer him $100 for the title and fix it yourself.
  5. Total tear down and itemize everything worn beyond spec, then advise customer from there.
  6. The trip I'm on currently has us staying in Geneva for the weekend. For the most part, in our off time we just walk around all day, eat, drink and take pictures of things that catch our eye. Here are some of mine this weekend. I couldn't afford this if I saved every extra penny my entire life. Just a block or two from my hotel. This one either. Cool to see an HP4. Swiss police hard at work. Cool old moped. Custom trailer.
  7. Not really. Sometimes you just have to call a turd a turd. I do feel for you that you're in this position though. Someone with your experience should be much more valued. Maybe this is a good thing. Either way, I'm glad you didn't cave and are still going on this trip.
  8. No worries here, 240's my real-world number...best I ever got was 280.
  9. I plug mine until I get home, then pull the tire and install a patch/plug combo. Two years ago, I had 6 flats in the 20k miles I rode that year. At that rate I would have gone broke buying tires. Instead, I purchased all the stuff needed to do a proper patch/plug install and ride them all the way to the cords with no trouble.
  10. I understand where you're coming from. It pisses me off too when I see another rider die from somebody else's actions. I guess my point here is that even though our legal system is far from perfect, it has way more experience sifting through the multitude of extenuating factors in cases like this. We simply don't know all the facts as outsiders. It's very easy to sympathize with the victim and their loved ones, it's a terrible thing that should never happen to an innocent person. That's unimaginable grief that I hope none of us has to deal with much in our lifetimes. But, just for a minute, put yourself in the defendant's shoes. Suppose you did absolutely nothing wrong except allow yourself to get distracted for a second and you killed someone. For me, that's not something I would ever be able to get past and the amount of jail time I served would have no bearing whatsoever on my personal penance. So is justice served by sentencing me to more time behind bars? For something that wasn't intentional? I don't know that answer, so I have to trust the discretion of a judge.
  11. If you can see the lines they cut into the pavement, experiment with the position of your bike relative to those. On a single loop system (one rectangular cut) stop with your wheels directly on top of one of the lines. On a dual loop system (two rectangular cuts in the pavement) stop with your wheels directly over the center line. You might also try putting your kickstand down on top of the line. Like has been said above, it's just a big metal detector. Also, the sensitivity of these systems should be adjustable...I know the ones they use at intersections are. You might ask some questions at work and see if somebody can get that adjusted a bit for you.
  12. Yep. The foamy adhesive is tenacious and molds right into the contours of whatever it's stuck to. My brake reservoir has raised letters on it so initially I was concerned it wouldn't stick well, but I'm pretty sure I could yank the whole master off the bars before the adhesive would fail. The Velcro side locks together nearly as well.
  13. Never thought of painting it, that's a good idea.
  14. Exactly, they have to live with it...for a mistake that happened in a second. Overwhelming guilt, financial and career destruction and jail time. Maybe he deserves worse, maybe he's just somebody's brother/child/husband that made a single mistake. I'm glad you're infallible, but most of us aren't. I have the ability to feel compassion for all and the intelligence to understand that everything isn't black and white, as much as we'd like it to be.
  15. 3m dual lock (industrial strength Velcro) secures my EZ Pass to my brake reservoir. When I don't need it, I pop it off and store it...easy breezy. 60k miles like that with no problems. The EZ Pass on my bike quit on me last week after 3ish years. Just got the replacement in the mail. Good timing and it's smaller than the old one.
  16. I have very mixed feelings on this. Inattentive soccer moms, drug addicts, text-ers, dui...I have no sympathy. However, I have a son that will be 16 in a month. He's a great kid, very conscientious and respectful and I have been stressing how serious a responsibility driving is. He gets it. Still, he's an inexperienced kid. Get distracted for one second and that's all it takes. Heck, I almost had an accident in my truck last week. I was blowing down a quiet country road, nobody around for miles, looked away for a second or two...then HOLY SHI...local paper delivery person half in the road, half off. I managed to avoid an accident, but it was mostly luck. I wasn't playing with the radio or my phone, wasn't intoxicated, nothing like that and still could have hurt somebody. The truth is, we don't know the people involved in this case. Passing judgement without all the facts is reckless at best.
  17. I hope somebody actually does research the validity of this list (I'm way too lazy). I've been to many of these places, several towards the top if the list and never got killed...as far as I know.
  18. Getting close...getting anxious! Going to try to grab first place for the MI Tour of Honor this weekend...(shhhhh) before I leave for a long Euro trip Monday. Then, I get back and we ride!
  19. Don't re-finish it...patina is cool. Clean it up, use it, love it.
  20. Cool, thanks! Most likely, I'll be in the U.P. Friday night, should be less light pollution up there. I used to fly for a charter company that did a lot of cargo work. This meant a ton of night flying all hours of the night. I got some spectaculars views of the Leonid meteor showers in my little Cessna Caravan. I even witnessed a meteorite hitting the ground one night, started a small fire.
  21. I signed up for a zombie run in July. Haven't really trained since my last marathon in 2010 so I better get moving, hope my knee holds out. Doing knee strengthening exercises at home and running in the park. My goal is to get back down to 130#.
  22. Bummer, I was looking forward to meeting you.
