  1. Moved three of them around the garage so I could work on my honey do list today.
  2. Rode the FJR to work and took the long way home, along the river. After dinner, took the wife to the local ice cream place on the Ural. Good day.
  3. Glad to hear she's doing well after that major surgery! They did that to my dad a number of years ago and he's still doing well.
  4. I knew you'd disagree, that's cool. You do seem to get your phone to serve you well. Doesn't work for me. That's all I'm saying. My Sena won't play music for 16 hours on one charge.
  5. I wouldn't necessarily mind using a phone for navigation, but every one I've tried fails in extreme weather conditions. It's either the extreme heat/full sun situations that cause them to overheat (plus keeping the screen on and running apps full time), HF vibrations from the bars, humidity, cold, whatever and they eventually fail me. My phone is too important to me when I'm away from home to subject it to that abuse, not to mention that I'm one of those geezers with a limited data plan. I've been using Garmin Zumo gps units for years now with none of those problems. They are tough. My current setup uses an old 550 for basic functions like speed and "what if" routes and a 665 for primary navigation, weather, radio and traffic. I also don't like using a Bluetooth device when I'm riding solo because of battery life. Yes, my Sena 20s has a cord that will charge the unit while I ride, but it's much simpler for me to just plug my helmet speakers directly in, everything being powered by the bike, no batteries to charge, no Bluetooth device to go crazy when it gets wet (the 20s does that, makes me angry). I can and routinely ride 14+ hours a day with no drama like this. For just casual riding or commuting, I wouldn't need this setup, but just a phone would be inadequate for long distance stuff.
  6. Added a CHT gauge to my three wheel Russian tractor.
  7. We went rafting there last year...it was a lot of fun.
  8. Used all my "likes" in this one thread. I feel dirty.
  9. I used to fly skydivers on the weekends up in MI. Every Saturday night they would do a "fireball". Imagine a giant pile of wood, a five gallon bucket with a pre-determined amount of 100LL avgas, a stopwatch and a flare. They dumped the fuel on the pile then waited a calculated amount of time for the fuel to change to a gas state and spread out a bit, then throw the flare on it. Mushroom cloud. Was kinda cool the first time I saw it, until they explained that it was a lot of trial and error, sometimes hair and flesh burning error, to get the fuel and time right.
  10. Good job handling that one. Pretty mild tip over and not too much effort getting it back up. I burried the FJR in some deep gravel along the side of the San Juan Skyway in Colorado last year. It took me half an hour to get it back to vertical. Had to dig out the gravel to get better footing and remove most of the luggage. The 8,000' altitude didn't help, had to take several breaks to catch my breath. The one car that went by during that time didn't even slow down.
  11. I can't make any of it, have to be in Savannah for training.
  12. I find myself in the Czech Republic at least once a year and my family name means "silver" in Czech. I would loan the guy a bike if I had an extra that wasn't currently torn apart. The more I travel the world, the more I find myself trusting people. A few years ago I started asking around the FJR forums about renting a bike in Sydney. In a very short amount of time I was connected with an Aussie named Phil who, after some texts and a little FaceTime, offered to let me use his own FJR for a couple days. I was floored by the generosity from a (mostly) complete stranger. I ended up renting a VFR because a stock FJR is just a bit too tall for me to handle comfortable, especially while trying to get used to being on the wrong side of the road. Phil, his buddy Pat and I rode an entire day together in the Blue Mountains, then we ate dinner with Phil's family and they let me crash for the night in a spare bedroom. Awesome people! We still talk regularly and hoping that I get a chance to repay him in my home country. It's easy to be suspicious, you should be, but in the end, the things I did in life will far outweigh the stuff I had.
  13. Ouch man! Those compression fractures hurt, mine made me 1/2" shorter. I didn't get a fancy turtle brace though, it was a couple pads and some bent aluminum bars. Guess I should have crashed closer to Columbus. Heal up fast. Im looking forward to trying to keep up with you again this year.
  14. Mounted new tires on my spare set of wheels, just in case I get to go to the ramble next month.
  15. Weird. Let me see if I can adjust the sporwalla setting. https://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=13cbb58e83ecbc7f0f&hoursPast=0&showAll=yes This should be the whole trip.
  16. In an effort to be home for Easter, I rode home from Texarkana yesterday. 955 miles in 13 hrs 20 min, from hotel to my driveway. https://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=13cbb58e83ecbc7f0f
  17. I put 125,000 miles on mine, trouble free. It isn't perfect, but it's perfect for me. Hope you like yours as well.
  18. Just did the first valve adjustment. It was stupid simple.

    Funny?

I laugh my butt off watching Rediculousness.
  20. Can you program the GM ones to work in a Honda? My son's TPMS light is on and it's driving me crazy, but I'm too cheap to buy all new Honda sensors.
  21. Got the FJR all buttoned up and took it for a test ride. Due to work, waiting on parts, family obligations, other bikes and various distractions, she's been grounded for about 45 days. Two things became immediately clear: I REALLY missed riding this bike and the Ural is EXTREMELY slow and crude.
