  1. Walking along the wharf in Cape Town today, stumbled across this bike. Being a new hack owner myself, I had to take some pictures. http://imageshack.com/a/img924/4664/hb27mE.jpg[/img]
  2. We have good meals and a couple drinks, but over a certain amount we have to provide an itemized receipt. Maintaining a certain professional standard is part of my employment condition.
  3. Adjusted the sidecar again and added hand guards.
  4. Got the new bike dirty and still haven't washed it.
  5. I'll take any of the iron sitting in the background...except the citation.
  6. Worked on sidecar alignment today. It was ok from the dealer, but not perfect. Spent the rest of the day giving rides.
  7. Sorry to hear that. +1 on the #FUCKCANCER
  8. My wife says it's the most fun she's had on a motorcycle.
  9. You're right Dan, I can see this thing shedding hardware on a regular basis. Fortunately, I also have a large plastic container of metric hardware. I bought a bunch of bolt on accessories when I got this thing and have found a need to replace a lot of the screws and bolts because they aren't quite long enough. Ural uses a lot of nylon insert lock nuts, but the included bolts only engage the nylon part by a thread. Good thing the Menards down the road has a good selection of metric ss stuff.
  10. Wow man. I'd be happy to take your better half for a ride, free of charge.
  11. It's weird having a reverse gear...and not having to put a foot down at a stop, even though I still try.
  12. Thanks Mike. It's an incredibly stupid waste of money, on paper. 75+ year old technology, low on HP, not known to be very reliable...but the the wife, kids and dog all love it and I even got my Mom to go for a ride today. I never thought that would happen.
  13. ...but it sure is fun! Plus, it has two wheel drive on demand.
  14. I need Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii. Next year (except HI)?
  15. Pulled all the accessories off the wife's sporty so I can trade it in on a new bike tomorrow.
  16. Agree. First person to hand me the cash gets it, but I make that clear to all potential buyers.
  17. I finally started my winter maintenance. I've been waiting for the weather to be too bad to ride, but that doesn't seem to be happening this year. At 124,000 miles, it'll be a mix of standard stuff - rear suspension linkage removal/clean/lube, valve check/adjustment, brake/clutch fluid change, throttle body sync, spark plugs, air filter, steering stem bearing lube/adjustment, corrosion prevention/repair : and known issue fixes - starter replacement (the original is getting weak), rear brake caliper rebuild, final drive seal replacement, radiator pebble removal and fin straightening (believe it or not, my rad fins are mostly plugged with tiny rocks), coolant hose replacement, voltage regulator to battery cable bypass, left aux LED light repair (pretty sure it isn't the wiring), airbox replacement (original has several stripped plastic threads that allow air past the filter - found a low time one cheap), vacuum line gunk removal (recently discovered FJR issue that may explain some recent issues I'm having), and whatever else I find along the way.
  18. Don't forget to register it with the FAA. :eyeroll:
  19. I tend to crank up TOol when I'm feeling antisocial.
  20. Thank God. I have no room left for another bike, but I really considered this.
  21. We used to shoot the destructive furry little bastards (groundhogs, not protesters) along the runways. Set up a lawn chair with a nice varmint rifle and a cooler of cold beverages and take their heads off when they popped up out of a hole. The port authority was very greatful and it was lots of fun. Of course, this was pre 9/11.
