  1. Of course, I plan on being on the bike 10,000+ miles this year. We'll get together for sure.
  2. First week of June I'm taking off with my uncle for a ~3000 ride up through Lake Placid to Acadia, down the East Coast and back up through Carolina and Tennessee. Should be a week or 10 days. I've done some longish day rides on the FJR but never done the camping thing on a bike, much less on something like the Daytona. @Danimal sure has used his SV for some epic touring so I'll be looking through his threads for tips. I think I'll use my uncle's massive storage capacity to share a tent, but I'll need to carry my other supplies. Planning on doing some hiking when we can. I haven't started looking for saddlebags yet, I'm sure there's a plethora of options. My tank bag will solely be used for the Aleve and ibuprofen to keep my back and neck from seizing up on me. haha My uncle is a fairly recent addition to the family, he married my aunt about 10 years ago and we are about exactly opposite politically. We just don't talk about that stuff and get along great when it comes to motorcycles, beer, cards, music. My dad and his sisters are going on a trip to New Mexico so my uncle has some "free" time and invited me to join him on his ride. I can't wait. Don't know why I posted this... Just getting excited thinking about the trip, suppose I'll use this as a catchall for planning progress and some pics when it's over.
  3. Throwing this back up to the top... We are able to provide training on the job, but you gotta work. Looking for someone to run a surface grinder, roughing mill, saw, etc.
  4. Small dent and missing paint on the right side. Hoping some grip pads will cover it. I didn't yell at her, but damnit...
  5. Took off the ignition module, still getting hot. About have the power commander itself out and Katie knocked over the tank onto the floor and into the XR foot peg. This sucks.
  6. Sorry, yes, I hear them come on. At 219°.
  7. Yep, fans kick on at 219 per readings from the power commander.
  8. Not there all the time but have the "professional' photos and access locked down.
  9. My understanding is yes, but with a good camera and lenses you can do pretty well without encroaching on the restrictions.
  10. Yeah, that's my thinking now. It's kind of a pain to get out, but if I can confirm thats the issue, I'll put it back and J.D. can play with the adjustment. Just hate to show up for a tune with issues. Waste of everyone's time.
  11. Yeah, I clearly f'd this thing up. I doubt the initial problem was an air bubble because I didn't touch the coolant system, after the overheat, yeah, that's a problem, but maybe not the main one. If I screwed up the wiring I would think it would either not run at all, run terrible (performance wise), or throw a code. That's not happening. Remember, this bike barely has 1500 miles on it. With the warm weather this week I'll a better chance of getting back to confirm what kind of a dumbass I really am. Uggg, at least the Patriots are getting their ass kicked.
  12. It didn't totally overheat, got one bar away and I made it back home. I'd say 5-7 minutes. J.D. said I may need to burp it a few times and if I can't solve it he'd get it figured out. This week should be warm so I'll try some more but I intend to have it to his place this weekend regardless.
  13. And noop, just sent J.D. a note. Damn. Happy to ride it around a little though, love this bike and can't wait to get it back to 100%.
  14. I voted for August but am game for what ends up working for most folks. Again, voting for a garage or two. I'll see if Dad will come up, he may ride, but he'd certainly bring his camera bag and take pictures. Below is one he took from his first time at Mid-O last year and my second trip on the big bike.
  15. I've been working like a maniac at work lately and it's been cold outside so any motivation was drained. I just burped it, I'm going for a test ride in a couple hours. Hope its better! If not, I'll just take it up to J.D. and not worry about it.
  16. I didn't touch the radiator during the install of anything. I'll give J.D. a ring and bring it up to his place. I don't want to make things worse!
  17. Didn't get to it, spent Sunday working on an addition to Katie's quail coop. I'll play tonight.
  18. I'll give it a good burp in the morning, see how that goes.
  19. Yes, I'm a dumbass and I hate myself. I put on a PCV, Ignition module, full exhaust, block off plates, filter. Bike start and runs fine initially, but quickly overheats, in 5 minutes of riding around the block it needs to be shut off in today's 60 degree weather. I don't notice any exhaust leaks, engine response seems good. After I installed the parts a few weeks ago I rode in 10 degree weather for 30 miles or so, didn't see an issue. On the way back home, another 30 miles and it overheated. Check engine light came on and I stopped until it was cooled down a bit and rode the rest of the way home. Loaded the full Hindle exhaust tune on it from Dynojet hoping to solve the issue (I did not load a tune on it initially because I'm planning to get it up to J.D. for a proper tune) and it idles fine in the garage for a while (check engine light went away after idling for a bit) but as soon as I take it out it's overheating again. The fan kicks in at 220 degrees, so I guess that's working and I topped off the coolant after it boiled over while in the garage. Up until I started screwing with a perfectly good bike, everything was fine. Yes, I'm a dumbass and I hate myself. At this point, I'm going to take it back apart and reconfirm my wiring. Any suggestions or places to start my focus? Uggg... another 60 degree day tomorrow too.
