  1. I finally sat down and looked at these routes. This is gonna be a blast. I will probably slab to Beckley, just for saving time (Only 2 Hours for me). Tuesday I will be taking 119 back up through. I have made this pass several times, it does not have near as much traffic as other slabs.
  2. +1 on no lock tight. I've never seen a manual specify to use the either.
  3. I've had bad luck with the the new style craftsmen ones. I really like the Kobalt ones. They are built nice, come with a hard case. I got 2 of them.
  4. So I attended the 2016 FJR Eastern Owners Meeting this year. This was my first big rally with the FJR folks and it was a blast. I left Thursday, ran across 33 to Ravenswood, WV and over to route 16. I stayed on 16 all the way through and picked up 52 in Virginia going over Big Walker Mountain. What a day. 350 miles of just awesome tight and technical twisties. This gave me amble time to get used to my new top case. I got to meet up with some old friends and meet alot of new ones at the rally. This year, there was 105 people registered. Friday, I rode with some of my Canadian/New York friends on a provided 270 mile loop. Once again, just endless great roads and scenery. Our pace was brisk, but not too wild. We kept our group sizes small which makes passing much easier. Then after an all day ride, the parking social hour lasted to throughout the night. Saturday I decided it was a good day to just go out on my own and see how lost I can get. Well i definitely did. I got on a secondary road, which turned into a mud road, so i just turned around and picked another random road. I made this day short, due to the previous 2 days were still wearing on me. Saturday evening was our banquet dinner, which consisted of a catered meal with several free gifts from many companies, door prizes, 50/50, silent auction, and a fugliest Hawaiian shirt contest. I didn't win a free set of tires from Bridgestone, but I did get a set of Grip Buddies. I tried them out on the way home, not bad. Today was go home day. I was going to 2 lane it all the way home, but the fog was terrible. I slabbed it back 77 and made it home about 9am. All in all, I had a great time and it made me really recognize how great roads Virginia has. The rally did have a few casualties. One deer hit on Thursday (Rideable), one low side Thursday (Brand New 2016, Rideable), one low side Friday (2014, Completely Totaled), and an automatic shift FJR shift solenoid failure. (Cracked Sub-frame Mount, He loaded the bike in a U-haul van last night and the van broke down this morning, rough weekend for him). Here are some pictures and a short video from the trip. 5. Unloaded and parked the bike in the garage. Now back to prepping it for the fall gap trip.
  6. Just got back from a 1000 mile 4 day weekend in Wytheville. Finished off a rear tire, but not tickets and no one in my group ended up in the ditch. Can't say the same for other groups. Everyone was alright though.
  7. I know people that tried the bargain route, their back to wearing glasses. My mom had hers done 15 years ago, just now started wearing readers, but that is an age thing. I had mine done by TLC. I think mine was $3600 for custom Lasik. 0% financing for 24 months. Made my last payment 2 weeks ago. Only regret is I didn't do it sooner.
  8. Just made it to Wytheville. 350 miles of twisty route 16. Only 9 miles of highway.
  9. Sounded like he hit some gravel then whiskey throttled and put his feet down, which then turned into an all out panic.
  10. It's hard to admit our mistakes, but when we do, it makes us better riders. Glad you're alright.
  11. Yeah i wanna keep space for my helmet. I will have to test the donut capacity when i get back.
  12. Bike is now in full touring mode for my trip this weekend. New top case mounted. Gonna paint it when I get back.
  13. I can confirm this. A+ roommate.
  14. I was in Fusar's beta program, seemed like a decent company. I made it to the last group or so before they sent out demo units. This was when they were pushing for the smart helmet instead of the Mohawk. I talked to the CEO once, pretty nice guys.
  15. Leaving Thursday For 4 days in Wytheville for the FJR Eastern Owners Meeting. Last time I checked we had 103 guys registered. Probably gonna make a route down through 16.
  16. Thursday cannot get here soon enough. The anxious wait for another motorcycle trip has started.
  17. Well you ride the ride that makes you happy. That's what motorcycling is all about. Just don't put other people's lives in danger. If you would have not came in brand new to the forum guns blazing and stuck around for awhile, you would have realized people here like to talk shit and poke fun, sometimes it goes too far or someone takes a joke seriously. I don't ride the way I do to be popular BTW. I ride my style of riding because I enjoy it. I don't ride wheelies on the highway, but I also got almost 15k miles in for the year, and enjoy a going peg scraping corner at full tilt. You do what you like to do, you don't need approval from everyone and most certainly don't expect it.
  18. Apparently his wheelies aren't getting enough attention so he had to come back here.
  19. Yes, people will drop if out of range for a certain amount of time. For long range connections, CB radio is still king, but I use my sena for primarily music and in town navigating.
  20. Well im still waiting for the mounting bracket, but my top case came in today. Amazing condition for only $245.
  21. They did the exact same type of video for the R1 and the YXZ1000R side by side. They usually live stream the release.
  22. Yamaha just shared a teaser video, looks like a new R6 is going to be released.
