  1. Thanks B-Mac for keeping 536 clean. Not sure what to say about the boner comment.
  2. Don't let the fact that you're riding in jeans hold you back from showing up to a group ride. The first time I ever rode with OR was at an epic ride. I showed up in jeans and a pair of Sketchers. I did have a jacket, helmet, and gloves of course. Nobody said a word to me. I rode in the medium group with Hellmutt that year. It was an awesome day of riding and I met quite a few guys and 1 gal. As far as jeans or textile. I prefer textile. To me they are more comfortable. I'm cheap so you may find a more quality jean comfortable. I bought a pair of jeans from Iron Pony for $60, and then found a pair of vented textile pants for $60 at Motorcycle Superstore. Hope to see you at a group ride someday.
  3. Left this morning around 7:30. I figured you were working. Eventually I'll get some weekends to free up and we'll get together again.
  4. I head back to teaching Monday. Today was essentially my last free day to ride before I have to go back to the joys of teaching teenagers. I ran my usual route of 164-9 into Cadiz. Then I decided to run down 250 to WV250 to WV7 and then hit 536-556-145-148-9. The new pavement on WV250 is already getting beat up. By no means is it terrible, but they have already had to do some patch work. On a positive note there was very little gravel, probably the cleanest I've ever seen 250. I had a blast. I need to ride that road more often. I basically used WV7 to get me to 536. To start my ride on 536 I ran into mowing. Not exactly how I wanted to start things off, but eventually things cleared up in time for me to run up on Bambi staring at me. Thankfully I spotted him early, and with a few honks of the horn he headed up the hill into the woods. After those distractions I focused on getting comfortable on 536. Definitely felt better today compared to when I ran it a couple weeks ago with Doc. I was not squeezing the bars and puckering around every corner. I still need to spend more time on that road. My plan was to run it north then south and back up again. When I stopped, however, I could smell plastic melting. My lower fairings were getting cooked from running at 10-12k rpms. I decided it was best to make my way to 556, plus I got some looks from home owners as I went by. I figured they would not be pleased to see and hear me 3 times. The rest of ride home was great. The only issue was I saw a car smashed into the guardrail on 164. Nothing like 450 miles for 9 hours to prepare me for the real world again. Took 1 pic (stole the idea from Doc) Note: sign said 536 would be closed 8/22/2017 for 3 days
  5. Derek gave some good advice on following others for lean angle which you will for sure do at Mid-O. Another idea is to mount the GoPro on the tail of the bike. It was my favorite video I took at Mid-O. It showed body position and lean angle (maybe exaggerated it). The video was a little unstable probably due to the tail not being the most stable mounting point and I'm just using an IPod in an Optrix mount.
  6. http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/mc-garage-video-motorcycle-steering-dampers-explained/?cmpid=enewsSPOvidpkg080717&spMailingID=30075106&spUserID=NjMwNjg1MTkyMDYS1&spJobID=1100785618&spReportId=MTEwMDc4NTYxOAS2 I did not watch the video, just the article and thought you might get something from it Nivin. Typically the video has the same thing as the article.
  7. I can see @what you have been doing your homework. I'm guessing you want to know what to do if things go south on that jump on 676 you keep launching.
  8. I usually get mine from Rocky Mountain.
  9. Doc as I think about it the way the bars were whipping you around I don't know if you could have throttled.
  10. I think I remember reading this in Twist of Wrist or somewhere as the correct response. I saw the whole thing transpire and doubt I would have throttled. He started to slide and I believe the correct response again is to roll on as well, but doubt I would have done it. Doc did exactly what I think I would have done. I believe he rolled off throttle and stood the bike up. The bike then went into the tank slapper after it came out of the slide and he ran out of real estate. If he would have throttled, definitely would have had to lean the bike back over through the left hander. @NinjaDoc I did not realize how much gravel was in that corner until I looked at the pic you posted. That thing was littered with gravel everywhere. I spotted the gravel in the middle as we came around the bend and saw you hit it, but I didn't see that it was throughout the corner. I experienced some head shake a few times at Mid Ohio coming out of the last turn down the front straight. I just kept on the throttle and to be honest I was kind of smiling about it. Might be some stupidity involved in that smile, but I figured it was a result of the front end getting light coming out of the corner. I just have the dampener that comes on the 06 1000rr, no adjustments.
  11. Looks like we won't be riding together on this one again. I can't make the 9th, daughter has a volleyball tournament.
  12. I enjoyed following you Todd. B-D are all reasons I enjoyed riding with you 2 at the epic ride. I would have rode with you 2 yesterday but the whole idea behind this ride was to ride with Jacob. Had it just been me and the couple in front on 78 I would have pursued you 2 around the semi. I did not feel right trying to go Mach retard with 8-9 guys behind me (I know Tonik this is your point, but I had a blast with the way everything was). We had somebody miss the turn onto 555 and waited quite awhile before heading out. All in all, as I said in the other thread it was an awesome day. I'd show up to do it again.
  13. Couldn't catch that thing either. It was great to meet you Todd. I'm assuming your daughter is okay. Yes?
  14. Despite some troubles this morning and on my way home it was a great ride today. Started the day off watching Doc go down. Glad you're okay Nivin. Then I picked up a ticket on 22 just before I turned off onto 285. It was awesome to see all of you that I have previously met and to meet some new folks as well. I had a blast riding with the group I was in. I spent most of my time trying to chase down a white Daytona or break away from it when I led. Never accomplished either task, but boy was it fun trying. Can't wait to do it again, hopefully I won't have to wait for over a year this time. To end the day, about an hour from home on the slab I got drilled by a bee in the neck. Nothing major just annoying. Thanks again for organizing this Jacob.
  15. Home safe. Little over 550 miles. I'll post more later. The Mrs. has things that I need to get done.
  16. Meeting @NinjaDoc around 7 in Canfield. I think he has a route planned for us to get to New Concord. Hopefully he is planning in US time and not Indian time. ? Can't wait to see you as well @jacobhawkins. It will be great to see the rest of you that I know and meet some of you I have not met. Thanx for putting the route together and posting it Jacob.
  17. Make sure if you want follow Biggie you remind to loosen the connection on my brake light so you can get that strobe effect.
  18. So @B-Mac who you gonna follow tomorrow? Your glock or Biggie?
  19. I just watched your ride video. So you can say what you wanna say, but I now know your secrets(not sure what they are really). Next time we ride that road it's on. No time trials like Tonik spoke of either it's straight up grudge match on the street. Don't worry I don't plan to be following you. I plan to stuff you in a corner and see you at the end, off my bike taking pics as you were. Totally joking btw, because my guess is it will be the same result as Tuesday. Me tensing up going where the heck does this road go as I crest a hill and head through the next blind corner at a turtle's pace.
  20. I don't necessarily hate 536. It's just a challenge for me. I'm just not comfortable with it. As a school teacher I know what my homework assignment is. Ride that road as much as I can until I've memorized it like 4th grade math facts. Then leave you searching for my taillight next time as I kept looking for yours. ?
  21. There was not much sacrifice here Doc. I still rode 420 miles and I was gone for like 9hrs on the bike.
  22. Andy are you saying you're available during weekdays at times?
  23. So what you're saying is you're in for sure?
