  1. I might try that. Thanks for the thought.
  2. Rpms never really jumped, just seemed to continually increase without stumbling. It was difficult to stay locked in on the tach because even in 1st gear at 9-10k you're moving pretty fast. I'm really leaning towards the fuel pump now. I usually ride with earbuds in and I typically turn the music on before firing the bike. A couple weeks ago I was just moving the bike around at the house and turned the key and the pump sounded much louder. Sounded like it was struggling enough to make me look for a pump on EBay. I even told my wife that I thought my pump was dying. Bike was running fine, however, as rode back and forth to work. I was riding more aggressive yesterday and I noticed it acting funky shortly before I stopped to get fuel but I just thought I must have been in too high of a gear. After fueling up and using the restroom I hit the road and started to focus in on the issue. At first it seemed fine, but then shortly after it started to have the same issues. I'm probably going to go ahead and order a pump off EBay. I don't think cleaning mine is going to fix it by the sound that is making.
  3. Of course I just filled it up before I came home. Time to look at the manual and see I can locate a filter. Thanks @Tonik.
  4. I tried something like this and it did not slip. I remember you mentioning something about being in a high gear and getting the clutch to slip. I even tried pulling the clutch in at a slow speed and dumping the clutch at a higher rpm in 5th or 6th , and bike just bogged. You may be onto something with fueling. I did not mention the fact that the fuel pump lately seems to be louder at initial prime. I thought maybe this could be my issue as well. Do you think a fuel pump on its way out could cause this issue?
  5. Today I took my bike out for a ride and ran into some issues when I would approach 9-12k rpms. I'm pretty sure it's the clutch slipping. I experimented multiple times on the way home. I basically started around 6k rpms and rolled the throttle on pretty hard in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd. All acted the same. I focused on the tach and it seemed to pull consistent all the way up to 12k but I could feel the bike loose power then kick back in. This usually happened somewhere between 9-10k rpms. It seemed like I noticed it earlier in the day as well as I went to make a pass uphill, bike kind of lost power then felt like it hit a power band and took off. I was not focused on the tach at that point, so I'm not sure what was going on there. Does this sound like the clutch is slipping to you? If that's the case what all would you replace? Just fiber disks? Whole pack? Springs? Would you go aftermarket or OEM? If aftermarket what brand would you use? Last ? The bike has a hydraulic clutch, is there much difference in replacing the clutch as compared to a cable one? The bike is 2006 cbr1000rr with 38,500 miles and has not always been ridden gentle since I took ownership of it.
  6. I would have failed tech when I went in July. I just changed my oil recently and installed a K & N. I had heard rumors of issues but this thread and the failure thread have me freaking out.
  7. I see this kind of thing all the time and it annoys the crap out of me.
  8. I'd like to be in on Jerry's first ride after he beats this as well. Not sure about the Sorebuttapoluza stuff, however. Been praying for you Jerry and will continue to do so.
  9. Thanks B-Mac for keeping 536 clean. Not sure what to say about the boner comment.
  10. Don't let the fact that you're riding in jeans hold you back from showing up to a group ride. The first time I ever rode with OR was at an epic ride. I showed up in jeans and a pair of Sketchers. I did have a jacket, helmet, and gloves of course. Nobody said a word to me. I rode in the medium group with Hellmutt that year. It was an awesome day of riding and I met quite a few guys and 1 gal. As far as jeans or textile. I prefer textile. To me they are more comfortable. I'm cheap so you may find a more quality jean comfortable. I bought a pair of jeans from Iron Pony for $60, and then found a pair of vented textile pants for $60 at Motorcycle Superstore. Hope to see you at a group ride someday.
  11. Left this morning around 7:30. I figured you were working. Eventually I'll get some weekends to free up and we'll get together again.
  12. I head back to teaching Monday. Today was essentially my last free day to ride before I have to go back to the joys of teaching teenagers. I ran my usual route of 164-9 into Cadiz. Then I decided to run down 250 to WV250 to WV7 and then hit 536-556-145-148-9. The new pavement on WV250 is already getting beat up. By no means is it terrible, but they have already had to do some patch work. On a positive note there was very little gravel, probably the cleanest I've ever seen 250. I had a blast. I need to ride that road more often. I basically used WV7 to get me to 536. To start my ride on 536 I ran into mowing. Not exactly how I wanted to start things off, but eventually things cleared up in time for me to run up on Bambi staring at me. Thankfully I spotted him early, and with a few honks of the horn he headed up the hill into the woods. After those distractions I focused on getting comfortable on 536. Definitely felt better today compared to when I ran it a couple weeks ago with Doc. I was not squeezing the bars and puckering around every corner. I still need to spend more time on that road. My plan was to run it north then south and back up again. When I stopped, however, I could smell plastic melting. My lower fairings were getting cooked from running at 10-12k rpms. I decided it was best to make my way to 556, plus I got some looks from home owners as I went by. I figured they would not be pleased to see and hear me 3 times. The rest of ride home was great. The only issue was I saw a car smashed into the guardrail on 164. Nothing like 450 miles for 9 hours to prepare me for the real world again. Took 1 pic (stole the idea from Doc) Note: sign said 536 would be closed 8/22/2017 for 3 days
  13. Derek gave some good advice on following others for lean angle which you will for sure do at Mid-O. Another idea is to mount the GoPro on the tail of the bike. It was my favorite video I took at Mid-O. It showed body position and lean angle (maybe exaggerated it). The video was a little unstable probably due to the tail not being the most stable mounting point and I'm just using an IPod in an Optrix mount.
  14. http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/mc-garage-video-motorcycle-steering-dampers-explained/?cmpid=enewsSPOvidpkg080717&spMailingID=30075106&spUserID=NjMwNjg1MTkyMDYS1&spJobID=1100785618&spReportId=MTEwMDc4NTYxOAS2 I did not watch the video, just the article and thought you might get something from it Nivin. Typically the video has the same thing as the article.
  15. I can see @what you have been doing your homework. I'm guessing you want to know what to do if things go south on that jump on 676 you keep launching.
  16. I usually get mine from Rocky Mountain.
  17. Doc as I think about it the way the bars were whipping you around I don't know if you could have throttled.
  18. I think I remember reading this in Twist of Wrist or somewhere as the correct response. I saw the whole thing transpire and doubt I would have throttled. He started to slide and I believe the correct response again is to roll on as well, but doubt I would have done it. Doc did exactly what I think I would have done. I believe he rolled off throttle and stood the bike up. The bike then went into the tank slapper after it came out of the slide and he ran out of real estate. If he would have throttled, definitely would have had to lean the bike back over through the left hander. @NinjaDoc I did not realize how much gravel was in that corner until I looked at the pic you posted. That thing was littered with gravel everywhere. I spotted the gravel in the middle as we came around the bend and saw you hit it, but I didn't see that it was throughout the corner. I experienced some head shake a few times at Mid Ohio coming out of the last turn down the front straight. I just kept on the throttle and to be honest I was kind of smiling about it. Might be some stupidity involved in that smile, but I figured it was a result of the front end getting light coming out of the corner. I just have the dampener that comes on the 06 1000rr, no adjustments.
  19. Looks like we won't be riding together on this one again. I can't make the 9th, daughter has a volleyball tournament.
  20. I enjoyed following you Todd. B-D are all reasons I enjoyed riding with you 2 at the epic ride. I would have rode with you 2 yesterday but the whole idea behind this ride was to ride with Jacob. Had it just been me and the couple in front on 78 I would have pursued you 2 around the semi. I did not feel right trying to go Mach retard with 8-9 guys behind me (I know Tonik this is your point, but I had a blast with the way everything was). We had somebody miss the turn onto 555 and waited quite awhile before heading out. All in all, as I said in the other thread it was an awesome day. I'd show up to do it again.
  21. Couldn't catch that thing either. It was great to meet you Todd. I'm assuming your daughter is okay. Yes?
