  1. I rode to Deals Gap on my 600rr with a Harley last year. We just had an understanding that at times I was going to blast on ahead and I'd stop and wait up at turn off points. I had a blast and my buddy said he'd love to ride with me again. I'd guess Jacob has the same understanding with his uncle. He does have more youth on his side than I do as well.
  2. Awesome Jacob. I agree with your thoughts on no backpack. Have fun. Post some pics of the Daytona loaded down and pics throughout your trip.
  3. When I was looking into getting the 1000rr there was a salvage titled bike I had some interest in. My insurance company said they'd insure it but it would be the same price to cover it as a clear titled bike. However, if something happened they would not give me as much money/value for it. So pay the same price for a bike valued at say $5500 but only have a replacement value of $3000-$2500. The 2500-3000 is just a number I'm throwing out there because they would not give me a hard number, it could be even lower. I passed on it. If your not going to put full coverage on the it may be an okay way to go. Realize you will take a hit on the resale value as well on a salvage title.
  4. Not 100% sure yet, but I think my daughter and I maybe there June 6-8. I plan to run Tonik's #1 route the 1st day and then I'm looking at something shorter for day 2. I think I'm going to run Foothills, 209 Rattler, hit a little of the BRP, 1 final run through the Dragon then hopefully to the Dragon Pitt where we hopefully will be able to get a room. Get there load the bike and head home. Get down there Tuesday evening and be home late Thursday night is my hopes.
  5. Is it 421 or 441? I was just looking this over as a possibility. I see 441 but not 421.
  6. Sorry for the book. Struck a chord
  7. When I first built my motocross track at my place the zoning inspector stopped at my house the next day and said I couldn't have that on my property. I said "what piles of dirt". I live in the sticks for a reason. It's my land and I plan to use it how I please. To me if I can't have piles of dirt on my track then the farmers near me can't have piles of manure. If I can't make dust or noise on my track then the farmer better get a quiet tractor and not make any dust in the field. The inspector settled down when I explained the track would only be used by me primarily and I was not holding sanctioned races or anything. I know a couple of guys on the township board now and I guess my name gets mentioned to them quite a bit about complaints. I've told both the guys on the board to tell those that have complaints to come talk to me. I told the inspector the same thing. I'm willing to work with people if they're willing to talk to me. Like maybe not ride before or after a certain hour. I typically don't ride before 9am or after 9pm, but I do ride for like 20min almost daily if the track is dry. To me if you want everybody to be governed on what they can and can't do with their property move to an area that has an association that has all the rules and regulations you want. I'm not sure where or what Pleasant township is all about, but from the video I'd guess it used to be a lot of open land that a lot of new houses are being built on and you have city folks looking to move to the country and it's not exactly what they wanted. Now they want their way or else.
  8. I just laughed out loud at the thought of this. That is definitely something I would do. As Justin said we need pictures.
  9. Got out yesterday for 470 miles with my daughter. We ran 164-9-22-800-145-260-26 into Marietta for lunch. On the return trip we ran 26-78-7-170. We were gone for 9 hrs and both had a blast. It's definitely more work and a little more uncomfortable with her on the bike, but awesome to spend that kind of time with her. It's fun to hear her change what her favorite road is after each stop. Her favorite started as 164 then it was 800 then 145. I know she enjoyed blasting up 26 on the return trip as well. I think we're ready for our trip to Deal's Gap.
  10. Bike was basically stock motor when I got it. It did have some aftermarket clip-ons which I left on. I had the stock taillight and turn signals laying around from a previous bike I purchased that I used. The plastic and mirrors are straight from China off EBay.
  11. Sorry to hear you went down Tim. Keep us posted. I'll be praying for you.
  12. Thanks Doc. I do just find the bikes on Craigslist.
  13. Ok I think I got the photo thing now. Here is what I started with. This is what I wrapped up yesterday. I'm waiting for turn signals to arrive and I need to pick up some grips. After that it will be ready to sell.
  14. Thanks @Tonik. I'll see if I can get it to work.
  15. Well that did not work how I wanted it to. How do I post pics correctly?
  16. Took my project bike from this https://downloadr.flickr.com/dl/e7e14973b9932425f550490c11a3fbf51b898ac2 To this https://downloadr.flickr.com/dl/51db6aba5a30e8a46572c0ede401eb05151f6aa3 https://downloadr.flickr.com/dl/6e7fb741a594b3d38881df7b5b680748d5b56a05 Just need my front turn signals to arrive and to pick up some new grips to install.
  17. Little over 20 of us got together last weekend for a cancelled ride.
  18. At times I don't have service where Verizon customers do. I don't know that it would effect you as much if you're in a bigger city, but it can be annoying out here in the sticks.
  19. Helmet: Fly Paradigm Jacket: Joe Rocket Alter Ego Pants: Moto Centric vented Boots: Joe Rocket Ballistic Touring Gloves: Fulmer something??? (got them for $15 at Iron Pony and love them) Etc: bicycle shorts, T-shirt, thin Nike pants
  20. Rode to work and the rear end felt a bit loose. Just replaced the Q3 tires with Pilot Road 2s. 2100 miles out of a rear tire kind of sucks. It will be interesting to see if I notice a difference in grip.
  21. Our route was not exactly the same as posted.
