After riding a super sport 2 up for close to 1000 miles when you ride it solo it feels roomy.

I finally caved and purchased this helmet. I ordered it over the weekend, it shipped out Monday and arrived today. Went for a short ride with it and it seems great. What I noticed most compared to my cheaper Fly helmet was the amount of air that flowed in from the top vents. I could actually feel wind blowing through my hair. Never had that with any of my other helmets. Can't wait to test it out on a longer trip. Thanks for a great deal @RidersDiscount

Ouch. Noted. Maybe not as great as I thought. I just started to use a Canyon dancer this year.
-
I used a dancer to haul my bike to and from the gap. Never had an issue with bars or bike moving around. I don't even have a wheel stand or anything and it survived Cincinnati so I'd say a Canyon Dancer is a great product.

It is the cycle. Just not how serious the seller is about letting it go.

600cc or 1000cc for starter bikes?(The never ending bike search thread!!)
durk replied to yoshiii's topic in Tech and Tips
It says the transmission is automatic. That should make a good 1st bike right? -
Sounds like a great trip Jacob. Glad you made it home safe. A 1000 miles in 1 day on a Daytona is impressive. You should get a medal for that iron butt.

This guy is really trying to help you. Find a bike you like and can afford. Go buy it and ride it. It does not matter if it's carb or fuel injection if it runs well. Chances are you will be looking to sell it and upgrade at some point anyway. This is your 1st bike and more than likely not your last bike you'll ever buy. I understand you are looking to spend almost all the money you have and that's scary. For $1500 realize you probably are not going to find a perfect bike. I would say the 1988 500 ninja that was mentioned at some point has been your best option. Go buy that thing and ride the crap out of it. https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/6117058030.html This thing was posted a month ago. Give him $1000 and you have money left over for gear. There are over 280 posts here, if you don't have enough information by now you probably never will. -
That's awesome Jerry. Have a safe trip home.

Day 3 Foothills Moonshiner 28 Last trip through the Dragon Loaded up and ready to make our way home By the way we ate lunch at the Dragon Pitt before heading home. I had the BBQ pork sandwich. I feel it was the best meal I ate the whole time I was in the area. My daughter also enjoyed the burger she had. I would recommend eating there based on our experience.

Thanks Jerry. Are you still on the road or are you home now as well?

Got home this morning at 1:30am. My daughter and I rode 740 miles while in the Deals Gap area. We had a blast. Day 1 was 100 miles at Tail and down to Fontana Dam. Day 2 was beautiful weather 350 miles on Tonik's route. We were gone for 11hrs. Day 3 we got a little damp on our way to the Gambler, but it turned out great. The ride on the Gambler was pretty dry and by the time we got to BRP roads were completely dry. We really got into a rhythm as we blasted up 28 on our way back to the Tail and made our way back to the truck to head home. We rode 290 miles in 6.5 hours. My daughter is a champ. She rode more miles in 2.5 days than a lot guys would even think about. She was sad we had to come home.

We made it to Maryville yesterday in time to ride 100 miles. Trip down and up the Dragon. Ran over to Fontana Dam as well. We are 20 miles from Highlands now. Pics later. Service is rare. AT&T ? Traffic has been pretty light everywhere so far. Had 3 pretty clean runs on the Dragon

Thanks for the link @Tonik

Loaded up and ready to leave in the morning. Hope to leave around 6am and be at the Inn by 3pm.

I was planning to take 28 first then return on Cherohala. I can go the opposite direction and we can plan a meet time and spot if that works. I'm headed to bed now. We can discuss tomorrow.

This one but starting from Dragon Pitt. https://goo.gl/maps/fgbbuk5zcn72

Doc do you have notes on every bike for sale in the area? I think somebody else recently purchased a bike and you knew exactly where it was from and you were quoting mileage or something about it as well if I remember correctly.

My daughter and I will be leaving for Deals Gap this Tuesday. We are trailering the bike down and staying at the Dragon Pitt Inn. The plan is to arrive Tuesday around 3-4pm and take a run through the Tail and let her check out Deals Gap and Killboy. Wednesday we're going to run Tonik's route. Thursday we're going to ride Foothills Parkway, 209, a small section of BRP, run the tail 1 more time then back to the truck at the Pitt, load up and make the 9 hr trek back home. Maybe we'll see some of you down there. Weather looks like it is going to be awesome.

I rode to Deals Gap on my 600rr with a Harley last year. We just had an understanding that at times I was going to blast on ahead and I'd stop and wait up at turn off points. I had a blast and my buddy said he'd love to ride with me again. I'd guess Jacob has the same understanding with his uncle. He does have more youth on his side than I do as well.

Awesome Jacob. I agree with your thoughts on no backpack. Have fun. Post some pics of the Daytona loaded down and pics throughout your trip.

600cc or 1000cc for starter bikes?(The never ending bike search thread!!)
durk replied to yoshiii's topic in Tech and Tips
When I was looking into getting the 1000rr there was a salvage titled bike I had some interest in. My insurance company said they'd insure it but it would be the same price to cover it as a clear titled bike. However, if something happened they would not give me as much money/value for it. So pay the same price for a bike valued at say $5500 but only have a replacement value of $3000-$2500. The 2500-3000 is just a number I'm throwing out there because they would not give me a hard number, it could be even lower. I passed on it. If your not going to put full coverage on the it may be an okay way to go. Realize you will take a hit on the resale value as well on a salvage title.
