Paid a "contractor" $500 and later found that his work is cr*p! Now I have to fire him and look for someone else to fix that mess. So, out $500 + materials wasted + aggravation + losing sleep and I have to work tomorrow. Have to thank the guy! He's lucky I'm even giving his tools back. Coulda bought me some nice stuff. On a positive note, I successfully changed water valve and it's smooth!! I'll take what ever victories I can get. Is this the right place for this post?

That's what I was thinking. Decent for a beginner. I had to reach deep to pull up something good about a single front disc! Rear brakes though, my rear disc slides so easy. I'm glad I had ABS on my first bike. On the Ninja 650, even with dual front discs, I wish they felt more responsive. Too responsive is not as good for a /complete/ noob. heh Upper echelon noob, yes. haha Wow, it's only 65hp? What's the peak torque? A flat curve does sound good. I kinda expected a little more from a 750 4-banger. Sounds like decent power though. No coolant, no coolant debate!!! Anyway, I said my stamp of approval was worth its weight in dirty water, so... -

Wow, did not know all that. Isn't the speed limit around Toukyou (Yeah, I know it looks funny.) like 25mph? -
Probably worth a go. However, I did notice that if I press the chin of my helmet to one side, one side becomes quieter and the other noisier. Definitely related to a gap opening or closing next to my jaw. Also based on helmet testing today, I think my helmet is little larger than it needs to be due to a mismatch of crown shape. So, I'd try replacing the cheek pads first. Cheek pads plus custom ear plugs are still less than a new Shoei, but then I have no reason to get a new helmet. What to do?
-
OK, so I tested some helmets. I found that the Shoei GT-Air and RF-1200 easily fit in large. BUT, removing the cheek pads and pressing the GT-Air forward opened up a gap in front of my forehead. In medium, it fit like a coconut shell and didn't move. So medium works if the cheek parts are changed immediately. I couldn't even get it over my head without changing the pads. The RF-1200 did squeeze onto my head, but the pads were overly tight. The RF-1200 has a massive field of view, almost like not having a helmet on! I was just slightly concerned about the forehead based on @tall_tracy's experience. Plus, noise reduction in a more upright position is the primary concern. It's a sweet helmet though. The RF-SR in large was way too loose. It was probably rounder, too. Didn't find a medium to try. BTW, I saw Scorpion EXO-R2000's for $90! I have a photo of a tag to prove it.

Gets the Hiro stamp of approval--worth its weight in dirty water. Standard seating position. Rear drum brake, probably less likely to lock up. Single front disc...pads will cost less? Air-cooled, on the positive side, fewer parts to go bad. Looks nice. A 750 should have decent power. The rear seat should work well with a net or tail bag. No fairings to break. What's up with the pipe under the right side? Rust? -
Oh, I have used a measuring tape on my head. I learned that it's important to check if the tape has stretched at all! Check the ruler with another ruler.

Not everyone wants to go into debt to get what they want. In this case, though, it is partly a need and for work, so... I guess I'm in on it! haha -
My FG-17 used to cause me to bite the insides of my cheeks. I dreaded needing to put in on OR remove it. haha After a while it leaves a dent in my scalp still. It doesn't hurt my forehead like it used to, but it will after 90 minutes or more. (I guess part of that is the wind pushing back?) So, it fit pretty snug! The large Airmada, I almost couldn't get my head into it from what I remember. haha My head is likely more oval than round.
-
Probably was worth a go, but they're out of size L. My FG-17 is a large, so I don't imagine medium would work. When I tried an Airmada, I think XL was more like it. I'm also wondering if it's good for a more upright/leaned forward a little position, noise-wise.

This is probably way too small, but it can be had for $1200. https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/6180888481.html -
Now that I think of it, maybe the cheap pads are /too/ comfortable. Meaning loose. What are the odds that new cheek pads would reduce noise significantly? And I'd like to try a different chin curtain if I can find one. I saw a photo showing a Scorpion curtain that was said to help. Looked like solid leather (vinyl.)

My current ear plugs. Claims NPR 33. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Flents-Quiet-Contour-Foam-Ear-Plugs-20ct/17324930 Had these before that. Same claim. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Flents-Plugs-Quiet-Time-Comfort-Foam-Ear-10-Pr/10318441 If it's worth putting gear on, I use the ear plugs. That's 99 44⁄100% of the time.

How common is a big cruiser in Japan? It might be interesting to ride one while you can. We have the roads for them! -

Maybe it's time to start a new thread to get feedback on bikes people respond to you about and ones you actually get to see? -

Weight doesn't mean as much once it's moving, unless you're into high performance. Just never stop with the front wheel turned! It's probably a feather compared to some big touring bikes! -
One gun could kill multiple victims, but one gun could also protect an individual from multiple aggressors. Why do we usually see the negative side? Accidents happen, that's why training should happen. OK, what if we eliminate all guns except revolvers, bolt-action rifles, and double-barrel shotguns? Grenades are definitely out.
-
Where would we be if doctors and engineers solved problems the way people "solve" political issues? Might have some crazy dreams thinking about that before going to sleep!
-
The forward ear is much quieter when my head is turned. Hmm...The frequency of the noise in the rearward ear goes from lower to higher and sounds smoother. If only I could grow a long beard.
-
I can definitely try on many helmets locally. I just can't take them out to check for killer wind noise! Maybe I should become one of those track-only people? (I'd have to start going to the track first. heh)

Yeah, RD deals is the only thing that make this an option at all!
