Evaluating a bike for purchase. One thing I noticed was a high pitch metallic "tinking" at idle. Anything to be concerned about? (I've been reading about cam chain tensioners.) Sounds similar to this: https://soundcloud.com/heath-taylor-4/2007-ninja-650r-odd-metallic Also, should I get new tires immediately even if they have very low miles on them if they are 5-6 years old?

There is a law about switching to the far lane if a cop car or utility vehicle is on the side of the road.

I have Rider Insurance and just paid $143 for the year for full coverage. Here's a quote from their Website: " Your policy of insurance provides Medical Payment Coverage according to the laws of Ohio. Medical Payment Coverages apply only to pedestrians when struck by your motorcycle. Medical Payment Coverages pay the cost of treatment up to $5,000 for the pedestrian from hospitals, doctors, and other medical providers. Medical Payment Coverage is not provided for vehicle operator or passenger."

Did the link mention the traffic light issue? It's sad that a law is needed to get people to give a bicycle room. It's common sense and courtesy, but maybe that's because I've ridden a bike in traffic.

I've read that it only takes like 15 minutes to damage hearing. It bothers me pretty quick. I prefer the sound of my bike when I have the ear plugs in for some reason.

Good to know. I have one older bottle of T6 left, but I was thinking of trying a different oil anyway.

There are Website on which an online petition can be created and signed. Like change.org Would that be helpful?

"New 2015 Honda CBR® 1000RR MSRP: $13,999 Your Price: $8,999" at Westfield Powersports How is that possible? $5000 off? Are they normally severely marked up or are they taking a loss?

I prefer to keep my feet under my knees, so no cruiser for me.

Is this anything like people loving the SV650 but hating the Gladius? I'm just thinking that I could get a deal on bikes that people hate. heh

My experience is a 300, so... hehe

I saw an add for a new 2016 FZ-09 for $6000. Good deal? (I would probably die on one.)

It does have EBC HH pads. Just read about activating the ABS system for a more complete bleed. Bleed, ride and activate ABS system, then bleed again. (If wonder if the system could be fooled into activating, or if a home-made diag tool could do it.) A vacuum bleeder sounds good, too. Thining again... Some people swap the Ninja's front caliper with a Gixxer caliper. Then I hear SV people swap the entire front end. Question: Why not just get an entire Gixxer?! heh
-
Maybe I shouldn't say spongy. The front requires a good squeeze to stop quicker. It reduces my confidence a little. The bike stops a lot faster adding a little rear brake. I did engage the front ABS at least once during a semi-emergency stop. It is nice to have. As far as a fluid pump goes, I've read about people still having trouble. Someone said it might have something to do with how the ABS unit operates. It seems to be a common complaint. The good news is, I won't be flipping over the bars by mistake!

My 300 has ABS. The downside is, the front brake feels spongy. The ABS pump is located just under the tank and the lines go up before going down. It's suspected to be difficult to bleed because of that. One guy showed how he raised the caliper to get it above the ABS pump for bleeding. Considering that kind of complication, I thought of not getting ABS next time. Although, it might have helped me couple times.

I'd settle for a pick-up. heh Looking at NEW bikes, I would consider the Z650, FZ-07, and SV650. Looks-wise, overall, I think the (white) Z650 is the best. For some reason the engine of the FZ looks nicer to me. The SV...while I would be more than happy to own it, it has the look of something that was crashed and repaired. heh I mean, only the tank is painted. Fairings "missing." The other parts are blacked out except the big, round headlight slapped on the front. But if it's the better bike, I'd take it. Actually, this one does look nice Also, I wouldn't mind trying one of those round headlights that automatically adjust to lean angle. here.

Wow, the Katana dry is over 70 pounds heavier than the Ninja 300 wet. Looks about double the power. I guess that would be an interesting first ride.

This is what got me thinking. Maybe I should be banned from thinking. heh https://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/5968183649.html

Why tho? heh (My 300 has 110-70-17 and 150-60-17 (stock is 140-70-17). Wow, I just saw that the 2017 Triumph Street Cup has 100-90-18 and 150-70-17.)

First hit on tire sizes for the 2002. Front tyre: 120/70-ZR17 Rear tyre: 150/70-ZR17
-
Hmm... I was spying a 2002.

Why is a Katana so bad? Is it just relatively bad or absolutely bad? I've been considering one just to have something with more power than my 300 and that is relatively inexpensive. If nothing else, wouldn't I at least learn to appreciate better bikes in the future? heh One thing though, dealing with carburetors, I'd rather only have two than four.
