    Happy July 4th

She's carrying 2 extra quarts of synthetic!
  2. Usually not air in between your double-pane Windows....unless you have a leak!!!
  3. Many of the better ($$) pads will claim a "R-value" for insulation rating. But as you say, if it gets compressed enough, that r value is meaningless. I usually carry a thin blanket in addition to the sleeping bag for added "r-value", or, I use it as a pillow. Speaking of pillow, after having some neck issues and being diagnosed with mild stenosis, I bought one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LW4CRSM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It helps a lot and folds away to very tiny. Only downside is it's kinda noisy whenever you move.
  4. Possibly, but a shock typically lasts longer than a fork, and you have TWO of them to worry about!
  5. Yeah, yeah....and after all that you still had full damping and spring rate, didn't you?
  6. Whatever. Im not gonna even try to rehash physics 101 after that ridiculous diatribe. Sleep on whatever or whoever you like. To the person that asked the original question,...dont get an air mattress.
  7. You do know that air conducts heat rather well...just ask your radiator. When air is trapped, and cannot readily transfer heat via conduction, as in closed cell foam, it becomes a good insulator. An internally open air mattress will circulate air from your body to the ground and back and you'll freeze your ass off!
  8. The big question is gonna be how do you drive desmo valves with a pushrod????
  9. This is weird....and very sad... http://wbmotors.ca/articles/breaking-news-ducati-sold
  10. Verify the condition of the muffler bearings and the turn signal fluid. You'll want to stock up on spoke conditioner and buy a sprocket sharpener.
  11. Amazingly sad how non-citizens have more rights than us law-abiding taxpayers.
  12. Test rode the Africa Twin DCT....pretty slick!...pun intended! Seamless.
  13. Just use minimal force, dont do clutchless, and your modern tranny will last longer than the rest of your bike. On the other hand if you want completely constant mesh, get a honda DCT tranny, as found in F1.
  14. Nah....koolaid lubes a separate (leaking) tranny on an American twin!
  15. 19 minutes ago, hiro said: The gears are always meshed, so I think it's different. Only the gear dogs interlock or release from each other. Unlike a car that will grind gears. I guess if it's done really bad, the dogs might not be happy. Not 10 Apply enough force and you're grinding gears. Ask why a worn tranny will want to fall out of 2nd or 1st into neutral. Metal on metal is always going on, with oil as the buffer. And you're right, the dogs take the major beating.
  16. Unless you do it perfectly every time, you are tearing up the transmission. Dont clutchless....unless you have shift assist pro by BMW!?
  17. No question...go with Self-inflator pad. Unless its always gonna be hot at night, you need insulation between you and ground. An air mattress with no insulator in it will suck the heat out of you like a bad date.!....plus, an air mattress is more susceptible to temperature changes...as temps drop, so does the pressure. The only downside of the self inflator pad is it can be bulky to pack.
  18. Tent is most important...Hard to beat this one for the $$: http://www.campsaver.com/kelty-salida-2-tent-2-person-3-season Next most important is the sleeping pad. Here's what I use: https://www.lightspeedoutdoors.com/sleep-pad-with-pillow-blue.html
