  1. I could unplug a coil if you think it might help.
  2. Hate all you want, Jim.. but I've two quick shifters and a microphone.
  3. Tires replaced and wheels reinstalled on the GSA. 2400 miles of the Smokeys put a hurting on them. New tires came in for the RS, so they're being installed tomorrow. Had to pull the muffler to get the rear wheel off. That would suck if it took longer than 30 seconds to remove. Tomorrow's adventure will be Helibar installation. Right now it's bed time because I've been doing actual work this week and I am too tired to attempt it tonight.
  4. Pardon me? The correct model designation is "R1200". Don't lump me in wirh those inline-four Motarrad wannabes.
  5. Don't hate the player. Hate the superior electronics package.
  6. 333 miles. Took 93/83/78/377/550/26/800 and had breakfast at the Triple Nickel Diner. Tires are horrible. The quick shifter isn't as smooth as the GSA, but it functions. The windscreen has two positions... loud and louder. The brakes will get a fluid exchange this week because I think it's running the original fluid. They have two settings.. slightly slowing and endo, but boy do they stop that bike right now. The engine belongs in a sportbike. It's so good. Torque everywhere. Riding position isn't hateful and the seat is decently supportive for a stock pad. The suspension is without flaw, although more harsh than the GSA over bumps. I presume the lack of telelever is the culprit and I am just spoiled. The dash is meh, but easy to use once you figure out which button does what. Cruise control on a sportbike should be mandatory. I like being able to touch the ground with both feet at a stop. 10/10, would purchase again.
  7. Meeting in Bolivar at 8am, for those interested.
  8. Removed the pannier rack and wiped down the shiny parts. The tires appear to be original, as this only has 5200 miles on it. Ordered new Pirelli Angels for it today. Going to give it a very mild shakedown ride tomorrow due to questionable rubber and holiday police presence.
  9. I subjected myself to southpaw lunacy and made the journey to retrieve it.

Not worried. If I cannot buy a Goldwing, I will buy the Grand America... or an old Pacific Coast. They're kind of all the same.

All in due time, Jim. I pick up the zoomy bike on Friday. Then I get to work detailing the GSA and moving it on toward greener pastures.

I'm about to list the GSA on cycletrader. Just sayin'...

The RT is a superb touring bike, but the GSA beats it out for on-road versatility. The highway is where the RT outshines the GSA, but I would take a standard R1200GS over both of them for regular sport touring duty.
  14. Shit... my dumb ass rides almost 700 miles for mediocre blue crab bisque.

2500 miles on the GSA, plus the 570 miles I put on Jason's RT on the ride home. That was some kind of moto-vacation.

I walked in the house to kisses and sushi. Life is good.

Nothing wrong with the GSA except the 2600 miles on the tires. They would have been showing cords by the time I got home. I had planned on riding home in the truck but plans change sometimes. I am about 3 hours from home and about to get back onto the interstate. I jumped off at 460 in Lexington for fuel and lunch and took the scenic way around Cincinnati... which may have been an error. Either way, I'm piloting a pretty amazing bike and it is very adept at chewing miles in comfort. Had a delicious italian sub at FatKats and that got me through the last 3 hours. Now it's time to hydrate and relax in the shade for a few minutes before I knock out the next 3 hours of slab. I am tired but not sore at all. The RT is brilliant and one would be in the garage over a Goldwing if I had any say in the matter...which I do not.
  19. Perfect bike for 2-up trips. Glad she's comfortable. I hope you both have many miles of memories ahead.

I rode my bike down last Monday. Jason trailered his bike with my truck. I had to get my bike and truck from Franklin to Robbinsville on Wednesday, so I towed it while Jason followed on his bike. Jason and Matt are riding home in my truck with the GSA and Matt's RT in tow. I'm zooming home on Jason's RT since he was kind enough to allow me to ride it. Jim is a troll. Everyone up to speed now?
  21. I hear the symphonic tones of a flat-six in your future.
  22. Yeah, I know the rule of law disagrees, but being able to zoom from 35mph to 60 and stay on line through the entire corner should be sufficiently adequate demonstration to nullify a law so grossly misapplied to vehicles and operators that know how to get down the road. Not my fault my crotch has a rocket under it and I can pilot it like a fiend. I just play the cards I am dealt.
