  1. Couldn't agree more with this. Our house has dimmers on every light fixture except for the garage and outside. I can't stand going to my brother in law's home for holidays because it's lit up like a Home Depot store. Not a candle in sight.
  2. Pauly is correct. Can't argue with that.
  3. Uh, kinda sounds like a "ride" I'm glad I missed. Gawd.
  4. Didn't you post a couple of weeks ago on a group ride thread saying that you only ride with people you know? Just askin'.
  5. This ^^^^. There is NOWHERE good to ride in Northeast Ohio--except for the gritty streets of downtown Cleveland. Move to southern Ohio or sell your bike. Simple as that.
  6. Welcome! I hope you're not one of those hundreds of jackasses riding your unlicensed trail bikes on the streets of downtown Cleveland
  7. A hundred bux spent on a tire could have prevented this whole incident. OTOH, let the air ambulance company try to collect. That whole process can become prohibitively costly, too. My advice: the next time you're planning an accident, check the rates first.
  8. Check it out: Diagnosis: Debt—Air ambulance costs local couple $53,000 - https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/investigations/diagnosis-debt/it-can-happen-to-anyone-of-us-an-air-ambulance-ride-costing-53-000
  9. I thought Starbucks was only for 65 year old retired executives who ride Harleys and try to look like ex-cons.
  10. I have consistently experienced this same "who gives a fuck" attitude at MANY gun shops, too. The sales people (and sometimes even the owners) couldn't care less that you have expressed interest in either a $2,000 pistol or a $20,000 moto.
  11. Don't know what grade level you teach, but I'm confident it's likely the type of math I wouldn't be able to do to save my life. We go back on the 15th. I live in Geauga County, home of the richest and poorest citizens in Ohio. We just finished redoing our intermediate school. I teach 12th grade CP English--parenthetically 😆
  12. I am officially embarrassed to be a (living) member of the human race. Can't unsee this . . .
  13. You obviously ain't in Tonik's gustatory league, Rick. Five pounds of lunch and hit the streets hard. When is your first day back at school? Parenthetically, I love Arby's.
  14. Facebook killed what I thought was a really great forum: BeginnerBikers.org Posts have slowed to a trickle--maybe 10 per week from what was once maybe 10 times that--and this happened over the past two years! Many posts there now address only the fact that they are withering away; very little discussion of bikes and riding. Also, I think Nivin is right. The new younger generations coming up have failed to embrace motorcycling as a hobby or sport. Harley Davidson's lackluster sales seem to bear this out.
  15. I think it would be relatively easy to exclude riders who don't share your values. Either you ride with known friends, or be quite specific about newbies regarding your preferences if you are planning a group ride. Just be honest and straightforward; even blunt. Not rocket science IMHO. If you advertise a group ride, you should expect a group response.
  16. Please elaborate on this for the benefit of all of us.
  17. A lot of this post is just good, common sense, and I completely understand your stance regarding new riders. In my case, I would love to establish a list of like-minded riders whose attitudes regarding safety and generalized preferences reflect mine, just as you have expressed here. But how is this list possible to cobble together without experience, vis-a-vis meeting/riding with new people? Some OR folks have expressed similar sentiments, i.e., "Who can I ride with? Who shares my values for what is considered a great day out?" If I remember correctly, Uncle Punk (Elyria?) recently shared his personal dilemma about this very subject.
  18. His Wing has the KC-135 Stratotanker option. The fuckin MotherShip of bikes. Beam me up . . . NOW.
  19. Perfect. And I'd be pleased to pay for your (outsized) lunch the first time we ride together 😆 It's hard to know which OR members live near you and me. My house is less than half an hour away from your house.
  20. (To continue from above post. . .) I would LOVE to join anyone from OR for a leisurely 40-60 mph ride through scenic areas around Ohio. That's exactly what I'm looking for, especially in the fall months. Heavenly. No slabs or overly challenging riding. Just an experience where one can enjoy the journey and the scenery. Does this resonate with anyone here?
