  1. The ignition switch is probably bad if the key won't come out and it doesn't work.
  2. Does your friend have a base model or a Type-S?
  3. Check all of the conectors on the disrtibutor, one of them will be the tach signal from the coil, a pin could have backed out. Your gauge could also be going bad, but it rarely happens. I have a similar problem with my CRX but I'm too lazy to fix it.
  4. I wouldn't let this guy touch my car! </font> redface.gif
  5. For a price I'll take a look at it for you. smile.gif
  6. If you don't match the rods and pistons accordingly, you will have piston to head contact. Sounds like a whole lot of no fun to me!
  7. I'm with RL. I will bet money that it's leaking from the oil pressure sending unit. The T off of the block for the oil feed isn't tightened correctly, or you didn't use teflon tape properly.
  8. Whats this rear end you speak of? Should my trunk have gears in it? tongue.gif
  9. I use it. No complaints here. If it's good enough for my car it's definitely good enough for yours.
  10. What good is a lug nut wrench with no spare tire?
  11. I hear Langka Chip Repair is the best, I'm not sure where to get it. If memory serves me correctly I heard the product produced by Mothers is the exact same thing as the Langka version.
  12. Are you talking about a Civic Si???????? If so the AWD models only had 4-speeds, and the drivetrain doesnt easily bolt in. Plus the drivetrain is very weak, litterally toothpicks for axles. It wouldn't last long in a rally, and especially with you driving.
  13. Sway bar bushings should be quite easy, but you may need a torch to get the control arm bushings out.
  14. That was my trump card! You took the words right out of my mouth. We have guys that have been wrenching for 25+ years, but I wouldn't let them touch my turbo with a ten foot Snap-On wrench! Last I checked Honda doesnt have any turbocharged cars, so I don't know where this guy would gain any usefull knowledge Maybe he went to JDM Honda School where they have the turbocharged Honda Beat? Oh I know I know, he did R & D work on the new Twin-turbo Odyssey mini-van! Thats it!
  15. You will need an exhaust mannifold that will mate the turbo to the head, a downpipe, oil and coolant piping for the turbo, an intercooler with piping, a blow off valve and some sort of fuel management to increase fueling under boost. The best thing to do is find out as much information about turbocharging a Cavalier from other owners as possible and then do it yourself. You will learn a lot, save yourself a lot of money and you will be able to fix problems when they come up (which is bound to happen with a turbocharged car). Hope that helps.
  16. Aren't you depriving a village somewhere of an idiot? BTW, what does Honda showing you how to do a timing belt job on a V6 Accord with the motor on a engine stand teach you about turbocharging a Civic? Ah, thats what I thought. graemlins/bsflag.gif [ 06 October 2002, 03:52 PM: Message edited by: bigbabyjesus ]
  17. Yeah Honda School is some awesome training! graemlins/gay.gifgraemlins/fruit.gif
  18. You's a quick one! tongue.gif
  19. What kind of car are you going to put this in? With the motors out of the Sylivias, the only real difference between all of the sr20det's are the turbos they come stock with. Internally each one is just as stong as the other. The best thing to do is get the correct generation motor for the chassis you are putting it in. That simplifies wiring and installation. If you are eventually going to upgrade the turbo there is no reason to get a later engine unless it matches your car. Hope that helps. [ 03 October 2002, 10:29 PM: Message edited by: bigbabyjesus ]
  20. Like I said, put in the NGK's and take those graemlins/gay.gif Autolites out and you should be running fine. Autolites will make a stock car run very bad, let alone your car.
  21. Home Depot in the plumbing section. The even have the clamps on them. Exact same thing that Greddy uses.
  22. It's times like this you must ask yorseld, WWMSD? (What would MArtha Stewart Do?) I think she would use velcro strips.
  23. Is your V-AFC hooked up? Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks........What is your base ignition timing set at (as in using a timing light, what is your timing?) What kind of fuel pump are you running? If you have stock injectors I would have to say their is no way you are running rich enough to cause the bogging. Check the pins(for the wiring) on your 02 Sensor and make sure they didn't back out (check the one on the exhaust mannifold) Make sure there isn't any slack in your throttle cable.....can't realy think of anything else off the top of my head. Hope that helps.
  24. Check your A/F ratio's. Sounds like you are running pig rich to me. If your A/F rations check out check your ignition timing. Also check your timing marks on the cam sprockets and crank pully to make sure everything is in time. That should get you headed in the right direction.
  25. Depends on what you would be using it for.
