  1. Will probably do food, probably somewhere down in that area before hand too. Who's in? http://www.studio35.com/index.html https://www.movietickets.com/purchase.asp?perf_id=653144904 Made a FB event too http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=151413204945882
  2. After seeing Anson's shit linkage I highly suggest against hiring him. :gabe:
  3. We just went down a few weekends ago and camped at the state park near there, Rock Fork Lake I think. Then went to the serpent mound on our way 'back'. We also took a detour on the way back; came across 32 and up 23. Stopped in Chillicompton at an amazing little dinner called Granny's on Bridge. A good time was had by all.
  4. Just do better for your kids than your parents have done for you. Generational inheritances of the way you raise kids, the kind of life you give to them and yourself, are very hard to break. That's what my mom did, and it's part of why I have an amazing relationship with my parents. Sometimes I hear stories about my grandparents on my mom's side, see things the did/are doing and I don't know how she got to where she is. Anyways, sorry I don't have any help with the parent situation, but just focus on your kids and don't worry about your parents too much. From everything I've heard on here, am reading in this thread, it's what you do anyways; but I wanted to point out that it's the right path.
  5. Who's the anorexic wanna-be-Jim Morison?
  6. Fuck, now I have to leave Howard and you in the woods to die. P.S. Multi-thousand dollar vacation which is essentially our honeymoon with thousands of choices != picking out a dumpster for a few hundo from 4 different local places. I'm sorry I have to explain something like that to you, I thought you were smarter than that. :gabe:
  7. Isn't that why you get quotes? Look, we all get wanting to come here and ask peoples opinion on things and appreciate the insight it can offer. I think we are just asking to do it for stuff that it's actually difficult to do on ones own, would take a lot of your ones personal time, has a large effect on ones life or is important. Finding a dumpster company fills none of those criteria. Grown ups can make their own decisions, especially the easy ones.
  8. It's a fucking dumpster; how hard can this be? It's not like he's asking for referrals for someone to birth his first child.
  9. Does anyone know if this is public info in every county, the whole state, or is it on a county by county basis? I've just wondered that since, last time I checked, none of the surrounding counties had websites for this yet. Probably have to go in and make a hand written request. :lolguy:
  10. These are not the owners you are looking for http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kxwc6iqtFR1qz4yzko1_500.jpg
  11. From what I've heard the guy who has the turbine powered one had a regular engine based one before this and sold it and built this one.
  12. Lulz, I bought the part when I first got that car, ~2.5 years ago and it's still sitting in my basement. Who needs the lowest 2 speeds? :lolguy:
  13. Link? Can you, in theory assuming availability, buy them directly from HP? Edit: Ok, I found that blog post, but I don't see anywhere to signup for email notification. Maybe I'm just blind. http://h20435.www2.hp.com/t5/The-Next-Bench-Blog/More-TouchPads-on-the-Way/ba-p/68749
  14. Same thing as my current DD (Pontiac Sunfire); blower motor resistor?
  15. If they offer and it if we take it I don't want 3 'dailys' and everything that entails. We would sell my current daily since it has the most miles on it and is the oldest, she would drive the jeep since my commute is 37 miles and her's is 4 and I would drive her current car since the MPG is much better. Plus if we had three DDs, once we get a house we would have to park it out on the street and have our neighbors call the cops on us. :gabe:
  16. Ya, we will see what they decide. We got an email from her mom making it sound like they were getting rid of it, then an email with the details about the car from her dad with him saying he wasn't 100% on getting rid of it and it's 'his' car. I just wanted to make sure we weren't going to get a time bomb, something that has known reliability issues with major systems that cost $$$$; motor, trans, 4WD system. Our cars now are fine. I'd love to have something that I can just throw the bike in the back or sleep in the back of without feeling like I'm in a coffin.
  17. Detailed info from the VIN... I think. http://www.compnine.com/vid.php?vin=1J4GL48KX3W718251 It's a Sport. As far as I can tell from the above link it's the 3.7L 4 Speed Auto and "Command-Trac" 4WD system. Anything good or bad to say about them? Note: We might be given this by my in-laws and it's newer, nicer and much lower mileage than either of our daily's. I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I just want to make sure we aren't getting something with known issues. They could always sell the car if it won't work for us.
  18. This. Sit down and make a budget. In that include all of the above and savings accounts for big things you will want/need to buy, and obviously your bills/expenses. Think of things like future cars, vacations, toys, whatever. Oh, and get an emergency fund (6 months expenses or whatever you feel comfortable with). I'd do that before 'investing'. Even putting $100 or $200/month into an account, it can really grow over a few years. One of our ideas of living within your means is to have a big chunk of money for a down payment. If you think you will want to be in a house in 2, 3, 5 years; it can take a long time to save up xx% for a down payment. Assuming a 100k house, a 20% down payment is 20k, that over 5 years is $333/month! So imagine a more expensive house or shorter timeline. If you save up a reasonable down payment and don't want to be in a house yet, you can always sit on that knowing when you are ready to buy, you have it. At some point if you feel comfortable with it and have some other liquid you can put some of these long term savings into 'safe' investments and (it should) make more money than a savings account. We are about to do this with our emergency fund and car savings since we shouldn't need to touch those. At least this is our plan. We sat down with a financial adviser the other day and he said it sounded like a sound plan.
  19. Anyone been? Which island to go to, what to see, what to do, where/what to eat? We are going to do about 10 days in March-April of next year. We like to eat good food and will probably want to do some excursions; snorkeling, kayaking, going to some parks/forest, waterfalls, maybe some biking. So far we are thinking Maui for about half of the trip and Hawaii for about half of the time. The only big reason for that initial idea is we have a long term idea of gong to all of the National Parks and these are where the 2 national parks are. Is the Island hopping as easy as people say? Should we even worry about which Island we fly into/out of? Seems like most flights are into Honolulu, Oahu, so if we go to Maui and Hawaii it's a concern. Anyways, I'm welcoming any suggestions as we are having a tough time starting planning as there is way too much info out there!
  20. But the who's going to bail me out?
  21. You likely wouldn't pay much more than that for a nice home outside of Columbus on that much land. Really depends on where and what house, but I know for a fact those exist. Sounds like house prices are around double out there. That's the west for you!
  22. Good to know. I've always thought the 10" tablets were too big, 7" seems perfect for ancillary use e.g. using it while on the shitter. But at $99 if I could find one of these I would get it!
  23. The Nook Color is another option if you are OK, or even would prefer a smaller screen. Has a web browser built in already and can be hacked to run full Android. They are $250, but that's still less than tablets, I think. Wait, maybe I'm behind on the times but is there a 7" galaxy tablet now?
