    rocket bike

It was a rocket, but I don't think it was solid fuel. It looks like he has a cylindrical pressureized tank where the bike's enigne used to be. My bet would be on a simple liquid fueled rocket that probably runs on Hydrogen Peroxide. That would explain a lack of smoke at the back since solid fuel rockets ignite a solid fuel by shooting a flame down the center of the rocket. Most solid fuels I've seen don't burn clear like H2O2.
  3. A friend of mine from school has a stroked 1G Talon and I've post the dyno sheet here before. The swap uses the crank out of an Eagle Summit (i think...what ever that tiny mini-van looking thing was called) Would you beleive they put a forged crank in that thing?
  4. http://www.gorillamask.net/ronmexico/ For those of you that don't know who Ron Mexico is, read up on Michael Vick's adventures. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/297721p-254905c.html worst.alias.ever.
  5. I beleive the AEM is ~$1200, I've heard the stroker kits are expensive, but it you pick up the crank and have it machined yourself it can be done for a lot less (I think my friend had ~$2000 in his), GT35's aren't cheap and he has a tubular manifold (~$1200) and a custom exhaust. Plus anything else you'd need to make it run right. (Injectors, clutch, etc.) *Those prices are assumed from what the same things cost on the Protege market and through word of mouth. I have not looked up actual EVO prices.
  6. Thanks to everyone that expressed an interest in the bike, but it looks like Steve will be taking it. Chris and Steve, we can arrange pick-up over PMs and over the phone. Obviously the earlier you can pick it up the better, but I should be at my house Wed night to load up a U-Haul so if you can't make it Fri or Sun that's the last chance. You will need a truck not only for the bike, but there's a lot of extra stuff with it that you'll need space for. Steve, I got your message. Yes, the right side fairing is the only one that doesn't match. The front fender doesn't match either, but I painted that black so it doesn't look bad. ok, lunch is over...back to my desk.
  7. Steve, you said you wanted it first but I had not heard back from you. There are a few other people PMing me about the bike and I have to get rid of it this weekend. I have a PayPal account and I can accept payment there. I'm not sure what the sur-charge is though. If you want the bike without looking at it get me payment by tonight. (PM me for my PayPal ID) You have to be able to pick it up Friday evening, Sunday evening, or at the very latest Wed evening. Those are the only times I will be in Columbus. Otherwise, a bunch of people PM'd me the same day and they will be invited to my house at 7:00pm Friday to look at the bike. If more then one person wants it they can draw straws/rock, paper, scissors/whatever to determine who gets it. If I had more time I could extent you more courtesy, but I am moving to Detriot and this is my last weekend I'll be in Columbus.
  8. They run in either the OSU lot on Ackerman Rd, or at Cooper Stadium. Both are pretty big lots.
  9. I will miss this weekend's event as well. I wish I could make it but I have to drive to Pittsburgh on Saturday for family reasons and won't make it back to Columbus until Sun afternoon. I may drive down and watch if I can make it in time for the last runs.
  10. Definately go to the beginners school. Last year it was almost like a test and tune but a guy rode with you. Not much advice was given. They said this year they would like to turn it into more of a real school where they go over proper technique and you'll get plenty of runs for practice. I'm moving to Detriot in about a week so I'm going to miss most of the OVR schedule. I definately won't make the drivers school but I might be down for a few points events.
  11. I believe his wife was co-driving at the T&T and I beat her but was 7-8 tenths behind Phil. I think she was close to the same interval behind me. (your 'custom status' read Type R for a while too. And yes, I was fairly sure it was a joke)
  12. haha, you're the one that claimed to have the Cavy Type R. My car's just a base Protege...really. ...I wish I was l33t, i mean cool, too. Test and tune was good. I was the second fastest STX car there. I only lost out to Phil Croy in a nationally prepared WRX. martindc1 - Street Pilot is right too. I know a guy that used the magnetic vent covers too. You are size limited with those, but they should be readable from a far. I'm partial to making your own since I've seen some people charge outrageous prices for magnets.
  13. www.myautoevents.com has nearly ever event listed anywhere and you register through them. You can also check out www.ovr-scca.org for a local schedule. There is an OVR event at Cooper Stadium (i think) this Sunday. You have to pre-register through My Auto Events.
  14. Cut Buick, and cut GMC while consolidating the truck lines, stop making the fucking Grand Am when the G6 is already on sale. If you noticed, the article says a lot of the loss was one time fees, like the payout to Fiat. Hopefully with more new model introductions this year they will end the year on a better note.
  15. Wow! You are a fast autocrosser. I also wanted to add that if you plan on only doing it once or twice you might as well just use contact paper or painters tape.
  16. Doesn't Auto Zone or Advance loan them out for free?
  17. One place would be www.soloracer.com They ship fast and were easy to deal with when I got my harness through them. I actually went to an arts and crafts store, bought a sheet of magnetic material that had a white laminate on one side, and cut out my own. EDIT: Just to add...I think mine cost about $12 to make. 18. I would tend to disagree. How will tubular A-arms eliminate a drivetrain resonance? As far as I know it's your bushings and motor mounts. Do it cheaply and fill your motor mounts with 3M window weld. (It has polyurethane in it and is a common "mod") If it's not completely gone move on to stiffer bushings. [ 18. 19. Get some stiffer motor mounts too. (Or fill the empty space on the stock ones)
  20. I was in Detroit all weekend. Sorry I couldn't respond sooner but there's a lot of things I had to get done for my move. I have responded to all PM's. Mace, I haven't started the bike in about a year. (right after I put in the new clutch) It should start as it sits, but I don't know how well it will run. After sitting for so long it probably needs a tune-up.
  21. Steve, those look sweet. Who's making them? The guy doing my manifold and piping is developing an EVO manifold as well and it looks a lot like that.
  22. Congrats Sam! There was a thread a week or so ago where someone asked with exhaust to put on his Z06 but I couldn't find it. I would suggest the B&B though. Friend of mine has it on his and it's the best sounding one I've heard.

    bethel road

No, he's talking about behind carraige place...the road that goes between the shopping center and the bordering condos and connects to Sawmill across from the bowling ally. It's 25mph back there and there's almost always a cops there, not just in the morning.
  24. I second most everything people have already said but I'll add a bit. -The Stratosphere is ghetto compared to other places. I'd try to get closer to the center of the strip at night. (Bellagio, Caesars, Bally's area) -In Flamingo there is Jimmy Buffet's Margarita Ville. The food is ok, but during dinner hours they have a show every hour or hour and a half in the restaurant area. The upstairs has a patio tat looks out on the strip. If it's a nice night go up there. -The Pirate show in front of Treasure Island has changed into a "Pop-y" dance and singing show. It's not as good as it used to be, but it's ok. -Go downtown. The beer is a lot cheaper and they have a lot of live entertainment on the street. -From the airport there are some shuttle busses that charge a flat fee for parts of the strip. That may be cheaper then a cab depending on the time you're flying in. -Walk the strip. Some of the hotels are very extravagant and cool to walk through. -There's an indoor go cart track off the strip that's fun and not too expensive. (Like Speeds) -The Boardwalk (near Monte Carlo and NYNY) and the Orleans (off strip) have $3 Blackjack. It won't be fun for your g/f to stand there, but if you're looking to play for cheap those are the places. -Luxor and Mandaly Bay (and possibly others now) have daily poker tournaments. (Luxor at noon and I think 3) Register early, $25, entries are limited. -There are some cool bars around the strip. I've heard good things about Coyote Ugly in NYNY, but I never made it there. I was there for a week in Oct and last year for 4th of July. If you have any other questions just ask. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things.
