  1. Depends on what he wants to do with it. Is he a drag racer, autocrosser, road racer, or does he just want a fun daily driver? A friend of mine used to have a 2000 T/A WS6 that was prepped for ESP. It was competitive and very fun to drive.
  2. Sweet! Racer X You scored -27% Congratulations. You are the real thing. Chances are you could tear down your engine and put it back together in a weekend. You know a decent amount about racing dynamics. The "FATHF" culture has been a bane to your existence since you've been in the game for years before that horrid movie was released. Auto-x, drag racing, track time, you know enough to not sound like an ass while talking about it, and you can probably hold your own on the track too. Race on, good citizen, for you are a true Racer.
  3. haha, damn, that's an old post. In this thread I'm only saying no to forced induction. GM doesn't need forced induction to get 500HP. As far as that old thread, there are still conflicting reports of what engine is in the Z06. Mainly because they tell suppliers different numbers. If you read the Motor Trend/Car and Driver/The Car Connection you will see a conflicting report of what's in the car. I would not take what's posted on that web page to be fact, but it's not out of the question.
  4. No. The Blue Devil was built, but project was axed. As far as turbo GM cars, keep your eyes on the news. Probably another year or so.
  5. Our team made a presentation to the president of our company and they decided to sponsor us. We are now using the car to promote and raise money for Habitat for Humanity. People can make a flat donation to us, or pledge an amount per hour of work a team member puts in on the car. We are keeping a log of who works and for how long. If anyone would like to donate, PM me. Not only would it help a good cause, but it would show support for the team and maybe the company will consider more things like this in the future. It's not often you will find a company support their employees in a project like this, so we are hoping everything goes weel so they're happy. I will probably make an 'official' post about this soon. I'll be able to upload some pics this weekend, then I'll clear it with the Mods so it's not interpreted as a solisitation.

  7. +1 HAHA Eric, you should get to a library and watch it there.
  8. NWS for language. Found on another forum. Not sure where it came from, but kinda looks like 'Bumfights' http://members.shaw.ca/fivelitermustang/holdingitdown.wmv Edited title. No racial slurs, whether outright or implied, is tolerated. [ 18. October 2004, 07:32 PM: Message edited by: Elinar Longsight ]

  10. I've heard they'll be out around Christmas or the beginning of the year, but no official word yet. Should be semi-mod friendly since it was actually built for boost. Here's a link with a lot of information. The torque curve looks NICE! http://www.triplezoom.com/news/publish/article_242.shtml
  11. Neo, what you say seems to be in line with everything I've read. Like RecklessOP said, the pistons are oddly shaped in order to concentrate the a/f mix near the the spark plug. Mitsubishi has been using DI for a while. In the 1980's GM pioneered DI technology, but the program got shelved. Mitsubishi continued with what GM started and refined it to where it is today. The Mazda engine has been in production in Japan, so it's not exclusive to this model. From everything I've heard, this powertrain is built a lot better to handle boost with great power delivery and drivability. (Unlike my car which basically got a bolt-on turbo kit) I have personally not driven it, but a friend-of-a-friend has, and he says the car is pretty solid. I will be watching dealer lots closely.
  12. I also like that this engine is basically the same 4 cyl (minus the DI) that's in the Mazda3. And the MazdaSpeed 3 should be out in around a year or so. Hopefully this engine finds its way into some other vehicles.
  13. In Japan the 6 can come with AWD, that's where they sourced it from and why they had to use the 4 cyl. The RX8 is next on the list of Mazdaspeeds to come out. They have already had some test models given to magazines, but they only have the revised suspension, with the stock engine. I've heard a rumor of a s/c engine in the MS RX8 doesn't it also keep temps down? maybe i'm thinking of something they implemented on race cars but from what i understand the fuel forms kind of a boundary layer on the walls of the combustion chamber...</font>I know nothing of this, it may or may not be true. The main advantage of DI is that you can run really high compression ratios because you don't have to worry about detonation. Compression ratio is directly linked with efficiency, so every little bit helps. The only thing to be afraid of is the amount of pressure a DI fuel rail requires. The diesels are around 27,000psi. I was driving one of these when the fuel rail came loose and sprayed the engine down pretty good with diesel. Not cool. Although if it makes production, the bugs will most likely be worked out, and hopefully all is good. [ 10. October 2004, 05:01 PM: Message edited by: Mallard ]
  14. fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber as opposed to inside the intake port. It's a good thing since you don't have to worry about detonation as much (you can inject the fuel any time you want.) and it helps effeciency. smile.gif

  16. What are you doin to it? My buddy just got finished putting his stroker together with his 16G. Ran 12.6 on pumpgas before it was stroked, with no launch, now he's hoping for 11's after it's broken in. Laying rubber in 3rd with AWD is
  17. No. "Retro" does not entail styling elements that have EVOLVED. Retro is elements that are nearly identical to the old. By your standards the fender arches on a C6 Vette would be retro. They are not. Not even close. The scoops on a 93+ mustang are a completely different shape, bear no resemblance to the originals other then their position on the body. The new Mustang is god-awful and completely 'retro' inside and out. For that matter, the entire 'Bullit' interior is retro too. See the difference yet?
  18. As I said. This pic means nothing. Some guy photoshopped the promo pics of the Chevy SS concept. They mean nothing. The doors, mirrors, vents, roofline, door handles, etc. are all the same, just cut and pasted. There may be a 2008 Camaro in the works, but this pic means nothing.

    Online Courses

I took an online course. But I didn't complain because it was easy as shit.
  20. It is 18 and up. People under 21 have to buy the t-shit and wear it so they know. It's BYOB and you have to pay for a tray of ice for your beer. They'll nail you for something since they can't sell it to you. I've been there once, it is full nude, and they had some decent looking girls. Gotta love $1 lap dance time. oh yeah, and if you want a REAL strip club, forget Windsor, forget TN, go to Vegas.
  21. Look familiar? http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_chevrolet_ss-2.jpg
  22. I Agree 100% Don't get all worked up over this picture. It's obviously a photoshoped image of the promo pics of the Chevy SS concept from a few auto shows ago. The guy just moved some styling elements around and created a 'new' front end.
