Hey all is there a good local source for mild steel turbo hotside tubing? Thanks!

Nice! I am really surprised at how much the earlier models of Cayman have depreciated. It actually looks to have depreciated worse than the Boxster, but I am no expert. Did the previous Cayman only come in tiptronic with 4 lug wheels? Maybe that explains it... Don't get me wrong, I love Porsche cars, my family has had several and were pretty active in the porsche club back in the day, I am actually really intrigued by this car, but if I really just wanted a track toy, I think I would just buy a z06 corvette. Actually I would probably just build a factory five 818 and try to get 500 hp out of the turbo subaru boxer four (I wont deny that I have considered putting my outback H6 in one). 1800 lbs, mid engine, with 500 hp would be unreal, 400 may be plenty... I guess it's a Porsche thing and I just wouldn't understand (or don't anymore).

Thanks guys! I will do some research on these places you suggested.

Hey all- I am trying to locate a nice campground to take the family (kids 5,3,5 months) that is less than 5 hours away. Ideally it would have good fishing (IE bluegill or other fish that small kids can catch and not lose interest), boat rentals, camping with tents and cabins, and beautiful scenery for hiking. If it had the option of expanding into hunting that would be even better as the kids age. Obviously the upper peninsula michigan would fit the bill but I am not sure we could even make it to the bridge before the kids have a fit. I thought about lake erie/putin bay but have heard its not what it used to be and mainly for singles and partying. Maybe something near lake michigan? I thought about joining an outdoors forum in ohio as well- does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

"Easiest" Factory Boosted Setup for 650 Flywheel HP
hpfiend replied to hpfiend's topic in Passing Lane
Haha i should have put for ME to get flat 10s. In two different cars I would need the same number - 250 rwhp 14.0 in 3700 lb car- 13.0 corrected for 2700 lbs. 350 rwhp 12.3 in 3000 lb car 12.0 corrected for 2700 lbs. Either of those cars would have needed 550 to the tire for me to get a 10 flat. It wasn't for lack of trying either hehe i put about 50-75 passes on both. We won't even talk about the corvette!! Granted those were all manual transmission cars but I had slicks or cheater slicks on all but the Vette. I am not abusive enough or coordinated enough or something to match these internet crazies. -
"Easiest" Factory Boosted Setup for 650 Flywheel HP

Thanks for all of your responses- Reason for the 650 hp is that I need about 550 at the rear wheels to run 10 flats in the quarter with my 2700 lb gremlin. Maybe a bit less will actually be needed but I can always bleed off the boost. -

Interesting, it looked like a diy rear mount with a huge meth injection kit. I dunno why he ditched the front mount. -

I have very limited time right now- the setup has had a recurrent dead spot for years - third carb had major leaks and then it got cold before I could get another bowl and start tuning it. I don't want to take it down in the spring when the tracks are open and miss a season of running it and feel that if this dead spot isn't carb related it is going to be much worse under boost. I have another rolling chassis I could work on while racing this one- ultimately when this engine blows I am going to switch over to the other setup I am discussing or start over LS. Would have ditched the sb for an ls already if it weren't for the down time and I have a lot in a blow through carb i would like to use and trying to fit another v8 in the other chassis doesn't make a lot of sense as I don't have room for an intercooler now. -

What about a cummins diesel? There was a full size truck one of the only times I could make it to the track last year that ran like an 8 or 9 something in the quarter. Isn't the SC300 the same basic engine as the 2JZ sans turbo? I just don't have the time I would like to work out the bugs with the current SBC turbocharged setup I am working on and am exploring other options that are designed to work together. This is for an AMC Gremlin chassis. 2700 LB, TH350/400, built 8.8. -
Hey all, been a while- Which platform would you go with and why? I think 650 at the flywheel is pushing the reliability/$$ factor on the 4AG63T? (dsm), or the ford 2.3 L Turbo from the 80s, but I could be wrong? GM turbo 4 from the Saab/cobalt ss? Dodge srt4 neon engine? Buick 3.8 turbo? (GN) What about the 3800 II series supercharged setups from the grand prix and bonneviles? 2jz supra comes to mind but aren't they ridiculously priced? Isn't there a camry or Lexus engine you can add a turbo to and duplicate it? The kicker is that it must be able to be mounted longitudinally either by design or with an adapter for front engine/rwd. Terminator/shelby/dohc v8 setups are too big. Thanks in advance!

what rims are on it? How are the window surround trims and the dash piece above the glove box? Does it have a hitch?

Hey all! Does anyone have one of these XD memory cards laying around? I bought my 5 yr old son a digital camera for $2.00 at a garage sale to play with and it doesn't have a memory card. Thanks!

Thanks for posting Ben! I am selling the line lock and MSD off of it now if you have any interest as you purchased them originally. I know you mentioned you wanted the 8" rear before also but i am not sure what I am going to do with it yet. Oh btw I took the rubber snubbers out of the traction bars when I put the rear end in and haven't got around to cutting them down and replacing them. Interestingly it has been launched at the track several times with no banging so I think a bit more weight transfer is still needed!

Hello- I am going to be doing a few changes to the Gremlin and have a few parts for sale. I figured I would try here first before evilbay and save shipping/fees. The line lock is from Biondo Racing. It is rebuildable and very similar to the Moroso version. It is in like new condition. It has had fluid through it for testing but never used for a burnout. I bought another line lock, as I thought it was faulty and then discovered the lines were reversed on the master cylinder after the second new line lock wouldn't release either. $30.00 MSD 6AL PN 6420 - It features multiple high powered sparks, a high RPM spark rev limiter, easy tach output, lots of add on options. The box works great and is currently installed! $150.00 Prices are OBO. Thanks!

Preferably with gasket. Anyone have one of these locally? Thanks! Andrew

Are you referring to Ben? No 2-step.

It's a 3k rpm stall. First and second are strong but third is weak. It has a 3.73 rear gear. It pulls the same et as it did with 2.79 rear gears as we didn't have to shift to third. We only drive it to the track and back.

Yeah the dead spot and hold it back ...

How do I prevent it from rolling? That should solve the pump shot issue...
