  1. We all know regulation's are the reason cars kept getting more expensive for the most part. We don't have crash tests and EPA for cell phones. It would be kinda cool to figure what something like a Galaxy S5 would cost in 1995. Just the processor 2.5GHz quad core the size of your fingernail would have been impossible at the time so the price tag would have to include R&D unless you wanna make it the size of a building and then your gonna need to build a power plant next to it. I'm a cheapass. I have had a couple things that where brand spank'n new and loved it. I didn't have to fix it, not just talking cars. Its so nice to have things work right instead of having to rig crap up because I'm and resourceful. Though usually when I see what that luxury costs I end up going cheap.
  2. We get rid of cable every once in a while. If it were up to me I'd not have it, but wife likes watching those chick shows on TLC, ID, ect. Though what she means by watching is sleeping with the TV on. The kids and I watch Netflix, amazon, and lately I've been watching a lot of documentaries on YOUTUBE when I do watch TV which is almost never.
  3. You still have a contract that doesn't allow hot spotting without paying extra? I thought Verizon stopped that years ago I've been doing it free for years on Verizon. These days data is data. I do it on an S4 and S5 right now.

    Been there many times.
  5. I'm sure they aren't the best out there but I picked up an iHome Speaker on a clearance at Sears $10. I'd been looking at them a while and couldn't pass that deal. It sounds great even for its regular price which is why I grabbed it. . They can connect multiple speakers as well.
  6. I was at first but finally I decided; a) I already picked the best of the best b) The client doesn't know what I shot or how many so its all the same I do keep the files around 90-180 days just in case of something interesting coming up, but I deliver final stuff in under 30 days and thats what I end up keeping.
  7. Nice, VW is gonna be hit hard for awhile. Will make a nice rebound, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a year or more.
  8. I run server 2012 at home, mostly for the fun of it and I have my storage drive backed up to google drive for less than $10/mo per TB. I'm not exceeding 1 TB since for my business I only keep final edit JPG files and delete the RAW data once a job is complete.
  9. I was just using my Banner scope this weekend. I bought mine a couple years ago for well under $100, but now it seems they are expensive. http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Mil-Dot-Reticle-Riflescope-6-24x40/dp/B000GEWB52 I've seen better prices around, but nothing as low as I got it for awhile back. It reviewed great back then and my personal opinion of it is that its a great scope. Very well made and probably should be priced more like I'm seeing now. I have it on an smith & wesson MP15 and at 100yrds laying down with the rifle resting on a pillow I shoot 1-2" patterns with cheap steal cased ammo.
  10. Your completely right, but there's the "we don't have to do any of this in our other field offices" line that completely blows it all up, LOL. They just walk in, sit down and start using the other offices like magic. I'm willing to bet that they walk in and their laptops magically connect to a "router" on a "network" and then everything works. Blah all 5 users are building engineers too so you'd think they could get a simple concept like "you no have network, it no worky".
  11. So you think 4-5 jetpacks can connect to a single wireless print server? And of course this is a "minimum" hardware situation too. Hate having to walk on eggs shells around the client, sales rep and service manager in these situations.
  12. We got five jetpacks one for each user. This is one of those looks good on paper deals and a sales rep stuck me in the middle.
  13. I have a construction client that works from field offices. They Verizon jetpacks for each user to connect to a VPN. I have a wireless router connected to their copier and I need all the users and copier on the same network. Will a wireless bridge do the trick? Ultimately I need the copier to scan, print, etc without having the user switch wireless networks constantly
  14. Fastenal probably has them. They are all over. One on Worthington rd for north end.
  15. Sounds like service manager knows, and said "that's how he is". In that case ignore him, call his bluff or get a new job. He's just a little bitch who'll act like that if he can get away with it. If he actually hits you, then you got ammo to do something about it.
  16. The DOW chart doesn't look promising, I think China is gonna continue to mishandle things as they do. Good news is investors will probably turn to American markets for stability at some point.
  17. Personally if I used a financial planner I'd only work with one who gets paid by the hour by me for their consulting services. The mutual fund store has info on how to find these types on their website. Otherwise if someone refers a good one that could work too I guess.
  18. Know how you feel, I was busy working on a problem for a client all morning. I should have called in sick, I love the volatile, big news days. The noobs go scattering so easy money.
  19. A lot of it is the realization that China is nothing, just like the Russians in the early 90's. The only thing China really has going for it is billions of people, however under socialism they still don't consume quite like us. Their government just spent the last couple decades trying to "buy" what makes us the worlds great consumers and makes the world turn for us.
  20. I'm expecting things to move down probably through mid fall and maybe through end of year. Jan-Feb is usually the turning point. On the six month chart the dow made a double top with a lower high and that's consistent with the type of things in the news right now. And we got ourselves an election so...
  21. Your strategy will work for sure. I do average down as well but it's usually not intended, it's a result of the price going lower than I expect. If I'm truly long then I take any discount as a time to buy shares. Like I mentioned earlier the days to weeks timeframe didn't work well for me. Months, years, or minutes I do really well.
  22. if you know the company is in a down trend and expect it to go lower why average down? I can understand if its something that could take off any moment so you don't really know, but technicals should be able to give you a rough idea of when the true bottom has been reached. Especially if you know the company pretty well.
  23. That's an excellent example, many companies spin off internal services and become their own customer along with selling services to others.
  24. In a lot of cases spin off is done to either let go of a failing portion of a company without actually closing it down right away and attempting to restructure it to become profitable. Or if in your case that part of the company actually makes good profit perhaps they are simply restructuring to become a parent company situation where they own shares of a highly profitable sub company. As you can see most of it has to do with upper management structure and profit/loss at the most basic. There's also tax stuff and corporate bloat to consider.
