  1. Tractor

    The selfie-arm

They sell them at Frys electronics already.
  2. Sorry, I admire your ability to rise above your situation. I think we're both right;-)
  3. If you think it's an excuse then you don't know how much of a struggle it is. You are right that some rise above it. Some of it is environment and some is personal. Just like five people experiencing the same home life growing up as siblings, some will develop into normal people while some will have issues such as borderline personality disorder. It's an interesting puzzle and its very common.
  4. I agree with your stuff about family life as a big driver in a person's motivation to succeed. We all know how a person can over come it and do well but that's easier said than done when you have mental/emotional under development due to upbringing/environment. I see it in lots of people I know.
  5. That's how I was raised, single income family, my parents act so poor, poor people feel bad for them. Growing up we got made fun of for wearing stuff from yard sales and never had anything actually nice. Mom is the main cause and to this day she can sit in her house for years doing nothing. Growing up sucked but I did learn some things. Wife on the other hand was ghetto trash for our area but had everything she wanted, money was like magic via credit cards and future planning is a foreign concept her family.
  6. This is a lot of the "middle class" problem. There's a lot of money in the middle class, but there's also a very high debt/income ratio due to "GREED". If more people would live in smaller houses, own less expensive cars, learn to be self sustaining with maintenance costs on everything they own. Tell there kids they don't need EVERYTHING. Instead they saved money, put a little effort into managing their money, and stopped being so full of themselves they could restart the american dream. Thats what people do who move ahead in their class, other than a few people who win lotteries. It took me a little while to really understand it, but now I can do more with half the income than I was doing a few years ago and my family still has its toys. Bad news is our society is built to require you to pay X amount to live in good schools and have your kids grow up "middle class".
  7. I pretty much agree with this.
  8. Guys saying "change careers" must have worked in sales. Much easier to do that when you can sell yourself and/or product well. Not a lot and especially not the "top" skill trade guys can do that. Only guys in the trades can understand what I mean. IT isn't really like other trade jobs at this stage since its so new, expanding, etc so lots of room for expansion and pay. I'm likely going to move into other area's of IT since I'm completely topped out in field service. My experience in my direct field is, even though I've topped out "not bragging, proven by a recent test I took for which I earned one of the TOP 10 highest scores from thousands of companies around the planet" I still have literally no where to go except where I'm at and the pay I'm at. Promotion could happen, but the pay will go down due to bonus system metrics. Further promotion might happen if enough 40-75yr olds die between me and the next levels. Sure I could start out on my own. I'd love to do that, did I mention I'm one of the top guys in the world right now? Anyone wanna go in with me because while I might be great at technology I'm a total nerd, possibly aspergers syndrome, and not able to sell myself at all and I understand that. If I had a way to stay alive while myself and another sales type guy hit the pavement and built this thing I'd quit my job tomorrow and start because we'd succeed.
  9. They walk all over the city, just pick a few up and put them in your car. Don't mind the sharp teeth and bad attitude, just give them dog food.
  10. There's a lot of problems with those numbers. A lot of problems with the X x age thing too. That formula works fine for my wife, she's in banking and successful at it, gets promotions, etc. For me, a skilled trade it doesn't work. Early on your making good money for your age, but as you age you make less because promotions don't exist and the pay doesn't increase other than annual raises.
  11. Talk to Buckeye Resume's in Worthington. He built me a pretty nice resume and does coaching, all the other job hunting stuff and is very professional and experienced.
  12. No shit, I couldn't do my job if I couldn't read/write emails, texts, take calls, read technical manuals, search part catalogs or surf the net while in route to clients. Wrote this at 70mph on I77. And didn't take my eyes off the road. Bunch of noobs.
  13. This is the point. Does she respect you? Doubtful since I bet she doesn't respect herself either and from your describing the sex at your wife's house growing up, it doesn't sound like one half of your family learned the respect stuff like you did at your place. Just getting to the deeper part. Might want to look into some of the neurological conditions such as borderline personality disorder. I have a lot of experience with that one.
  14. Their 18, they will fuck, might as well be your place. You could set up one of those live cam sites and profit.
  15. My option after one break in and a couple attempted break ins, was to move from Marengo.
  16. Seems like it works great for higher data users or families.
  17. If you are gonna carry one device I'd get the large phone's such as the note 4. I carry an S5 and a Tab 4 7" around daily. I use my phone for quick easy web access and the tablet for more serious reading, etc when I know I'm gonna have more time than just glancing at forums.
  18. I hope its as good as it sounds, wife and I switched a few months ago. We looked around at all the options and it was the best deal around at the time.
  19. Sounds like your trying to make a single storage space, but with multiple physical drives? I don't see that set up ever so I'm guessing if it can be done its by some third party stuff that most people wouldn't do. I'm guessing this is for some type of media library and I can understand why that would be cool to do. I'm just not sure how it would be done. Especially if your drives have existing data. Some level of RAID would probably do it, but you'd likely have to have that set up before you wrote data to any of the drives.
  20. Laser's are the way to go, very cheap now and any brand is as good as the next for under $100.
  21. My daughter is 6 and uses her Tab 4 very well. We thought about getting her a more kid friendly version, but even our 3 yr old wouldn't use one as they are to fake, LOL.
  22. I use zenfolio for my cloud storage and store for my client photos and also have everything backup up on a server at home.
  23. Yeah that would be a tough environment. How much flash are you able to use and how far are you from the action? If your the event photog, I'd get some speedlites or something on some of the existing poles, etc around the track and some radio poppers. They may think your nuts at first, but once you start nailing some impossible shots your the hero.
  24. I haven't looked at the 5Dmkiii specs, but do own a mkii. The mkii works great for me but sometimes the speed of the 40D continuous shooting mode is nice. I guess what I'm saying is that the 5D has been Canon's goto camera for weddings, portraits, and landscapes, but the other bodies have an advantage in fast moving situations. You might even be better off with a used 1D body if speed is an important feature.
  25. Full frame is awesome if thats what you need to shoot. Otherwise it makes you crop anyway to tighten shots that a crop body would have shot by default. As for low light noise, 90% of that is getting the exposure right and not having to push it in processing. The rest is noise reduction processing.
