  1. I think the second amendment makes universal reciprocity easier than lots of other laws. There doesn't seem to be to many changes state to state regarding the first amendment. Wouldn't that be a mess;-)
  2. Funny we'd be talking about this today and just after I posted a recruiter called me up. He seemed like a much better one than those who usually call. Seemed to know the business and IT and says he can place me and probably has something permanent coming up in a few weeks. He didn't seem to suck like most do and we talked for about an hour about possibilities.
  3. Wife and I have been job hunting since we moved to the Charlotte area. I picked up a quick job for cash while I'm looking. I paid a pro to write my resume, cover letter, etc. Its very worth it though expensive. I'm having two problems finding what I want. First I need a creative way to get noticed, second I have huge experience in IT, but I find it hard to get hiring people to understand that. I've been in field service and want to move into a dept as say a desktop support or sys admin role (IT geek) for a smaller company around 50-300 employees. The desktop support roles want to pay nothing so they assume I am over qualified. I've seen everything IT related in my 17yrs and would be perfect for a sys admin in that size company, but I think I gotta know someone to get me set up.
  4. I'd unplug the motors, and heater and then turn the unit on and see if it trips. If it doesn't, turn off the system, plug in the parts one at a time turning it back on between attempts to see which one blows the breaker. Very simple and hopefully not a circuit board problem. IMHO a circuit board would have to have a serious problem to be the root cause of the breaker tripping.
  5. Blowing a breaker shouldn't be to hard to test. Usually thats an indication of a serious problem ie wire rubbing metal or wired incorrectly or some other means of being shorted. Does the breaker pop instantly or are you turning something on and then it pops? If so the problem could then be a short in a motor or heating element.
  6. I was just checking out the national white water center a couple weeks ago here in charlotte. Love white water kayaking.
  7. Hehe, yeah its great. I've been here a month now and so far only 1 cloudy day and it still didn't rain. Just evening storms which go away in 10minutes. Weather is perfect and I woke up sunday and almost drove to Mrytle Beach, just 3hrs for me, but decided to maybe do it in a couple weeks and make it an overnight trip.
  8. Just finished moving to SC. I had a couple guys help with getting the larger stuff in/out of a 26' Penske truck, but OMG it probably would have been totally worth it to just hire it done and its really not that expensive, but I'm a cheap ass. Out of our house the 26' truck was completely full to the point you couldn't get anything else in it and that was just my wife and kids stuff plus standard furniture and I actually know how to arrange stuff to maximize space. Took me hours of moving stuff around to get it all to fit. My stuff all went into my military truck 8x12 bed and it was mostly full.
  9. I use a Lincoln 140HD I picked up from Home Depot. I'm not that good, but I've been able to weld 16ga sheet metal with it just fine. I don't have the gas equipment for it and running good quality wire helps a lot. I just run a grinder over the whole area when finished to remove debris. No big deal especially after your finished and painted though I've sure there are better way, LOL.
  10. I worked with Columbus Photobooth Co a lot and set up next to them many times at bridal shows. Very cool set up, but it is a true booth.
  11. My favorite team building idea is to let everyone leave at noon on a friday;-)
  12. I listen to BBC and NPR for 95% of my news, occasionally I read news headlines via google if I'm real bored.
  13. I buy most of my astronomy related stuff here http://www.telescope.com/Binoculars/5.uts Best part about that site is they have good prices and do not sell junk, everything they sell will work impressively. They don't typically go super high end either and lots of reading to help you decide. I have a cheaper ($50) 50x10 pair of Orion (house brand) and they work great. Actually for anyone looking for this type of stuff the Orion brand is a great place to start if your wanting a quality telescope without spending a lot or going to cheap and getting something that won't work ie the ones in dept stores.
  14. Perfect packing weather, in a few days I'll be in out of the snow belt permanently and 80% of my days will be just like this weekend. Sorry I just had too.
  15. I'm a cat person, used to have a real mean one that tormented the neighbors dogs. He was a good kitty, all banged up and pieces of his ears missing from fights and he knew he was the boss.
  16. I know what your saying, its hard to except being wrong and even harder to except it along with losing money and much easier to believe in a conspiracy. I think a lot of the theories are probably incorrectly blamed by people taking the less painful road because they hear of times when they do actually happen which validates their loss. Knowing the difference is key and being honest with yourself. Its neat how much of trading is actually managing your head, managing the money is the easy part.
  17. If your current lenses are working fine, you have a pretty good range. I have an old 70-300 that I never used, probably used it a couple times and never again. It was so slow to focus and very basic. I use 70-200L 2.8 as a walk around lens on my 5D. Even at a wedding I can shoot 90% of the photos with it. Though it probably makes a better "people" lens than car lens when your in tight.
  18. You should probably pick up a 50mm F/1.8 just because they are between $50-100. Though you should note that 50mm on a crop body seems pretty long due to the crop. You can set your 17-55 at 50mm and walk around with it to see what I mean. On a full frame I love the 50, its makes an excellent general purpose lens. For my 40D I picked up a 16-35 L II. It makes a great general purpose lens for that body and still gets pretty wide. On the full frame the 16mm end gets everything in view.
  19. I know what you mean and have read it a million times on forums. I feel thats something every man's gonna have to decide for himself when he's in that position.
  20. I see a couple very small operations. I'll check around, thanks for the link. It would be nice to find a place similar to blackwing nearby. Not saying your small, you got credentials and if you were doing it when I was getting CCW here I'd have be all over you(er it). Right now I see some guy that includes "fat" in his nickname as one of only two or three options and he looks like the most legit one.
  21. I know we got a few on here that live near Charlotte. I'll be living in Fort Mill, SC by June, wife and I will be getting CCW License there. Anyone have any recommendations? IE I'd prefer an excellent course vs good price.
  22. No kidding, when you get really involved and follow a given company's news, stock prices, etc its amazing to see how prices react. A certain amount of manipulation occurs in any market and a lot of the time it happens to "Shake the tree" hoping investors with low loss tolerance will fall out. Over the years I've learn to tell the difference pretty well and the key is planning your trade and staying in as long as your reason for getting in is still valid. So many investors can't keep emotions in check and don't follow that simple rule.
  23. Yeah, carry anytime you can and protect yourself. On friday 5-2 we had a scary moment at our house out in the sticks. We got to bed early to rest up before heading to the beach early the next morning, but at about 23:15 our security alarm goes off screaming. Our girls happened to be sleeping in our room and stay completely out during the whole thing. Alarm company calls within a few seconds so my wife talks to them while I am out of bed kneeling, using a large dresser for cover as I cover the door with my .45 and throw my wife an AR15. We turned off the alarm sound from our room so I can hear if anyones actually there and wife checked the window to see if any cars are outside. Once some time passed I moved to our stair area where I have a good position and continue waiting and moving, to check the house. I know thats not the best idea, but police are 20minutes in a perfect situation from coming over and I do drills at my house constantly and have thought it through as good as its gonna get for a non pro. It ended up being a non event, a sensor faulted (first time its happend in 3 years). I was very happy with how things went, but am for sure going to have to get my wife more practice for these situations. The girls are very young, but they will get instructions in the next few years as well. Be safe guys.
  24. The inline six is a great engine but lots of morons don't realize the cooling system needs repair so they drive around at 210 degrees forever and kill the engine. I don't personally like any Chrysler v8 but that's just an opinion.
  25. That's my main reason for having a scottrade account. I can get stuff done fast and yell at a real person if I need to.
