  1. Here's some from the Outer Banks, NC this past summer. I like combining my photography skills with my astrophotography skills when I get the time. Though these didn't really need the heavy editing that astrophotography usually demands since I was still using natural and fairly abundant light sources. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/IMG_4540_zps3e5dd37f.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/IMG_4214_zps04d37eff.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/IMG_4492_zps75cc1992.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/IMG_4483_zps2150fb3f.jpg
  2. I figured I'd show a few night time photos I've taken over the past summer/fall. First one is my truck in october under very clear dark skies and the light of the full moon high and behind me. Exposure's that night were around 10 seconds and the wind was blowing at least 20mph so getting steady shots was a bit fun. I'll post some other things in a bit. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/M35A2withM105atnight_zps4c5d9c73.jpg
  3. Yeah I feel ya, my companies 401k has done 11% YTD. I don't use the 401k, I do my own investing and am planning to shift my job to full time day trading in a couple of years and semi retire. I say semi because day trading is still huge work but to me it's enjoyable work.
  4. If anyone's interested NAVB is a dublin based pharmaceutical company that someone on here pointed out to me. I added it to my watch lists and its made a bottom and has made me a good margin so far and looks good for continued growth for at least the short term. Here's a link to some technicals on it http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=NAVB+Interactive#symbol=navb;range=6m;compare=;indicator=sma%2818%29+bollinger+volume+macd+stochasticslow;charttype=candlestick;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=off;source=undefined; I don't typically swing trade or hold anything overnight unless I have a very good indication of direction and in this case I do. Trade at your own risk
  5. If you didn't make around 40-50% in the past 6 months you should probably give up and go to a casino. LOL We've seen a very strong bull market for quite a while so much so that many are starting to consider lots of stocks overbought at the moment. Of course there is no way to tell for sure and a lot depends on .gov policies, world events, etc. Its just in my book if you have anything to protect I'd be thinking of moving it to safer positions.
  6. Excellent move, correction seems to be occurring or at least trend weakening.
  7. To bad that by the time we got enough that I'd be required to drive my military truck to work we'd be far into a level 3 lol. Wish I wasn't having company christmas party tomorrow night, I'd bring the 6x6 out for doughnuts.
  8. lol I thought the same thing until I saw it was in the guns section.
  9. Oh and another point that I always thought was a little off, she's almost never cried, not even when her mother died.
  10. I have never been diagnosed but I certainly have a bit of Asberger syndrome, autism spectrum disorder is the new label. Was much more pronounced years ago but now I'm pretty good at dealing with it. I agree, sounded like female problems to me for years but it's gotten worse.
  11. I've never known her to do any of the self harming stuff that suffers tend to do, she might have more than normal, extreme sensitivity to criticism and also idealizes her "world" and then finds fault with everyone else, but herself about why she can't be happy and can't have relationships very easily and pushes everyone away due to wanting them to agree with her and be on her side against the ones she is going off on at the moment.
  12. She has always known she has a lot of problems with her self image and other things, since both her parents were messed up they let a very controlling, man hating aunt take care of her a lot when she was a baby which turned into a life long problem of her controlling her and putting her down as a method of her control. The aunt also lives with a female "friend", but no ones quite sure if she doesn't just control her too or if they are lesbians. Lol its all so messed up.
  13. Make sure you got the barrel you want on it as well, the wrong and too short barrel and you won't have the pattern and range you need to hit the longer shots. I got an 18" barrel 870HD and it spreads so much you can only hit to about 15 yards really effectively. beyond that and you get a single BB hole in an unbroken clay lol.
  14. I figured I'd consult CR's e-therapists about some drama in my life. I won't go into the whole long history in detail, I'll just say that my wife's family is wrought with mental illness, mostly undiagnosed, and untreated, several where diagnosed, and several suicides have occurred including her own mother. Her child hood was a breeding ground for disorders and I believe that she suffers from borderline personality disorder or something similar. We've been married for +12 years and things have always been a bit off and not what I expected at all. From my research I've found that is a very common saying among spouses. Just recently after an episode I got back into researching and finally found a disorder that fits as almost a textbook case. Anyone else deal with this illness personally? I would love a recommendation of somewhere she could get real help. Anyone who knows about this condition knows that their reality is very distorted and you have almost no hope of reasoning with them when they are on a rampage and very little when they aren't and that they try to drag you into their reality constantly to justify their position so its very maddening for loved ones. I don't plan on leaving her anytime soon, but realize that is always an option. I love her and would rather stand by her and work through it. I got time lol. Not many of you have met her on here, she has come to meets in the distant past though.
  15. Cool part of my job, I get inside lots of places like that and much more.
  16. We bought an "Insignia" from walmart last year and its worked great. Far superior to the tiny, rear facing speakers in our TV. I think it was about $50.
  17. Mid West photo sells sub $100 manual flash units that will get the job done, but you'll need to learn a bit about lighting and especially off camera lighting. Also about light modifiers such as the mentioned diffuser. I use at least 4-6 flashes at any wedding and several for engagement stuff and learned a lot from the book "understand exposure" and from reading the "strobist site."
  18. With Canon good lens are the L series, anything else is very hit or miss on quality and you can easily have intermittent problems with focusing, ie sometimes will focus a few feet in front or behind target. In recent years Canon has been updating the L series so you can get older L's for good used prices. I check places like adorama.com to get them since they are a huge store in NYC. The image quality will still be amazing compared to a brand new consumer grade lens.
  19. I can't wait for all the turkey sammiches I'll be eating for a week.
  20. Tractor

    Jeep LOL

Not really surprised, 2,000 lb jeep would be a pretty fast starter. I actually like the looks of the grand cherokee over the current design, and I especially like the fact that now I could put star trek decals all over it and it would blend in with the direction they took with starship design lolol.
  21. I agree, 99.9% of the people aren't going to get any more out of the class other than the right to conceal a gun and no further training will ever be sought, required or felt necessary.
  22. Sounds like its in my range of daily driving so I'll keep an eye out.
  23. I'm with straight talk and it's as good as my Verizon was and using the same network. I don't use it a lot though. $45/mo unlimited everything.
  24. I built my own welder for about $100 bucks and learned myself. I have since gotten a MIG and can do a decent job of sticking pieces of metal together though I'm sure I'm far from a "good" professional. I probably had about 40hrs with my home made stick welder before I was burning sticks pretty well. The MIG is stupid easy by comparison and I can actually do thin "to me" stuff.
