  1. Yeah just built my mom a an I5 2500K system. total was like $600 and that was with a 20" monitor because all she had was an old HP 17" CRT at home.
  2. Oh, I also forgot to mention that the acting was worse than a lot of those 80's guy movies they used to play on "USA Up all Night." The only thing to save it was probably the fact that the carnage was pretty gross, but I don't need any more gore than a WWII era war film to enjoy a good battle scene.
  3. I've been meaning to clean out my basement to finish it and I have enough electronic components to build an army of robots (with lasers.) In 30yrs of an electronics hobby I've collected a lot of motors, sensors, lasers, boxes of circuit boards and power supplies, etc... If they would be interested in it I'll donate most if not all of it to them. I also have lots of complete monitors, printers, and a few copy machines. Most of the motors are steppers with their control boards so they are easily made functional.
  4. From the first time I saw it to the replys on encore I've always felt it was a movie for gays.
  5. I like the black and white in the one Trish did do to the increased contrast. What I'd probably do is a graduated filter coming down from the top through the people and trying to avoid the grass, It ends up a little over done in this shot.
  6. I saw that I could open them through my broker (scottrade), but haven't looked at them any more in years. My wife and I are getting to a point were we need to start putting money in more investment type accounts to reduce taxable income and have been going to look into reorganizing my business and maybe setting up some accounts through it as well.
  7. This is what I had thought self directed meant. How is the tax handled? Up front or at withdrawal or both?
  8. Don't have one, but am planning to have one in the future.
  9. Just bought a safe at vances today. Waited in line less than five minutes. And the place was packed. You couldn't get to the gun cases at all to look.
  10. Anyone notice the Union Station photos that the Arch is the same design as our Arch downtown from Columbus's old Union Station. Thought it was cool.
  11. I like a real photographers work much better than what the magazines end up doing to models. Usually to plastic for my tastes.
  12. For shooting decent photos in a snowy landscape, set your cameras (exposure compensation) to +2/3 or +1. It will brighten up the exposure to make sure the whites turn out white. Keeping batteries warm and charged in your described environment is a serious challenge. The only cold outdoor and away from power sources thing I do is an annual hocking hills hike. There I keep my battery in my t-shirt pocket which is the closest layer to my body and only take it out when I get to a destination to begin shooting. For winter astrophotography I have my cameras running on AC power. Is it possible for you to make an external power pack that you can put next to your body? Otherwise with batteries you can't really do much if you can't keep them warm.
  13. Sounds like my wife. She's never managed to figure out how to drive a manual.
  14. I can't remember the name of the group, but they are exactly what your looking for and they meet at a coffee shop in clintoville weekly.
  15. Second lession in that story is, don't go to a job interview in noble county there isn't one and you'll be killed.
  16. I always liked the old mres we had in boy scouts. We took them everywhere.
  17. They used to call bud "old faithful" before they got purchased by that european company. Hopefully they fall into a nice pattern again. Scotts (SMG) is a good six to twelve month hold right now for anyone not wanting huge risk. They should are a seasonal stock and are down right now. So should make a nice ten to twenty percent gain in late spring or summer.
  18. This. Even though I don't really care one way or the other about a dog and especially one thats charging me, I still wouldn't shoot until I at least tried to give it a good beating. Shootings going cause to many annoying questions. I'm pretty sure though that you don't really have any "duty to retreat" such as with a shooting a person since in the case of a dog you really don't have anywhere to run or time to think about it.
  19. Tractor

    China...

The round one looks like a solar array, but thats no fun so yeah aliens.
  20. Looks like a Rebel of 6-7 years ago. Those tiny phone cameras are catching up fast.
  21. At least your thinking of buying a house at the best time to buy a house in a long time if your in the situation to do it. I would build, I bet the builders would almost give you a house right now, but thats just me. I guess there are probably plenty of houses to pick from though. +1 grange, best insurance around. I've been with them +10yrs in car, home, business. Oh and don't just call grange, actually get an agent to work for you. My family has been with the same agent for probably 40yrs. They get stuff done if the 800 number is being annoying.
  22. My thoughts on over education. "Have's" should get it if they want it because they can. "Have Nots" will just have to deal without it or earn it. Its sort of the way things work and why the world turns. We can't realistically educate all 7 billion people of the earth and then expect anyone to do jobs that are "beneath" them. You can't simply give a degree to a person and then tell them to pick lettuce and pay them 75K/yr. I have a lot of friends in lots of European countries and this is exactly what's happened there. Everyone can pretty much get a degree if they want one, they get it and then can't find work because everyone is qualified on paper, so experience becomes important, and more graduate each year adding to the mess.
