I don't know much about my site except that the only "other window" I get is when I click on client galleries which is an external link to zenfolio for proof viewing and print sales.

So my website sucks bad, I tried the template route, but I still feel I know absolutely nothing about website design and need help. I was going to simply upgrade my template to something that looks nicer, but I still think paying someone who knows what they are doing would be much smarter since it is a business website. What I need: 1) Function and form to rival any other $2000-3000 wedding photographers site in the region 2) Ability to change out the photos myself Who would I talk to? Anyone on here a professional web designer? I wanna spend money and get results.

This sorta thing really ticks me off. Your "friend" wants to be Mr wedding photographer, but can't make and stick to a simple commitment. I'd help you out if its just something pretty simple. I won't be doing anything Friday except preparing for a huge wedding on Saturday. evan@photographybyevan.com if you wanna talk about it. If I can't do it I might have a few names who could as well.

I use a chroma key paper background for things like that, but mostly it just sits in a corner since I don't really do portrait type work outside of a wedding. That shot of Victoria looks like it was down with an umbrella/softbox to the high right plus a reflector panel on the low left. Just a quick and dirty butterfly set up.

Not sure if its t rue for all situations but I've noticed my (dad especially) get more anal as he ages. To me it simply explained old people. It would be cool if there was some study on it. You know how old people get about kids in their yard etc, yet you know they did it when they were kids and got yelled at by an old fart too. I hope to not care, because at this stage in my life the neighbors kids in my yard is just cool.

I don't know of any way to store a flash on a camera in a bag. The 270 might provide that ability since its pretty low profile, but I still wouldn't due to the foot being made weak on flashes and the body is still plastic so something will break eventually. I use UV filters in non paid situations just to keep from having to clean the more expensive and coated optics of my lenses all the time. I prefer to wipe the UV filter with my t-shirt if I have to remove a smudge. They do however take a small amount of contrast away from the images, but I use cheap UV filters. they also can cause unwanted and sometimes wanted lens flare effects. As for diffusers I have a stofen that I like to use, but lately have just been using an index card and rubber band (no kidding). Not only do I look like a boss, I can also roll it around under the rubber band to change the direction of the light, or even use it as a flag to control how much light hits a closer target. Found it especially useful at my latest wedding. My ultimate light modifier is my assistant holding a 4ft monopod adapted to carry a 43" umbrella and 2 speedlights. I can put her where I need her and I could make every photo at the wedding look like it was staged and shot in a studio. I also usually have a couple speedlights in the corners of reception venues firing through umbrellas or bare flash (for the hollywood lighting effect.) Makes for some cool dance photos. Also a really good resource for learning about flash and what you can do with very little money is http://www.strobist.com He has some great stuff in the archives and you can pick up books and DVD's are Mid West Photo as well as a lot of "strobist" items.

If you want to learn how to use a flash and price is a concern buy a Lumopro manual speed light from Mid West Photo down in Clintonville. There about half the cost of the 430exII and are just as powerful. Downside is they are manual only so you'll have to learn how to use it for the given situation. Or... Get the 430exII its automatic function will work great for about any photographic situation and in the hands of a capable photographer can light the inside of a cathedral. I have two of these, two lumopros, and some vivtars that I use for wedding work and they are more than enough for both on camera and off camera work. I typically don't run them at more than 1/8 to 1/4 power either. I lit this photo with a 430ex on my camera + one vivitar 285hv on a stand to my right. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/EWhytsell/Wedding%20ad%20photos/Photo-4.jpg

If its similar enough to the S2-IS then you can buy an adapter ring that goes over and around the lens assembly. This will give you threads that you can use to attach a circular polarizer, wide angle or telephoto lens, and other things. Also there may be a firmware hack that will allow you to put the camera into RAW file mode and also give you some more video features. I used to use a similar hack on my S2 before I got into DSLRs. Ha, now we gotta remember to rip one for the troops.

If its dark like stars or very dark city/landscape or something turn on live view and get a star/light source in focus manually, then zoom in to 10x (on a canon live view) and fine tune the focus manually. If its people have someone light up their cell phone to get focus distance. If the distance is < infinity and you have a quality lens you can use the distance scale and also work out your depth of field with your F number and get the subject in focus.

Nothing beats the country, acreage, cars, trucks, random junk, and firing off guns anytime I damn well please. Oh and pissing off my porch because I don't have to use one of my 3 bathrooms if I don't want to.

Might pick up an M35A2 duece and a half in the next few weeks/months. Checking options in case I find one with a blown engine or something for cheap. I'd let you do it Chris, because I know the cummins can pull it. Just hate for you to blow anything up or get busted over weight. The truck alone is almost twice the GTWR. The preferable set up would be something like a medium dump truck with a 7-ton pintle hitch trailer. Blah why didn't I beg my wife harder for this Chevy C40 truck and 10ton trailer I could have picked up awhile back.

Anyone here know where to go to have a large truck hauled from columbus to my place about half an hour north? I move cars and light trucks all the time, but this ones gonna be <>14,000lbs so will require a heavy equipment trailer and truck to move it. I suppose I might pay someone with an excavating company to do it.

I keep meaning to buy one, but I have a hard time justifying buying one since my full time job is calibrating high end color reproduction equipment anyway and I can do it by eye after <> 15yrs of experience.

Garbage pail kids rocked. Probably where I got my sick humor though. Oh and yeah they still have book fairs.

I loved fighting (to old and soft now, crap like that hurts). My brother and I fought from the time we could both stand. That wouldn't be a real fight to most people, but you'd have to know us. We broke bones a lot and I drew first blood by breaking his collar bone at around 5-6yrs old. First outside the house fights weren't until I was much older. By then I'd been into martial arts for a lot of years and wasn't ever in a fight outside of class that lasted more than a move or two due to the other guys lack of experience. I didn't hurt them to bad just a throw or arm bar or something until they calmed down and realized they picked on the wrong guy.

which is why I rarely mention it.

Look good from here, I'm sure they love them. Newborns are tricky, but I think you nailed it.

Same here, looking for a bottom for some quick bucks.

Wow, I'm not one to mess with people for bad grammer, but it took a few reads to get your point. Good point though, and a problem with CC. if you don't carry all the time the you don't carry enough. I know my luck and if I carried each time I decided not to I'd get robbed or something.
-
Well if you want to match your printer and monitors you gotta get a model that can do both. Spyder's are good and so are the Pantone models.

long term stuff is down for me. Thats fine it happens and will be back. I got piles of cash waiting for the bottom though so all is good:-)

Oh and depending on the air rifle (yes even pump models) I have killed birds, squirrels, and rabbits with one so they could work, but I wouldn't use it on a skunk. It would probably go all monty python killer rabbit on you as its dying act.

There slow because they know no animal wants to mess with their backside. Hal could just drop them off near my house. I have a pet skunk out here. We look at the stars together and he hasn't sprayed me yet, though he did try one night when I accidentally startled him.
