One more...Why is it that people in huge tall SUVs that can see right over my relatively low slung car feel the need to pull up past me when I'm making a right turn? They have to wait for traffic from the right to clear, which means they'll be sitting for awhile, and because they completely block my view of traffic to the left, I'm stuck waiting for them to turn so I can see whether I'm clear?

It wasn't the first posts that put me off.

I've got one each from either side of that equation for you: Why do so many cops slow down to 5-10 MPH under the limit, even though they know that people reluctant to pass them are going to back up behind them and create a rolling bottleneck? And why do drivers slam on their breaks as soon as they see red and blue lights parked on the side of the road with another car? They're ALREADY writing someone a ticket, and they're not going to stop halfway through a ticket to chase you for the same damn thing! Thank you Jeebus, a cop with sense! Please, go smack the dumbass who keeps assigning officers to targeted speed enforcement on Morse and 161 east of 71. I used to deliver pizza up there, and far from a speeding problem, it seemed like nobody ever went higher than 5 under, yet I watched 50-60 cars a day just completely blow off red lights. And I'm not talking late yellows. I mean sailing right through a light that's been red for a good three to five seconds.

Well, looking at the discussion going on in thetop two threads right now, "Why I'm voting Democratic" and "Reasons I vote how I vote", I am forced to conclude that we have exhausted all meaningful discussion, and the descent into terminal childishness has begun. I'm gonna go take a shower, then go down to Vets and vote. I won't bother coming back in here til election day. Anyone want to join me in casting their vote early and withdrawing from the stupidity?

Watch em all the way through folks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsUROK_Z2Q0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhZEJiu03MU The continuing cries of terrorist associations and the racist remarks speakers at McCain rallies that McCain is continually having to apologize for(Are you gonna tell me the McCain campaign doesn't vet speeches and speakers at rallies? Bullshit.) have done exactly what Obama said, played on the fears of people that have already had "Obama is a muslim" drummed into their heads by Republican talk show hosts, pundits, and bloggers.

WTF? Do these guys just breeze in, post shit intros, then go to bed? FAIL.

Yep. And in a lot of districts, teachers are still having to come out of pocket to buy textbooks and other supplies. See if you can get figures on how much of that money goes towards operating expenses like electric, water, gas, maintenance, sanitation, subsidized school lunches, security, etc...

The only thing in here that is even approaching right is that NCLB was a massive boondoggle, and that neither candidate has the right idea. The problem is that kids now spend over half the year doing ONE thing. Studying for the fucking tests that are supposed to be a measure of how well they learn. So the only thing they learn is how to take tests. Reduce testing. Eliminate testing-specific curriculum. Get back to teaching kids what they need to know to either succeed in a career, or move on to college. We've been lamenting that we're falling behind other countries because our kids aren't as well educated. Yet, studies on ADULTS show higher learning abilities in Americans than in Japan and other rote-learning school cultures. That's because the educational system we USED to have helped kids develop the SKILL of learning. American adults are able to learn new skills faster and become more adept with skills learned after childhood, and thus are more able to make changes between careers, or take on careers that cover multiple fields. We're losing that by trying to imitate rote-learning cultures through excessive testing, rigid standards, and elimination of elective courses.

Actually, the only time I ever hear anything about race at all is when Republicans accuse Democrats of accusing Republicans of being racist. "Oh, they're implying we're racist! See, they want you to think we're racist! I've never been a racist, I've never had a racist thought! I've never known a racist! Some of my best friends are black!" When it comes to supporters, the only time I hear anything, is when Republicans accuse Obama and his supporters of being racist.

I'm voting Democrat because current gun control measures are satisfactory, and I don't see anything changing. I'm voting Democrat because I don't give a shit if you marry your fucking horse. None of my business.(Not advocating bestiality, get your head out of your ass) I'm voting Democrat because "Drill, drill, drill" is great, but missing the point in the long term. I'm voting Democrat because they'll do a way better job of managing spending than the Republicans. I'm voting for Obama because I believe libel laws should be applied to campaigns. I'm voting Democrat because I'd rather not have our troops in an open-ended occupation. I'm voting Democrat because almost everything that has been proposed to fight global warming will also help us break dependence on fossil fuels. I'm voting Democrat because victims of rape and incest shouldn't be further victimized by being forced to bear an unwanted child. As for the death penalty, http://deathpenaltyusa.blogspot.com/2007/02/barack-obama-and-death-penalty.html I'm voting Democrat because if you want to reduce the tax burden, you have to reduce spending. Ah, like teaching creationism and intelligent design in schools? Like a Constitutional Amendment to define marriage?

And besides which, as long as insurers can turn you down for procedures and medication for pre-existing conditions, it doesn't do shit to help me. Type II diabetes, guess how much help spending a few thousand a year on insurance is gonna get me?
-
Ah, in that case: Go fuck a sharps container at a highway rest stop.
-
Ah, Then we probably got more than a few of those. We got a lot of Canadian stuff in at the auction, including a shit-ton of Chrysler Intrepids.
-
Yet another reason I don't like nitrous...I feel bad for the guy. Insurance won't cover a penny of that.
-
Your boner, my Oster, puree.
-
Not quite sure what you mean?
-
Young'n, there's reason we do it. It helps, and bottling it up does nothing but mess you up in the log run. Stuffing it down when you smash your finger with a hammer is one thing, but holding down that kind of grief can kill you.

That answers my question nicely. Looks a little odd without the tips back there, but not as weird as I thought it would. Kinda needs something to fill the gap, though.
-
Whoops, yes, you are correct. Was also the GLE, not GLX. (Where the hell did GLX get wedged into my head at?)Still a quick car. Still won't buy one, now.

I'm somewhat familiar with the methods of polling, but the margins of error and number of undecideds are ridiculous, so I don't bother with them. Scotty, the news polls are done by phone with random samples, by polling agencies. They'll use a random-numbers generator to select phone numbers from their chosen region. I don't know how they determine the number of people they call or their criteria for how they word the questions asked to be totally neutral. If it's an opinion poll, you can pretty much figure that the question is skewed one way or another, so opinion polls truly ARE worthless.

Question, do you still have the tips on the back, AND the side exit? Or, if you got rid of the rear exit, did you do anything about the exhaust cut-outs in the bumper? Aside from that, nice car.

I like the salt wheels. Looks like it'll be a fucking nut to drive if it ever gets finished. Welcome, but from now on, host your pics on Photobucket, or I'll nail your head to a bus.

Fuck yes, beautiful car. The thing about BMW pre-Bangle was the elegant simplicity of the design. Nothing extraneous, nothing flashy, just clean, simple lines, and in the case of the Ms, bugger-all fast.

Never seen a white one... Have seen a few of the black ones, and scads of red ones, and one yellow one that I will swear blind WAS either factory color, or a full frame-off paint job. Anyway, nice lookin truck, ggod luck with your plans, pos rep for a good intro.
