I have a 97 gmc highrider (zr2 package) with the 4.3 in it and tow my camper which weighs 3k pounds. I wouldn't want to tow anything heavier than that...it doesn't really even tow that very well. The truck is just to light and the brakes leave something to be desired so unless you have a trailer with brakes I wouldn't even consider something that heavy. The intake gaskets on just about all those 4.3's leak at some point. Not a bad job to do really, just time consuming. The spider unit's leak on a fair amount of them. GM fuel pump...nuf said. I would pass on it. I have 120k on mine and it serves it's purpose. Not a bad truck....just has it's little quirks.

yep, I was just horsing around. I think it'd be cool if they would bring back some of those animals....at least the ones they had access too. Seems like a bunch of years ago they found a mammoth frozen that had been very well preserved. I watch all the dino shows on discovery and it always bothers me that they put color markings on them and picture them a certain way but it's just a guess. They could look nothing like that. Be cool to see what one really looked like.

they're very easy to count too....just wait until it gets dark and count the glowing spots.

The last natural Pyrenean Ibex, a female named Celia, was found dead on January 6, 2000, apparently killed by a falling tree. Although her cause of death is known, the reason for the extinction of the subspecies as a whole is a mystery. That's my favorite part of that wiki page. I'm no college professor and most likely will never get nominated for a nobel peace prize or anything like that but even I know the reason for their extinction.....they were fucking stupid.

I still think it's a pretty incredible thing that he was able to lay that thing down in the water and everyone survived. Those people on that plane owe him big time.

I have sirius and noticed this year they were farming out some of the college football games to xm. Think they'll do that with the nfl? Really the only reason I have it is so I can listen to Saints games in the fall. They farm one of those to xm and I'll drop them like a bad habit. My radio goes weeks or longer without even being turned on sometimes. I really need to cancel it during the summer and just pick it up every fall for football season. There are times during the summer we go on trips though and it comes in pretty handy.

I see what you're saying. Kind of a dumbass law though to hold a dealership responsible. Last time I checked I was responsible for my kids well being. It would be like holding a car dealership responsible for a car crash. Guess that's just where the country is heading. Some shit head parent let their kid get hurt and looked to blame someone else because there's no way it was their fault. If I go through a dealership I'll wait until June when he's of age so there won't be any hassles. He will be geared up from head to toe.

well, hoax or not it was a pretty good read. Her story is fact base though I think....even if she didn't go for a ride through the area. I'd have to try and find that nat geo article. There were some similarities in the pictures. Nat geo's had several of that school. Here, I found the link at their site although this isn't the complete story. Only a tiny bit of it. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/04/photogalleries/chernobyl/

what's in question? Her story was on par with the nat geo story. The nat geo put a few more people trying to live in the area than she did but who knows when either story was written.

that's what I didn't understand though...... maybe it's for me and I just have him along for the ride. Know what I'm saying? It's not in his name so why should they care or be held liable?

first time I've ever seen that. Very good read. I read an article in national geographic a few years ago on pripyat and it wasn't as good as hers.....their pictures were higher quality though.

the plan is for me to get one at some point. That'll be a seperate "what should I buy" thread. Look for it late this summer or next spring. I've wanted one pretty much my entire life but just never got around to it. Seems like when ever toy money comes available something else like a car ends up with it. Since my son is getting to that age where me and him can enjoy the same toys I'll hopefully start getting some of the stuff that's been on the back burner. My buddy was just over this weekend and has a polaris 700 he said he'd sell me for $2k but it needs a CV joint I guess. I'm not even sure how serious he was about it. I've seen it and it's a good looking quad but I want a sport quad and not a work quad.
-
how much do you want for it? Honestly though I'd rather buy him something new since he'll be riding it a few years. I don't want to have to spend a lot of time working on something to keep it running and he'll most likely be pretty hard on one. Is yours in good shape? PM me a price.
-
I appreciate all the info guys. He'll be 6 in June and will most likely be riding it here on our property until then anyhow. I'm not going to run out and buy one tomorrow but I would like to be informed before I do buy something for him. Thanks for the help.

I'm looking to get my son a mini atv. He'll be 6 in June. I keep seeing where everyone says it's not legal for him to ride one until he's 6. Is that just on public land or is that private land also? I also see where they recommend a 50cc quad for him but IMO that's to small. He's been riding an electric quad since he was 2. Granted, I know that's not the same but pretty much all the quad's I've looked at can be limited down to 5mph. I was thinking about getting him a 90 or 110....too much for him? I'm pretty confident in his ability to ride them and his level of maturity but at the same time I don't really know shit about it as far as what size to get him. I'm just going by what I feel he can do. Lastly, do any of you guys have experience with the chinese ebay atv's? Are the name brand quads really worth that much more? I can get the ebay 110cc quad's for less than a grand and we went and looked at a suzuki 50 yesterday that was ~$500 more than that. Is it $500 better for half the engine? I just can't help but think that if he can get a few years out of one he'll be moving up to something bigger anyhow so why not get a cheap one to start on. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

that only leaves Rossington as the last original member......hate to see them all go. Great band with a ton of great music.

I've determined that psychic work at Kroger late at night......how else would they know which isle I need to go to and block it off before I get there and start mopping it?

you guys forget that Al Gore was trained as a politician which brings with it the ability to ignore the facts. They've pulled ice core samples from antartica that show the fluctuations in the global temps.......ice core samples don't sell as many books though as Al Gore.

when I first moved to columbus 15 years ago or so I lived about a block from there before I knew any better. Big ass burgers and their subs are massive too. There was a long ass wait even back then. ps Don't ever live a block from there or your car will get broken into on a monthly basis.

sorry to hear about your dad...he will be there when you graduate. I lost my dad and then my mom a year later. You always want to talk to them one more time. Takes a long time to heal....not sure if you ever do completely. At least I haven't.

see if some gas stations will let you put up a "found" post on the door. Expensive dog and someone is definitely looking for it. Probably not far from you at all.
-
good stuff..... I was surprised it's only $200. I figured it would be quite a bit more than that. I might have to get it.....beats the hell out of tab.
