I think that probably has more to do with the weed than the game. I tend to think kids generally mean well but they're constantly maturing and learning. You just have to give them some guidance here and there. It's not the end of the world if buck doesn't take the xbox from him and it's not like he'll graduate to robbing liquor stores and killing hookers. Buck is just looking for a way to limit his son while still being able to enjoy it himself. Nothing wrong with that. Just might not be able to have it both ways and need to come up with an alternate plan. You guys without kids will learn all this one day.....having kids can be a pain in the ass at times but there are far more good things than bad about having kids.

that was why I asked if you could lock it up. Then you would have the key and could get it out when you wanted. I never said you should smash it..... I said that's the type of thing I would do. Smashing it isn't right either but I could see me doing that if my boy screws up bad enough. It's stuff like this that makes me not want to get my son into video games at all really.

Retard??? How was that called for? I'm not the one having trouble taking away an xbox because I want to play it too. I sure would hate for his discipline to get in the way of your fun...... good luck with that.
-
Can't you just put the player itself up? Lock it in a box somewhere. Sometimes being a parent sucks but most of the time the part that sucks is in the kids best interest. He knew the agreement and didn't follow through so you shouldn't feel guilty about holding up your end of the agreement. Just put it away and only give it to him when you want him to play it. I dread those days ( my oldest is only 6) but I know they're coming. I tend to try to make a lasting impression with punishments which is probably being way to hard on him but I'm hoping if I win enough of these battles early then later he won't be too shocked when I take his xbox 360 and put a hammer to it right in front of him.

funny you should post this up. My son will be 6 at the end of june and this is the only thing he's asked for. A DS with pokemon. I'm sure we'll get it for him but I have to say I'm very leary about starting him on video games. I'll regulate it heavily for a while. I don't want him to become a veggie that sits around playing video games all the time. I know not everyone does that but some do.

seriously, can anyone here say they'd put up with her ass? I'd have been gone a long time ago. I hate that show. I call it jon and bitch plus 8. My wife dvr's it and I leave the room when she watches it. Every episode is the same. The bitch complains about how much work she has to do while someone else is doing the work and bosses jon around like he's her bitch. Maybe there will be a last episode where jon puts a 9 iron upside her head.......I'd probably watch that one.

yeah, he don't mess around. That's what living in the country gets you....there's plenty of trees out here.

I gave it back to him....he was excited to say the least. He moped around here all day and this evening he went out and put all the toys away without being told. I figure he'll stumble across these videos someday...probably the day he's trying to decide whether or not to pull the plug on me. I'll make that decision easy. I recorded these on our regular digital camera..that's why the quality sucks but you get the idea. He would've known something was up if I took the camcorder out there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JJTYYBJDA0

yeah....I'm a dick. The lesson has to be learned. He has a bad habit of not putting stuff away and me or my wife have to go behind him and put his toys up or constantly keep reminding him. Hopefully this will convince him why they have to be put away and locked up at night. I'll get video of the "discovery" too when I decide to give it back to him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZt82I0VbHk

well, tomorrow is lesson time. I have to tell him every evening to put it away before we go inside. Tonight I didn't tell him and he left it and his bike in the back yard. I hid them in the woods. I'll give them back to him in a day or two but I want to teach him a lesson and show him why I have him put them up every night. Karma being what it is I'll probably go out tomorrow and my car will be gone.

I know advanced sells straight pieces different lengths and sizes. I did the line on my truck last year and bent those.

found the fee.... $4.50 but not sure on what documentation I'd have to take for a reprint.
-
this is actually about my boat but I would think the process is the same for a boat or car. I can't find my damn boat registration. Anyone know documentation do I need to get a replacement printed and how much it costs? I'm going to do a search for the bmv site as it's probably on there but if someone has been through this it might save me some time. I appreciate it.

my boy started asking for a nintendo ds recently because the kids at school have them. I'm really hesitant to get it for him but what can you do? I still remember what it was like to want what the other kids were into. He has a b-day next month and we'll most likely get it for him then. I'm going to really limit how much he plays it though. It's a tough deal. I would imagine at some point it'll click with your boy and he'll be all over that bike. I'm like you.... I never had that stuff growing up. We had a mini-bike when I was real young but never had anything once I was old enough to ride. I've passed by that track out there a few times. At some point I'll have a shifter kart out on that thing. that's a cool picture. It's fun watching them ride huh? I enjoy watching him ride almost as much as he enjoys riding it. I looked around for a suzuki or honda when we bought his but they were just too much scratch for no longer than he's gonna be riding that size. Just for reference I got this 110cc brand new for $485. I can buy several of those for the price of 1 name brand. The only real downfall to it is the tire size. His ground clearance sucks. Other than that it's perfect for him. He's still not legal to ride on public land for another month but once he gets legal I'm taking him down to Wayne and let him ride down there some.
-
he rides that thing for hours a day. I have a trail around the yard that he has to stay on so the damage to the yard is limited. He does a pretty good job on it too. Very mature rider for his age. He watches for his sister really well and comes to a stop when she's around and things like that. I want to run him down a go kart at some point. I'd like to get him into racing karts. I was talking to my wife the other day and I do believe the younger you start them driving/riding stuff the better drivers they'll be as they get older. If he keeps after it by the time he turns 16 he'll have 13 years of riding under his belt. He started on an electric at 3 and moved to the gas this year at 5.

glad she's doing well and your priorities are focused. You never truly know what they mean to you until they're gone. Lost my dad to cancer a couple of years ago and then my mom a year later to an ugly battle with diabetes. I miss them a lot and think about them every day.

I posted a month or two ago about getting this for him. He rides the shit out of this thing. He came to me last week with a flag we got at monster jam back in Feb. or whenever it was here earlier in the year. He wanted it mounted to his 4 wheeler. 10 minutes of my time and a quick education for him on the many uses of duct tape and he has a grave digger flag now. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=333&pictureid=2351

I'm more of a test and tune type of guy. I like to go and make 3 or 4 passes and head on home.
-
cool. I'm pretty sure we're going. Just gotta hope the weather holds out. Right now the 10 day is calling for rain next Thursday.
-
are the crowds real heavy? I know I went to a test and tune at trails a few years ago and the wait between runs sucked...over an hour. Not in a hurry to do that again.
-
Me and my brother are going to try to make the test and tune next Thur. out there. I know the gates open at 5pm but when do they stop racing? Also, what's the crowds looking like this time of year?
-
good advice....take gtp up on his offer and let him teach you how to do it in the future. There's tons of books on this stuff you can read but no light switch is worth risking burning down your house over.

a good sand box goes a long way. My kids spend quite a bit of time in there. I also throw the ball around with both of them. You can still play tee ball with him even though he's not on a team. You'll be glad you did when he does start tee ball. He'll have a leg up on some of the others. Kids will self entertain pretty well. I've found you give them dirt, sticks, and rocks and they'll find something to do with all 3. I also bought a bow and arrow for my son and set up a target out back. He has that, a red rider bb gun, and a sling shot. He stays pretty busy out there. I also bought him a 110 cc 4 wheeler this spring. Although that's fat ass promotion it's fun as hell watching him tear around the yard on that thing.

My son still does all that stuff for the most part. Lancaster Sales has just about any cap gun you could want. He was shooting the round plastic caps for a while but now he's on the rolls of paper caps. Cheap too. The gun is like $1.99 and the caps are 30 cents a box or something like that. I also burned him a best of bugs bunny dvd that him and my daughter watch quite a bit. I do agree that kids are getting lazy compared to when we grew up but I blame most of that on the parents. My mom used to lock our ass outside during the summer.haha Hot? Sit in the shade. Thirsty? Water hose is on the side of the house. Hungry? Pear tree and the strawberry patch is around back.

I saw one at the bristol race last year that was pretty similar to that one. That's probably the only way you could do that. Buy it and sell it as advertising and stay on the road year round going to races.
