  1. 614Streets is who I thought we would see a thread about first.

Dood, I met him years ago when he was selling a Geo Tracker at his shop for $300. Ant was there. He was a cool guy.

Then I saw someone post up Will's stuff on yellowbullet.com or some site and I be like :no::no:

  2. So here is my thought on why Ohio has so many rare weird-o cars: Ohio State, The auto industry, and the shipping industry.

Ohio state has a huge engineering program. Engineers tend to have a high concentration of gearheads.

Although the auto industry is in Detroit, Ohio is littered with smaller engineering and manufacturing suppliers to the OEMs. These shops not only attract a pool of craftsman but some of them also support the classic and sports car industries.

Ohio is one of the top shipping hubs in the country. If you can get it to a port, you can get it to ohio. This makes importing rare weirdo cars a lot easier (and cheaper) than most places.

Also having a long boring winter does help, esp with restoration projects.

Important to note that it is the 7th largest state by population in the country. Being in banking most of my career, I can tell you there are quiet corners of money or passionate hobbyists all over this state for a myriad of reasons (corporate, old money, new money, government/military).

Lots of people surprised at what this state shows off, but I've grown to love it here. DESPITE THE FUCKING WINTERS.

  3. TIL: Central Ohio includes Dayton, Cleveland, and Chicago.

We're getting to that point. In IL, you could be 2-3 hours from CHI (like S. Wisconsin) and consider yourself Chicago.

Seen census data for work...if you're in Ohio, you're going to Columbus first in a big way, Cincy second. Cleveland is flat to negative population growth. Death/moving rates are consuming most of the other MSAs in the state. Not much large corporate/capital market investments in CLE.

    At least we're not Michigan.

  4. Bingo...

California wants nothing but EVs, they can't even keep the power grid up right now...

Battery tech is still a LONG WAY from being ready for widespread use.

Getting materials for batteries is rough on the planet and China has that market in its pocket right now.

So, in the governments eyes this is a great plan :lolguy:

    Well said, Wags.

Just watched Matt Farah’s review of the Mustang Mach-e...amazing car, but he crapped all over the public charging network.

I shudder to think how much Biden is going to pledge to infrastructure development, and more than half of those components are coming from overseas.

  5. what businesses are still closed? I know some are open in a limited capacity, but I can't think of any right now that are just closed due to govt telling them to.

Good point....let me clarify that many areas of the country are still RESTRICTING capacity and hours of operation. The chain effect is some smaller businesses are forced to operate on much more limited schedules and volumes, or possibly have to shut down altogether.

    Not a government-mandated shutdown.

  6. Are we there yet with the gaming business?

"Here's $1,000. Unlock all the cheeves in this game for me in the next 2 weeks so I can play the rest of the campaign."

I mean, gaming app developers already make a mint if they have a popular game. Wouldn't put it past techies paying "pros" to help them level-up in a game they love.

  7. My wife is gung-ho about getting kids back to school, so she passed the FBI background check and got vaccinated to become a substitute teacher for UA Schools. I'm proud of her, but it's sad that many schools don't have enough teachers for hybrid/in-person classes.
  8. https://www.axios.com/biden-covid-package-progressive-wish-list-3e58cfa2-b16f-4262-8e98-46c80e5f4cea.html

I've trusted Axios news for the last 4+ years, and this article is a quick but good read.

I'm upset by all this government spending, but I have to say aside from stimulus checks, PPP and Cares Act/Main Street Lending programs, there definitely is a significant portion of the paycheck-to-paycheck population that's gotten worse by the shutdowns. Trump's spent over $4 Trillion in pandemic response. We need another $2 TRILLION under Biden...and even he says 'that's not enough'??

When are we going to REOPEN BUSINESSES? I'm not talking WalMart and Kroger, but local restaurants and stores???

Of course there are still going to be problems, but we have to move forward through this......and it's not on the back of continued government spending. Once we roll out more of the vaccine to the general population, it's time to reopen and put personal responsibility back in the hands of the people. (Scary concept for gubmint, I know)

  9.

I stand corrected. Thank you, Wags.

Still, helping my argument is that Trump still had to say shit, whether he was briefed or not...or just forgot.

The guy is just flat out the worst. He gets no support from me for anything coming his way from this point out. Time to bow out gracefully, even though we know he’ll remain as vocal and visible as possible. He and his derpy family.

  10. 1) You have to schedule a peaceful protest in a public gathering place. That was done in DC, and Trump was there.

    2) When Trump spoke to the protesters, he said that the landslide election he won was stolen, that history will remember strong patriots, and everyone should march over to the Capitol where they're certifying fraudulent votes. Show of strength.

    3) People...now, a mob...went over to a lightly-guarded Capitol building, walked through closed sessions of government, and threatened/assualted cops and employees while they were working.

Whether the Capitol "march" was planned weeks in advance is irrelevant: Trump got people fired up with lies and they marched on good faith to the Capitol that they would be heard.

    Chaos ensued. Trump is responsible.

  11. I have nothing to add other than stock up. This will be a bumpy ride.

they are going to attack the 2A hard. small business are going to get destroyed and all this free stuff on top on the stimulus pork is going to create even bigger problems for the future gens.

stretch out those throats boys, the dems are rock hard and looking to shove it anywhere they can.

Stock up, boys...Obama's going to take our guns.

No wait, it's Pelosi and Schumer. THEY'RE going to take our guns.

Wait, no...it's bad corporate America for not helping Remington stay out of bankruptcy! Trump's stopping us from getting more guns!

Wait, it's the CHINESE...with their bad trade deals and flu! They are taking our guns!

Hang on, I need to re-stock...my MRE's have gone bad since the last FoxNews ad I bought my supply from.

  12. I'm not trying to win anything, but many of these replies appear more about changing someone's mind or showing them why they are "wrong" rather than listening and simply discussing. If this is what the country has become, no wonder there are more and more shoving their heads in the proverbial sandbar that may or may not exist.

There's nothing wrong with being a general good human being without picking a side. Though it seems to me if you haven't chosen a side they both will come at you to prove your are misinformed, wrong and unamerican.

Pages 5 and 6 of this thread have delivered for me.

I don't know gillbot personally (I do greg, Geeto67 and most others in this thread, regardless of their political beliefs) but I think this comment hits very close to home why we try to work towards open communication and sharing of ideas....only to have - as I myself get older - those with the most to lose choosing to remain silent on many pertinent issues.

Even when Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton did a song about not saying anything at all, and they were panned for white privledge and "SILENCE = CONSENT". It's tough out there for a theocentric, fiscally-conservative, cisgendered white male!

  13. https://financialpost.com/news/economy/how-china-won-trumps-trade-war-and-got-americans-to-foot-the-bill?r

This is the sort of historical reference that will show Trump's policies were bad business. He had a few low-hanging-fruit, short-term benefits for U.S. businesses and taxpayers, but I fear the med- and long-term harm it's done on a global scale. Time will tell if Biden and subsequent presidents make the right choices (many difficult) to help us back on top.

Bottom line: Trump cared so much about the appearance of him winning, that he undermined others' efforts on complex global dealings to make himself look better.....and ended up screwing up more in the process.

  14. I'd do a freshen up on the motor, either just re-ring and bearing, since the 86 is a forged piston motor or go to 306 but if you're going to 306 might as well go 331 for a few hundred more since you're boring it out anyways. Put a nice set of twisted wedge or afr 165/185 heads and performer rpm or twisted wedge intake on it. Around a 510-520 lift cam. A centerforce dual friction type clutch, pro 5.0 shifter, fms driveshaft. Shorty headers and X-pipe with your choice of mufflers. Frame ties. Put 3.73 to 4.10 gears. Do a 5 lug swap with 31 spline axles with a limited slip diff. poly bushing upper and lowers. a decent rate spring all the way around. then you would need a tune, injectors and i'd put a bigger radiator in. you should run 11's (depending on which heads and gear you choose) on a drag radial and drive where ever you want. the t-5 with the pro 5.0 and that block will hold that hp and set up for a long time. issues happen when you add power adders, like a 225 shot and split the block in half to run 10.20's on heads that only flow 170 cfm on the intake side...lol i ran base performer heads with a f cam and 1.7 roller rockers on a stock block 347 for years with a victor jr intake and 650 carb hooked to a t-5 for years. that combo on a radial in a stock suspension 84 vert went 11.82 with 4.10 gears and burnt up radials. then in a 89 coupe with 4.30 gears and a slick its gone 11.42

    Welp, there's your recipe.

  15. https://www.homedepot.com/p/rental/MTA-Scaffold-Interior-Scaffold-APHDI-41837/309005744

My FIL bought some scaffolding from HD because it was about the same price for the rental period he wanted vs. the buy. Unfortunately distance and the fact that he doesn't loan tools or i'd ask him if you could borrow it.

So, the "Franklin" brand from Harbor Freight looks like the same stuff...and it's $169 a set through the end of the month. Considering I'm looking at using this to secure tarp over the RV while working on it, it's cheaper for me to buy over renting for a month!

    http://www.hfqpdb.com/coupons/4654_ITEM_FRANKLIN_HEAVY_DUTY_PORTABLE_SCAFFOLD_1609462851.0992.png

I was going to offer Clay a helping hand when needed but if he welds up some scaffolding himself I'm 110% out.

    LOL. Agreed.

  16. D stunk: we kept forgetting DeVonta was on the field. Najee juked through us.

O was rough: 2nd half Bama had Teague's number, losing Sermon 1st play sucked, and Fields just looked rattled the whole time.

Still enjoyable to watch the Buckeyes play, still proud of them......and just glad we beat Clemson.
