  1. Are you still on the shitter? Calm down, finish your business, and you'll feel better. The "People" I'm speaking of could be anyone....not referencing any person or group specifically because I was sharing a thought. Again, Kerry...not every response needs to be dissected by you, and when you pry for more information, I can happily choose not to indulge you.
  2. So...I was making the point that not every response needs a "gotcha" comment. Look! I made the point again! Do you understand now? Here's a hint...a response from THIS comment means you DON'T understand. I am not mad, so all your above points are irrelevant. Why don't you re-read my original post so you can understand - like you should've done the first time - who I feel is being unreasonable. Not every comment needs to be dissected by you, Kerry. When you choose to break apart someone's comment as you do above, not any one - or combination of - your interpretations has to be correct. If anyone is mad, I'm guessing it's someone feverishly commenting to an internet forum post using an iPad whilst on the toilet. Work on your time management and task prioritization. "TMI" responses win you points towards your argument. You don't sound glad, and this wasn't a chat so much as you running around metaphorically-speaking, referencing case law and anything else that came to your mind, when all I was suggesting - as you clearly forgot in your unnecessary coverage of every other consumer protection tenant AROUND Dieselgate since there is no "fix" yet - is that people offered a buyout are still expecting more blood when there are greater corporate atrocities abound. It's a larger view I have the luxury of exploring since I'm not directly affected as a consumer of VW's decisions.
  3. ^^^Inserted attempts at having the last word, when there is no need to respond. Typical Kerry. Since I've said numerous times it's my opinion, then YES...it is unreasonable to me. I'm certain there are others who share my stance, which is why I fell comfortable sharing it amongst my car-enthusiast peers. Focus on the content of your counterpoints, and don't rush to misspell them just because you're trying to beat a clock somewhere AND respond. Great. You still blah blah blah'd your way to NOT be able to prove people are being forced out of their cars. No one has taken their cars, which you stated before. Get your facts straight. That's a lot of talky-talky to not disprove that VW offering a buyback is a partial solution. By your logic, VW is buying back these cars out of the goodness of it's corporate heart, as recompense to it's valued clients OR the hopes that this goodwill gesture will go towards - or soften - an EPA "fix" to be decided. I'll give you a mirror, as you're a self-proclaimed troll on this board that provides counterpoints when you feel one is needed. As a liberal, you should appreciate the openness to share an opinion. This is me sharing my thoughts. Still...yup...not unhappy.
  4. I'm not making any jokes. You are the one posting more anecdotal, non-verifiable "stories" that supposedly help your case. Supposition. Just because Rymer doesnt agree with environmental laws doesn't imply that he's not for a clean environment. Show me evidence of Rymer openly violating the laws and I'll agree it's a statement of fact. Until then, you're still as judgmental as the CR folks you thumb your nose towards. Your sense of humor sucks...again, know your audience. No one expected you to deliver like Dave Attell. Translation: blah blah supposition blah blah you still get to keep your car. I'm not talking about how VW broke the law, I'm talking about an unreasonable level of public outcry for one instance when far greater atrocities are being committed on a daily basis from corporations across the globe far worse and ongoing for consumers and the general public. People are myopic and misguided. Actually, I've seen the same "Big Pharma" videos as you're referencing, and I'm not suggesting that we don't need consumer protection laws. You'd be surprised at the depths I can fathom, despite the detrimental effect that has for your arguments. It's not worth my time to make roundabout references...but apparently it is a good use of yours. I understand the eventuality of this process to which you're inferring. Until then, it hasn't happened and "deadlines" have been passed with no action. I'm sure there are numerous fixes that are possible, but apparently nothing that's worth acting upon aside from a full buyback of vehicles from current owners that want to take their offer. I never suggested I was screaming. You're not affected by this "thing" either, and yet you are being a dick to everyone on Columbus Racing NOT caught up in the Dieselgate scandal firsthand. Funny, I was never unhappy to begin with and now I'm smiling at the effort you've taken to refute my comments as an opinion on the topic. I chuckle even more thinking that you're getting red in the face, still waiting to mention McDonalds when that was never going to happen anyway. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2016/12/parting-out-buyback-vws/
  5. Let me try to respond to Kerry in a way that he understands. That's a terrible analogy to this situation. And you're passive-aggressive comment could be applied to anyone who bought a VW/BMW...where does the absolution come into play that German cars were built by people/families for murdering factions during WWII? Sounds like if you want to get in the weeds, it would be tough NOT to support any criminal enterprise because nearly EVERY company broke laws at some point. I'm calling the cops on Kerry...he's tearing labels off mattresses. That's judgy. How's your Jeep running? Old motorcycles running rich? Properly disposed-of chemicals/parts from mechanical repairs? Be Kerry: mention something everyone knows because he's oblivious to his audience and wants to continue being passive-aggressive. Not true. Takata cheapened out as much as possible to improve profitability and deliver a compliant product for clients, while still satisfying their shareholders. There's definitely "knowledge" in what they were doing...there just wasn't a well-defined law against corporates doing corporate stuff like that...yet. Gee, Kerry...now that you mentioned it I DON'T LIKE TO BE LIED TO EITHER. That's probably why I skeptically view major news sources, Facebook, commercials, or pretty much any report sponsored by a for-profit or non-profit entity that has a political benefit one way or another depending on how a report draws a conclusion before being released to the public. Been around the block, and don't need laws to protect common-sense when I'm looking out for my best interests. I'm not as naive as you are. Clearly, you enjoy interpreting a past scenario as a springboard to make fantastical analogies that overly-dramaticize your stance on an issue. It's easy to see how enjoyable this is when you can operate in a vacuum. This happens all the time with many, many products you buy or services you pay to use on a daily basis. They can still own and drive their car...no mandate for VW to take TDIs from customers, albeit with anticipated greater depreciation. If market forces and dimished values were a crime, Jaguar and Mercedes would never be able to sell a car in the U.S. Right...but Toyota isn't buying Camry's back after people died or GM's not buying back Cavaliers because people died...VW is buying back whole cars because they broke a law and people are STILL treating them horribly, with little regard to the double-standard OR whether they should've bought from VW in the first place, given their ideals. No...I'm disappointed that all the above entities you've listed serve a customer, a citizen, and/or consumer that has ever-evolving expectations to be served at an increasingly disregarded for personal responsibility or common-sense approach to what is reasonable, given an offense. I'm not challenging the laws, and I'm not suggesting that people should care any more or less about the environment, consumer protection laws, etc - LIKE YOU CLEARLY ARE COMFORTABLE JUDGING - but I am lamenting the absence of basic tenants that consumers should have. The consumer cannot be trusted to make purchasing and consumption decisions for their best interests - that's now the responsibility of the corporation; The more that we can litigate "caveat emptor" out of a free-market economy, the better. Or, that's what Kerry wants to believe.
  6. Ugh. I know this sounds all "Get Off My Lawn"ish...but are people REALLY that spineless that they hear about DieselGate and are that bitter about VW? It's not like Takata, where a safety device ends up KILLING people...it's a company who knowingly worked around EPA rules but the vehicles STILL operate properly, just not as advertised. I'm all about taking a buyout when one is offered, but I'd do it with a smirk on my face...not some self-righteous attitude that my faith in Corporate America is shattered by VW and their lies... - Aren't there dotted examples of other OEMs doing the same thing? KIA/Hyundai and GM inflating MPG ratings? - Are people not offended that their information is being skimmed from phones, even though they are promised security? - Are people not upset when businesses cut corners to save a buck? Stop eating at fast food joints, drinking processed beverages, filling up through major petroleum company gas-stations, buying clothes from CostCo and devices from Apple, banking at Wells Fargo...
  7. This was a recommended video, but I have to say this guy makes cleaning a car seem simple. I've seen pics of guys super-sudsing a car...never done that. I'm also not using microfiber towels in EVERY friggin step like this guy. Nice tips...definitely some stuff I can do to improve my cleaning game.
  8. I grew up with Shelby CSX cars still being interesting street runners. Unique, lightweight, reduced-unsprung weight aside, those dinky wheels look ridiculous.
  9. In for specific details on how you did this yourself. Did you use black iron pipes or yellow corrugated?
  10. Your first paragraph - Facebook is that way because it's so open-platformed. My nieces/nephews and their friends sub 16-years old don't even use FB anymore...it's all SnapChat and IG...more focused in terms of content restriction. Same with Twitter and LinkedIn (bit LI is more the community...you add non-business noise like personal photos or political stuff and you'll be lambasted). Second - Can a tribe be accessed through multiple users/user IDs like FB?
  11. What were they doing with a TDI? I have a hard time believing their first and third vehicles weren't a lifted Bro-Jeep on Rockstar wheels and a leased, black 2015 Mustang GT with bolt-on straight-pipe exhaust... ...and ALLLLLL the LED's eBay can throw at the guy.
  12. My bad, Samsonite! We're good. Carry on with AJ.
  13. Does it belong to your boyfriend, and is currently lodged up your colon?
  14. I was grinding my teeth at night for awhile back when I was stressed. Thanks, Obama. The right side of my jaw is a little sore and pops, especially when I'm chewing only using my left side. I guess I'd rather have a jaw that pops than my knees.
  15. So, thanks for the suggestions, guys. I tend to follow the Bill Clinton-led mantra of "Beg for forgiveness, instead of asking for permission" but happy I called the City of UA. Code and Building dude looked at my plot, and I told him I was looking at doing a 10x20' or so carport. He said that UA treats carports like detached garage structures, meaning cannot be within 3' of a property line, and max size is restricted by total square footage of property. He looked at an aerial map of my property and said I had plenty of room to add. The Building permit would be $50, and the design/construction plans needed to contain dimensions and building materials, to be approved by the zoning board. He said they've seen a lot of carports come up for approval in the last couple of years. Materials aren't as big of a concern as the "detached garage" minimums, like a 7' opening and what walls/screens would be used. Waiting for an email from then outlining the code minimums. Wifey OK'd the project. This should be a fun process!
  16. So, I've been researching "temporary" garages, looking for a way to add some sort of rain/sun/snow shelters to cover 1-3 of my cars that are not in my 2-car garage. Also, this would be a spot to cover some of the kids' toys (cheap bikes, bigwheel, sports stuff) so I don't have to keep them in the garage, and easy access for the kids when they want to play without having to move vehicles. I've looked at VersaTube, which seems like a well-engineered solution, but admittedly I don't need something that is 10+ feet high, as most of my "toys" are lowered to the ground. Plus, in case it hasn't been assumed, I'm trying for something as low-key so my neighbors won't get TOO pissed. No sense in telling CR my intentions without outlining limitations. The other natural go-to on the cheap side would be a 17'x10' garage for $180-$250 through Harbor Freight, but I don't want a tarp solution if I can avoid one for the cost. Plus, props to the other automotive guys I've seen on YouTube, buying a HF car shelter and having to pretty much DOUBLE the number of tubes just to halfway strengthen the frame! I have a cold chopsaw, and a welder...let alone air tools and such...I realized this weekend WHY NOT TRY TO DO SOMETHING MYSELF? Has anyone made their own carport? I'm thinking I can source steel from Stargate Metals in Grandview, and use composite/aluminum roofing panels....make a frame that's welded and bolted together, anchored to the driveway. Looking for experiences. Thanks!
  17. Same problem on our 2010 Odyssey...this snow shows that we won't be able to make it thru the winter. I'm just going to get new replacement A/S tires. If you were talking about getting new wheels/tires (upgrade in the spring), then do snow tires on the factory wheels.
  18. I've got an event downtown later, but in for dinner at this point!
  19. I still have it and CRcade definitely ruins it.
  20. I thought that would go well on the Camaro... I guess funny. Not. found.
  21. I've been following Noriyaro late this year...and I have to say, for $250 this seems like a super-troll-get-pulled-over-with-the-quickness-Millennium-Falcon mod of the century! Considering shitty eBay Chinese HID kits cost nearly the same for less light output...
  22. That's funny you mention this place...I drive by it often when I'm down in that area.
  23. I'd add some weight to the back just to make sure that they do. These things make me laugh just looking at them. EDIT: $5600???? That guy's schmewking crakque.
