  1. Is there a cost? I'm interested but will have to double-check my schedule.
  2. I dislike the Camaro's styling over the Mustang because it's unnecessary bulky, with a really high beltline and tiny greenhouse. The Mustang - even though it's slightly heavier - LOOKS more svelte, athletic, faster...
  3. +1. Waze is great and the next, better site for crowdsourced traffic/cop information will be even better. To Tim's point - for 90% of my around-Ohio business/personal driving - I've gotten pretty familiar with highways and rural routes but I can still see a case for a radar detector in areas you're not familiar with.
  4. Was coming out from lunch and saw this thing at the NW corner of Bethel and Sawmill, by the Mexican/Latin-American market. I've seen pics of these but it was pretty cool to see one in person. Still has the Mexican license plates and registration stickers in the windows! 5-speed stick, 4WD with lockers... http://i.imgur.com/cHS0KhY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zoQAJ4U.jpg Bigger than I expected; about the size of a Subaru Legacy wagon but taller. I would think something like this would sell well in the USA if it was priced to compete.
  5. The purpose of this thread is, indeed, to communicate a possible bias that exists with certain law enforcement officers as I have noticed in recent interactions. Be Kerry: claim "not to care", then build an argument no one wanted to hear anyway. Know your audience. Next time you get pulled over, I'm sure you'll confess your law-breaking behavior and request just punishment from the LEO. Didn't you break the tires loose on my CTS-V and exceed the speed limit on a public road? Hypocrite much?
  6. Sure! It's a CR whore...everyone's used it. PM me and I'll give you my address. You can pick it up anytime in my driveway.
  7. Looks like this...http://www.harborfreight.com/800-lb-low-lift-transmission-jack-69685.html
  8. YOU be the advocate if you care that much...and I didn't suggest they are "mutually exclusive". Don't need to send my message all the way over to one side of the spectrum.
  9. I have a HF transmission jack, but I don't consider it to be low-profile...
  10. If Ford makes a GT350 convertible, that may have to be my next car. Love the power of GM's 6.0+ Lsx/LTx engines, but seems like Ford has perfectly paired the European revving/wail in an All-American V8. THAT speaks volumes to me.
  11. It might have been a coincidence the last two times I was pulled over (Jones, Wags, Paul, MoJoe know the LAST time )... BUT...my point is that for something most car guys would want anyway, I've had a couple of saved-my-ass moments. Oh, the last time I got pulled over? 11:30pm at night in the middle of Johnstown driving the BMW and I didn't have my driver's license with me. Apologized to the cop and showed him my CCW (only form of photo ID I had on me). He let me go.
  12. Yesterday, I was driving my full-black tint, loud-exhaust, no-front plate 1995 BMW on Rt.30 near Wooster, trying to get to a client meeting at 2pm. As I come over a hill doing at LEAST 75mph in a ?? zone, I see a OSHP Charger in the median. I coast down to about 65, still trying to find a speed limit sign. Pass the trooper, and he comes out to follow...I obviously see him. Ahh, speed limit is 60. I tap the brakes to slow down (and in a way to signal the cop that I see him, I guess:lol:) and he speeds up to me and pulls me over. As I'm getting my DL out, I roll down the windows - so he can see me - and he's getting something out of the trunk of his cruiser. As he walks up, it's a tint-darkness-tester-thingy. I tell the officer I have my CCW, but I'm not carrying as he walks up to the car. He beams a big smile and says he sees that (assuming from running my license plate?). Asks to see my insurance card, which I have but it's an old card. He says he pulled me over for tint being too dark, no front plate, an illegal license plate cover on the rear and "I was going a little too fast". Asks me if I have current insurance and I said yes, it was on my Progressive app. I also told him I had a letter (thanks, Tom) from my optometrist saying that I'm sensitive to sunlight, hence my tint. He asks me where my front plate is, and I tell him it's in the trunk...this was a FL car, and I had no front bracket. He says that front plates are great for them if there's a hit-and-run, because it breaks away and they can identify the assailant. I nod my head and smile in understanding. He very politely asks me to find my front plate, and try to put it back on. Gives me my drivers' license back, and tells me to have a nice day. I look at Waze...I was pulled over for less than 4 minutes. A similar situation happened to me last Easter in Johnstown. I'll tell it to you if you ask me in person. It is soooo good to hear it [<<groupX reference] PSA...get your f**king CCW, and be respectful of the rules and law enforcement. We all enjoy driving customized vehicles enthusiastically. It may just save you from a ticket in the future. TL;DR = If you get a CCW, the police recognize you as a "good guy that's in the system", and are more prone to release you to enjoy your day.

  14. For emphasis, this is what I can't figure out after hearing some more details about his death. However, I have learned something important in the last few years: The more self-affirming someone appears on social media, the more they battle with it IRL. Except for you, Kale. You're a solid bloke who's keeping people up to speed on your training. I need to post more stuff on FB just so my parents and relatives know I'm alive.
  15. Since you guys are talking about it: It is crazy what we now know and are figuring out about head injuries. I don't know what our grandfathers did, but it does seem like the generations from the 70s on are figuring out better ways for a thrill, thumping their skulls in the process. Sad to think that a few clocks to the brain - even wearing a helmet - may diminish our lives and brain activity so much. THAT BEING SAID - I'm wondering about other factors on his life. He had a wife and two kids? Was it really that rough of an existence at 41? I've just heard about a few notable suicides recently and I wonder what is making people feel like that's the only way out???? It's a terrible thing to think about, IMO... EDIT: Kale, you captured my second paragraph very well...
  16. Yeah, don't kick yourself for that. I hear Ben talking about parting out a Mustang for a FF Cobra - I talked about doing that with a Mustang GT convertible (drive it for a few years then part it for a FF) back when I was looking for a 'vert in '12 - but in reality you end up storing a heap that you'll never part out properly. You were good to sell it. I spent a solid 15 years in love with the FF Cobra...now that GM built the Corvette Z06 in a convertible/targa, I have to admit I'd go with one of those used in 7 years for $30-40k rather than $30k into a good Cobra kit car.
  17. If he's into cars, maybe he's into planes? I'm still buzzing over the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton - an easy 50min highway drive.
  18. Damn! Perf Pack 'Stang approaches $50k and can't beat a sub-$40k Camaro... Although, I do feel that there's a lot of bias in these reviews. Also, the LULZ in this thread are good.
  19. That really is. I enjoyed autoX through UFO there...
  20. Rough news to hear. Glad you got out OK!
  21. I'm definitely a fan for sure. Certainly over the Camaro.
  22. Holley 750 double-pumper, Nitrous wet kit, MSD 6AL ignition, Victor Jr. intake on a Chevy small block? Guessing a TH400 backs this puppy up?
  23. I watched a couple of Head2Head's on YouTube yesterday regarding the '16 Camaro SS and Mustang GT, and the thumping GT350R and Z/28...I gotta say that as much as I love my CTS-V I was reminded that GM still uses shitty plastic in their interiors. I'd wait for a GT350 with dat 5.2L Voodoo over a new Camaro all day long.
