We had a Samsung front-load washer...for $1400 w/dryer it was absolute garbage. All of the things mentioned above. Went to a medium-priced top-loader in 2013 and it's been great. Letting your wife go forward with an unwise purchase after consulting CR for help is a McSteak. Also, having done a 2nd-floor laundry, your choice in stackable appliances is low and not full of good units. Not sure how much utility your wife would get out of 9 sqft of floor space but she's better with standard appliances and shelf space above the units to better utilize the space. Appliance Smart has always served me well....except when it came to stackable units (not their fault).

Sorry to hear, Wags. At least the passion you have in PM has been paying off in recognition and some business. In the end, the right career move will make all the waiting and emotional stress worth it.

All kidding aside from you chuckleheads... I have been hitting up SearchTempest for the last couple of weeks. There was a pawnshop on Leonard Ave by the airport that had a set of 20" wire wheels with Goodyear tires, but the tires were for an SUV fitment...not enough clearance in the fenders given the wheel offset.

First off, I know you guys are going to hate on me for this. Secondly, I know an equal - if not greater - number of you would be secretly jelly if I score some hunnert-spokes. If I'm going to keep the Lincoln, I gotta get some better rolling stock (has good condition factory wheel covers). Would like to get: - Used but well-kept set of 15" to 18" wheels, preferably 8" wide. - RWD offset. - Lincoln "Turbine" wheels from the 70s-80s would be great. WIRE WHEELS would be pimp: gold on the spokes or nipples would be good as the car is tan/metallic brownish copper. - Would love whitewall tires, but if the set has good rubber and the price is right I'm not going to be picky. Not looking for some Cragar soft-8s...something shinier and more "dressy" for this thing. Pic of the car is in thread below for perspective, as well as some suggested wheel looks. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123453&highlight=lincoln http://i.imgur.com/xBUND6Rm.jpg I did contact a guy in MI with a set of wires/tires for $600 but he sold the set last week before Christmas. Most of the other CL flakes have been the wrong offset or too much money.

WWCRD: Family member buys my car? With a twist...
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Passing Lane
If I got another car after selling the Lincoln, it'd be more along the lines of a 2dr/4dr hardtop, rather than a convertible land yacht; older car maintenance is a pain...adding a complex and obsolete top mechanism to something that's going to sleep outdoors in the sun and snow makes me nervous. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cadillac-DeVille-Deville-calais-eldorado-coupe-/311510077385?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4887728fc9:g:yZsAAOSw~otWecgL&item=311510077385 ^^^Look at this monster...right here in Columbus! -
WWCRD: Family member buys my car? With a twist...

We specifically discussed that my dad (lives in Cleveland) has no room for a huge Lincoln in my parent's 40's-style house in an older neighborhood. Years ago, Pops lusted after an Austin Healey 3000 Mk II, but other than that he's never really been interested in cars... Every "fun" car I've gotten (from my Corvette to the BMW to the V...) he's never shown an interest in driving. Honestly, I think the gesture is to take the incentive of selling it for a profit off the table so I will keep it. I really don't think he specifically wants it. So, that said...even IF he really liked it (which would be a shocker to me) - I'd still be taking the money, fixing the A/C and treating some of the areas of surface rust and keeping it maintained for him to use whenever he felt the desire. It would certainly be "HIS" car. 100% agree this is what happened. I would've chalked it up to the wine and good feelings had ne not brought it up again when they were leaving. I deflected for now but will certainly bring it back up to him at some point in the future. RS4 is a phenominal car but I love my brother for just having it for himself. He keeps it shiny, parked in a climate-controlled garage, and occasionally drives it but VA/DC traffic is insane. Whenever he gets bored with it down the road, I'll be interested in buying it. I have a feeling he's going to keep it for a long time. -
I. FUCKING. LOVE. NASCARLO. By far, my favorite project these guys ever did on Roadkill. I've dreamed about a similar project: ex-racecar chassis with a scrap of old metal and a VIN enough to get it registered...go out hunting everything from Ferrari/Lambo to Ariel Atoms.

So I just came home from seeing my folks for Christmas. My aunts and uncles were regailed by the story of my Lincoln I bought in November by my proud parents until we got there. During the course of my stay, I was mentioning my intent to sell it in the spring, on account of the great deal I got and the great condition the car is in. My father then asks what I think I could get for it. I mentioned a figure commensurate with what I saw the market looking for similar-condition 1978 Lincoln Continentals, to which he said "I'll give you the money if you KEEP IT." Bewildered, my older brother (single, dentist with an RS4 who lives in Virginia) said that he'd split the bill with my father. Thinking that it was just a passing thought, I didn't say anything until they brought it up again yesterday, when my dad and brother were leaving: Pops mentioned again "When are we going to do the deal on the Lincoln?" To which I said I wasn't even thinking of selling until the spring; we've got time to iron the money out. Now, I know it seems like an awesome deal: family members pay you to keep a car in the family...but I have to admit I feel uncomfortable about the deal: - I do love the Lincoln, but I wouldn't mind selling it and looking at another Land Yacht (2dr- or 4-dr HARDTOP has always interested me) some point down the road. Albeit for more money most likely... - What if I had problems with it and wanted to dump it? Would I have to give my brother and dad their money back? Curious what CR thinks... TL;DR - Family wants to pay me to keep my car "in the family". I feel a little uncomfortable being married to a deal I may want out of at some point.

who here wishes people Merry Christmas and
zeitgeist57 replied to Mace1647545504's topic in Dumpster
The trend I'm seeing in professional settings is to wish someone YOUR personal holiday greeting. In turn, people will respond in their own belief. I wished a client Merry Christmas and he responded with "Happy Hanukkah" - I didn't realize Hanukkah had started until he said it...I thanked him for the reminder and it led to a nice holiday conversation that probably wouldn't have happened if I just said "happy holidays" like some cut-rate Hallmark card. People want genuine interactions these days...lots are sick and tired of PC B.S. As long as you come correct with a positive message, anyone who takes offense to that is not a friend/client/colleague I want to deal with anyway. -
A/C and cruise control work?

Have had a lot of conversations around this topic with car guys these last few months with driverless cars. I choose to think that the hobby of being a car enthusiast will continue, though it'll be tougher: - Gas prices will inevitably go up, especially as electric/hybrid/"green" powertrains reduce the use of gas. - Stick shifts? Yeah...definitely horse-and-buggy stuff in the next 20 years. - New cars will become "appliances-on-wheels" more and more, making enthusiast-focused cars a little more rare. 50 years from now will be a very different story, but automobiles - in some form - will always be around. As long as I can have 1-3 cars that are gas-powered, stick-shifts...I'll be happy. Even if I DD a 3rd-gen Tesla to work every day.

Top Gear - Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz new hosts
zeitgeist57 replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Passing Lane
I'll clarify to show my love as well for Chris Harris...his CHonC videos are legendary, from the 3-way hypercar battle to one of my favorites with him in his personal Citroen 2CV. I'll watch, once episodes come out online. -
http://jalopnik.com/chris-harris-and-sabine-schmitz-chosen-as-new-top-gear-1749423599 When you have HUGE shoes to fill for hosts of an automotive program, these two are a good start. I'm still not going to watch. The show's past magic was the interaction of all three hosts (Clarkson, May, Hammond) amongst each other, not a collective of their individual contributions as car reviewers. I hope the new TG hosts have great chemistry together...for the show's sake.

Enjoying the heck out of it since we've had 40+ degree days! I'm having a tough time battling the thought of replacing the coils on all 4 corners with an airbag setup...

Welcome, Nate! You were at C&C on Saturday, right?

That's because it's really a LAMBO in an Audi made-to-measure suit.
