I lost it at "paternity test followed by rap battle". Wifey laughed too.

Why would you bother giving Paul the benefit of a response? Tell him to go fuck himself! Congrats with the sale! Seemed like a nice car for the dough.

No one came up to me and my brokedick Passat, asking for change... :fa:

Love the car. UNTIL... http://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae245/bmwohio/E39/IMG_7680-1.jpg I drove my friend's 540 automatic for a few weeks while I was in FL, and though it was decently powerful and very smooth, I can't imagine a 530, 528, or 525 without a manual. Congrats on the rock-solid DD regardless. -

I'll get more details and post up later: what known issues there are on the Vette...how much to flatbed it from WV...

Heard about them, never used them. The Passat had a flexpipe go bad. I order a new Bosal pipe and borrowed a welder, which unfortunately did not work. After a few weeks of living with an open V6 exhaust bank under my seat, I finally succumbed and gave them a call this morning. Mike @ MH quoted me a looooow price since I already had the flexpipe. Went over, even THEY commented how loud my car was (and they are the muffler shop!). Got it up and realized my pipe was the wrong size. They swapped pipes out for free. Got it done in less than half an hour while I had a lovely conversation in the waiting area with Bubb Rubb regarding how the new casino will likely affect his favorite pool hall down the street. I was beside myself for how much quieter the car is now. To boot, I knocked off a little more on the price since I paid cash. I'm not expecting them to start doing Tubi systems on Ferrari's, but if your DD busts it's exhaust, I highly recommend these guys.:thumbup:

Yes...I will clarify that in my head I've got Capital in mind as a fallback...was hoping for a private party with access to a flatbed for a day. I'd tow it myself, but Cleetus is not equipped for trailering.

My grandfather-in-law lives in WV, has my father-in-laws' old 1985 Corvette. He's the second owner; car's been in the family since new. Papaw Bill is a wierd one, and he let the car get pretty neglected for a number of years. According to my mother-in-law, he's spent an ungodly amount of money at corner shops around Nitro/St. Albans, and pretty much has been getting screwed. AFAIK, car is still not running and needs attention. Papaw's got the money and doesn't want a newer Corvette; he just wants his '85 running again. My MIL wants the Corvette flat-bedded back to Columbus, so I can monitor service on the Vette myself by a reputable shop. I'd work on it myself as a side project, but too much is going on right now in my life. I need a shop willing to work on a clean but neglected '80s Corvette, and someone that has a flatbed so we can go and retrieve the car. Would IPS and/or Northend Wrench be interested in taking a look at this thing? Any other shops people recommend? Thanks!

Driveway alternatives? Paver, EcoStone, etc...

http://www.terrafirmenterprises.com/application/driveways.html Need to recoat my asphalt driveway, but looking at the next couple of years, I would be interested in doing something to replace the asphalt. I have a collapsed drain pipe from my gutter anyway; excavation will be a necessity at somepoint... Anyone ever worked with pavers, or a permeable concrete surface? It may be more expensive, but I'd be willing to do it myself. BTW, I have dug up an old, 100ft. long driveway and laid down a 5"-deep, fiber-reinforced concrete driveway myself (with the help of friends and family, of course!) Saved me $7k!

Terrible thing, but.... @ "Hanz Goezinya (OBGYN)" I've swam at night in near total darkness and I lasted about 30 seconds before I started freaking out: can't see the bottom, can't touch the bottom, can't see what's around you. Water isn't so fun anymore. Can't imagine swimming in a quarry at 2am...gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it. Assuming this woman didn't sustain a head injury, what a terrible way to die.

He's being prepared for Ohio weather: 80s and sunny one minute, upper 30s and snow fall the next.

:fuckyeah: You know I'm a fan! Why not historical plates? $27 and renewable in 2050!

LOL at my 17-year old Corvette being more solid at 95k miles than a 28k-mile, top-of-the-line 2001 Mustang. There are a lot of redeeming features of the Mustang...but I would rather look at a Fox-body convertible (with mods!) for less than half the price of this Cobra. I'd feel WAAAY better about living with the cowl shake!
-
It fucking had a sewer-pipe-diameter roll bar!!! My 1995 lowered Corvette had less shake with the top off and rear hatch popped! This thing was mostly stock. I'm hoping that a lowered Cobra with improved suspension pieces, subframe connectors, and anything else in the BBK catalog would help it out in the structural rigidity department.

Welp, I just came back from Akron, swung by Jim Keim to give it a test drive. Not even going to bother with one of my CR Reviews...I was not a fan. :thumbdown - Seat was comfortable, but sitting position was reeeeally high, yet outward visibility was terrible. Driving ergonomics were lousy: instrument cluster pointing to the sky, shifter totally blocking the radio. Clutch take up was abrupt and modulating the action was too much of an effort for a smooth shift. - COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE - The driver's door was sagging, Trunk hinge bolts were surface rusted like the panel had been swapped out??? - COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE - Acceleration was nice, exhaust note was great, but I was definitely expecting more. - Mach 460 stereo was lousy, interior sound from convertible top was excessive. - COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE - Body lines were really goofy-looking and cheap up close. Yellow is not a good color, as you see all the die press creases in the fender openings. Low miles have probably kept it from rusting already; corrosion is inevitable. - rear wheel size and offset was goofy looking. - rear seat looked to have a lot of room..............it didn't. The Mini had a more comfortable backseat. (If I'm not going to USE a backseat, I'll get a Corvette...I want a good backseat!!!) - COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE COWL SHAKE - SUSPENSION SETTING: 4WD, OFF-ROAD, SNOW/SAND. I was looking for the active suspension settings to lower it, no switch to be found. - Shifter was solid, but pattern was goofy. I'm being harsh, but honest. For $14,988, it's a decent deal for what you get: a collectible convertible, RWD musclecar that is decently apportioned. However, I can't imagine a '90s Cobra/GT Mustang convertible being that much less of a car for 33-50% less on the price. My real question was: is the '03-'04 Termi Convertible that much better of a Mustang for $10k+ more?

The yella one at Jim Keim was my reason for the thread. Nice day out...mebbe CR needs another review. I had a blast driving Cordell's Miata...been thinking alot about a convertible. On beautiful days I miss my Corvette's targa top! CTS-V or not, I will do a Factory Five at some point. My renewed thinking is that a good Mustang convertible would be a decent kid-haulin' fun car that I could part out when I'm ready for the kit Cobra...with family, flying, and work I don't know when I would have the time to devote to a kit car in the next few years. I see too many threads on FFROG of guys that have to sell mothball'd Cobra kits that they haven't touched in over a year...don't wanna be that guy. I'm barely keeping the Cleetus "rolling project" on a track for completion as it is!

I've got family from Nitro/St. Albans. Welcome to the site!

Mmmm... If it's not a fail compilation, it's slow-mo replays that keep me in stitches

Jones hit the nail on the head. I wouldn't buy one unless it was a convertible. This is a C&C car, weekend/fair-weather daily driver that would get garage'd as soon as snow falls. Down the road when it had 100k highway miles, I'd yank out everything I wanted for a Factory Five Cobra from this car (engine, tranny, wheels, wiring harness, rear suspension, etc). I'd know the guts and it would save me from having to buy crate components. This is all "mental masturbation" anyway, but trying to keep my options open and know what to look for.
