  3. I don't have a truck, they broke into my minivan. But they followed me in my civic. Nothing about me looks like I have anything in my car, I am super happy they didn't steal my baby seats. yup, VBS = Vacation Bible School
  4. I live in a pretty nice neighborhood in Hilliard. This makes the second time my van has been broken into in my driveway. They took my son's VBS music the first time, this time they only took change. Two nights ago I came into the neighborhood at about 1000pm. I saw a car that had parked away from all the houses with two guys in it. Temp tag, dark blue or black thunderbird. They started following me when I drove past. I don't like that sort of thing so I drove around the neighborhood, doubling back and driving in circles, they continued to follow. I pulled over and they passed me, so I followed them for about 50 feet and they took off. I called the police and they came quickly but I had no idea where they went. Should I setup a video camera? Right now the expense doesn't justify it because I am out a total of like $5 but I don't like cowardly thieves.
  5. Yeah, what would a scuba diving ex submariner know about bouyancy. The shape allows it to displace more volume of water than the equivalent hunk of metal. So saying the shape has nothing to do with it is inaccurate. The air in the carrier just happens to weigh less than the water being displaced by the volume of the cavity created by the steel. It is all about displacement, the shape allows for more or less displacement.
  6. Bouyancy is determined by the weight of the water DISPLACED. It has alot to do with the shape, steel is negatively bouyant but somehow aircraft carriers float. If the weight of the water you are displacing is greater than the weight of the object displacing it, the object is bouyant. So, just asking if a material is bouyant isn't the best way to determine its use.
  7. If you use distilled water with baking soda in it you will get a better result, also using copper and steel as conductors will allow you to capture both the Hs and the O (H20). Now, use solar/wind power to generate the DC to create the electricity and WHAMO, you have a clean/green source. The overall carbon footprint decreases quite a bit with this technology. On the submarine (we had unlimited power via the reactor) we "made" oxygen to breath using this same system and burnt off the H2 as a by-catch. Distilled water (it doesn't conduct electricity well) a little Koh (for conduction) and useing spectrometry we captured the O and H. done and done.

    Bush on Immigration

The majority of the illegals in columbus are motivated individuals. I have no problem with someone with a work ethic, working. Just pay into the system, that's all I ask. The other thing is be recognized, we need migrant workers, sign up. As for amnesty, I have a problem with people being allowed citizenship who's first act was committing a felony.

  18. I once entered to win a cruise. I got a phone call, "congratulations you have won the cruise!" I am like, sweet! But wait, they wanted $400 for it, HUH? Apparently I wont a wonderful prize package for $400 but they couldn't provide me with any legitimate information and wouldn't let me get off of the phone to verify their story. I called the local TV station and they sent a crew to my apartment and I had an interview on the news. Basically they said I was a really cool guy because I didn't fall for a blatant scam. I just wanted everyone else to know it was a scam. Too good to be true rule and all.
  19. I say let him fade away, no honor, no martyr, just disappear without a peep. To execute him would be martyrdom, unless they shoot him with pork sausages or something.
  20. The other day my father got a strange phone call, it happens to you and I all the time but not like this… When my dad was in ‘nam he had several friends come and go either sent home after their tours, or sent home wounded or worse. They had setup along a river on a sugar sand beach and had a pretty good position dug in. The beach was really hard to build a fortification on because for every foot of depth they dug, they had to dig the hole five feet in diameter. So, two feet down and ten feet wide was a pretty big fox-hole and a mighty easy target to hit. The first rounds fell near the camp and dad was hit pretty quickly. The medic told him his head wound was superficial and he bandaged it up (just one of 3 purple hearts he received over there). Round after round fell into their position and suddenly an explosion nearby, followed by the all to familiar scream of MEDIC, told dad that another one of his friends may no longer be with him. The sergeant in the foxhole had a sucking chest wound thru the back; his flack jacket had a good sized hole in it, the mortar landed right in the fox hole. Dad helped get the chest wound under control and started looking for anyone else and then he found him. Ridge-Runner was a nice kid from a poor family that lived near the mountains; they all said he must have one leg shorter than the other in order to run on the ridge tops. He had a pretty bad neck wound and they didn’t want to move him. Dad and the medic packed him in sandbags to keep him still and to try to save him should another round fall close by. Daylight meant they would be a little safer as the VC stayed out of sight should an air strike be ordered. The medivacs landed and the sergeant and Ridge-Runner were loaded on a chopper, dad gave Ridge-Runner a shot of morphine and told him he would be OK. Dad then boarded another chopper and never saw Ridge-Runner again. Dad wrote a letter home to my grandmother and told her that if dad was KIA he wanted her to check in on Ridge-Runner because he knew his family was poor and he was wounded badly. He new he did not die in-country since his name doesn’t appear on the wall at the Vietnam memorial but he never really knew. Well, Grandma wrote Ridge-Runner a letter to let him know that if he ever needed anything to give her a call. A few weeks ago, Ridge-Runner found the letter and using the internet he found my dad. The phone rang and it was Ridge-Runner’s wife on the other end, “Are you Gary Kent” “Yes” “Did you know Ridge-Runner, in Vietnam?” “Yes” “Hang on, let me put him on the phone.” They talked about what they have been up to and talked about that day along-side that river. They decided they need to see each other soon.
  21. I hate NHRA, they charge WAAAAAYYYY too much for tickets. We had tickets on the far side (non-pit) for years and then they made those tickets gen-admission for the same price. They are in such poor shape financially they stopped caring about the racers and the fans long ago.

    Who Goes Camping?

BWCA is only 1100 miles away, road trip!!!!
  23. Most of the mexicans that made it all the way to columbus work hard. They have to come a long way to get here, therefore they are motivated and want what we all want. I have no problem with that, just pay into the same system I do. If a guy hires an illegal he knows the SSN is fake so he withholds FICA from the illegals check and puts it in his pocket. These bastards should have to stop that and quick. I don't think that is good and the verification thing would help fix that, not solve it but help to fix it.
