  1. You just bought a house, google unplugging a tub drain. If you write a check for every little thing you will go broke fast.
  2. I tend to eat when I am in chicago. Fogo De Chao or something along those lines. I go there pretty often so I never do touristy stuff. Good comedy club by Wrigley.
  3. Everything in NYC is geared to capitalizing on too many people in one place. Bathrooms are for paying customers only, etc... If you really want to go, check out Lady Liberty, Times Square is pretty cool, the financial district. It really depends on what you like. Personally I can't stand NYC. Too expensive, too many people.

    A better SSL

Interesting. I can now do research on google and the data sent back to me is encrypted. No TLS 1.2 though. ssllabs.com <-- check out the strength of SSL on any site.
  5. We are a SAAS company that is security in the cloud, we are hipaa compliant (amongst others).
  6. I need a brand new phone, on Verizon, that is global capable. There is no 4G version of this. Also, I have an unlimited data package that I regularly abuse on 3G. If I need to watch a movie or stream a video I do it on my computer. For me, moving to IOS5 and getting the iCloud service would be the only +. But that is just because of my mac and ipad.
  7. kayak.com will compare the fares, google.com/flights can help too. The problem is you are trying to go to markets where there is no competition so the fares will be high. As someone that flies 3 weeks a month and buys plenty of tickets, you need to realize that in order to go to Houston for less money, you need to connect somewhere. Plus you are doing a multi-city ticket, round trips are the least expensive but multi-city prices like 3 one-way trips. Mainline US Carriers should book out at around $600/person. Southwest might be less expensive. Keep in mind your travel dates are the worst for expense, flying out on tuesday and back wednesday or thursday is the least expensive.

Comodo was compromised and generated certs for google mail, facebook, etc.... The CEO of Comodo said "it was an APT (Advanced Persistant Threat) from IRAN. We were attacked by IRAN, he kept saying how it was the iranian govt. Moxie looked at his web servers for his SSL tools and the same IP showed up with a referrer string from a youtube video on how to hack SSL. It wasn't an APT attack, it was script kiddie!!!

We just had Moxie Marlinspike talk at our Security Conference. He talked about his Convergence project. I like his take on SSL and signing authorities and like the way convergence works. Qualys launched 2 notaries as a result of his work, and ours, with SSL. check it out, its a firefox plugin http://www.convergence.io
  11. We get calls at our church for requests for food or rent/heat, whatever. We kindly ask to setup some time with them, offer help for whatever they need. Then, we write their landlord a rent check, or bring them healthy food. Its funny how sometimes, they say "look, just give me the money and I will decided what to do with it". Those people don't get the money.
  12. go to apple.com and find the student/college store, then buy it.
  13. 23 T Altered with a 572 Merlin, Zumis.
  14. I run credit cards via Square on my Android Phone, my wife's iPhone and my ipad via wifi. You can setup security on the mifi.
  15. Get the wifi only ipad and use it with a phone that does tethering or mifi (or free wifi Internet access at various free wifi locations throughout the U.S.)
  16. If you are getting an IP address, from cmd type ping http://www.cnn.com if you get nothing type ping 198.6.1.2 (that will tell you if your dns is not working but you are connected to the interwebs) If you are getting a good internet connection but dns is dead, you need to go set a new dns server
  17. The class is for someone that wants to learn how to weld. The TIG class is a bit more advanced. If you want to weld things and get a critique, you can easily do that. The guys are all very experienced. I took the class because I wanted to learn how to mig and with the welds we put together, the critique they gave me - for a beginner class, I can now stick the things together I need to. I also understand how to make a good bead, tshoot when I am screwing up and how to better setup the machine for my materials and ability.
  18. No welding experience, has welding experience, it doesn't really matter. You can learn from these guys. And, if you need to weld something later - you can use the equipment to get it done. I was going to buy a welder but for the 2 or 3 projects I want to do, $15/hr is much cheaper and they are there if you need help.
  19. The welding instructor is an architectural welding guy, used to build metal furniture. If you want to talk advanced stuff, they would love that.
  20. I took a mig and plasma cutter class with these guys. if you need a shop to build something in, metal, wood, electronics... they are cheap and fun. They even have a laser engraver and shopbot. http://columbusideafoundry.com/
  21. How much $$$ Per hour to you return to the HOA if you dont?
  22. If I may interject because I have seen this not work in the past. Whomever you hire to do it, will have others on the list. They will not prioritize you before anyone else, and you will still have the same amount of snow on your roads as you do now. My HOA used to collect for the snow removal and the company would have broken down trucks or some other excuse and they wouldn't get to the street until 2 or 3 days after the storm. You need to find someone willing to commit to an SLA and provide proof they can still get it done should their only truck, breakdown.
