    Fuck you AEP

Happy to pay so long as they are doing something to ensure it doesn't happen again. oh, wait...
  2. I have pulled files from damaged drives using Hard Drive Rescue and a USB/IDE cable. Simple, cost effective.
  3. Try http://www.google.com and put in IE8 Security Flaw or IE8 Zero Day.
  4. Thanks for the input on this. As a web security guy I never use IE simply because it is the biggest attack fabric. The IE 8 flaw that is out now is pretty nasty. If you are a web coder and your code only runs in IE, you aren't a web coder. HTML 4/5 should render in any modern browser. If you are forgetting tags and expecting the browser to render correctly, you are designing for IE. Most sites that are "IE Only" are doing a user-agent check, which is easily faked via user-agent injection. I prefer Firefox but that is because of tools like Firebug.
  5. Does anyone on here work for an organization that mandates IE only?
  6. The best solution is to have them always facing the sun directly. This is achieved by using a dual axis tracking array. Basically I looked at my house and electric use. I need about $15k in panels/system to get a fixed system. Dual Axis would be almost $30k. This would have the electric company pay me. What are you trying to achieve? Net-0? Off-Grid? If you are going to put up Solar, think about Wind too. Around here if the sun isn't shining, the wind is blowing.
  7. Call the Columbus Idea Foundry and ask them if you can buy a sheet from them. They buy a bunch and probably have better buying power than you will.
  8. Stay during the week, the rooms are cheaper. Stay in the middle of the strip, Aria, Bellagio, like that. Enjoy.
  9. Call the city and tell them you are handicapped and cannot get out.
  10. I heard quite a few "yeah but, who would take the time to do that" and "we haven't kept paying for maintenance for updates because its still working" type things.
  11. Yup, flew a lot. Learned quite a bit too. Don't bank with any bank in the Philippines. WOW, security is non-existent there. In fact, if you are dealing with any call center that is in the PI, tell the mother-company you never want them looking at your information because in general the PI is about 10 years behind. Australians take information security very seriously. Singapore is a blast. It is really hard to find good information security practitioners. We are operating at a 3-5% deficit. That's right, our Unemployment rate is an inverse number. My best meals were had in Europe, probably because I can't eat seafood (then it would be Singapore). Anyway, rambling. What have you learned at work in 2012?
  12. the fastest way is to go to the passport agency in Chicago. Other than that, expedited, its pretty quick.
  13. yes, root and boom, malicious attackers have unfettered access to transmit via your phone.
  14. Specialty technical application, I would say $50/hr is pretty standard.

    Locksport?

I didn't take the lockpicking class there, I took it at DEFCON. The guy that teaches the class at CIF is the guy that gave me the pickset. I am not looking to get rid of the set, I would like to see if anyone else is into it here.

    Locksport?

Any lock pickers out there? I spoke at the Columbus OWASP meeting last week and they gave me a new pick-set. Super nice.
  19. the other day a friend said "I can't believe you don't drive an American car." I said "I do, it was built in Marysville and designed by a good friend of mine."
  20. As an apple laptop fan I would go MacBook Pro. I have one that I bought 6 years ago that runs just as good as the day I bought it and I let my 12 and 6 year olds play games on it.
  21. Here is my suggestion. Take the TIG class at the Columbus Idea Foundry, they have a couple of TIG machines and you can experience different ones and make a better decision. Its like test driving a car.
  22. Its like cleaning a big rabbit. I am lucky in that I have a front-end loader to pick it up but you can use a swingset too....

    Booze in Columbus

I found it for $54/bottle in Cali at KLWine. I am going there next week so I will pick some up then. Thanks for the thread though, Ohio is retarded when it comes to this. I go to Cali and walk into KL or BevMo and its like Walmart for booze.
