  1. Nah...sometime recently, last couple decades, they stopped the polishing step on the cooking surface. That's why older ones are so smooth and lodge still has that "rough" surface.
  2. My girlfriend almost pitched a 1950's Griswold 12" when they were cleaning out her great aunts...couldn't even see the markings but I knew how to get it cleaned up. Cooking surface is like glass. Best pan I own. New shit doesn't get polished (well, a new brand called Stargazer is doing it)...lodge and shit just sucks.
  3. I just put an order in with my GFs cousin. EAS 5lb tub is like $31 vs $53 retail. discount isn't too bad.
  4. Tek Experts on Hudson has always done me good.
  5. I'm not disciplined enough to set aside ~$30/wk (~$1500 return) to get myself $15 in interest on a savings account. I'd rather let em hold it and have that big payment once a year and forgo the $15 I'd earn on it.
  6. I got a bit more than normal this year too (about 50% more). About half of it was due to new energy efficient windows and doors, but the rest was a surprise. Especially since I was out of work for about 6 weeks so my income was lower than previous years.
  7. I had a mini griptillian years ago and fucking loved it. I wish I knew what happened to it. If this was in black, I'd be all over it.
  8. Tell him to keep going back to the doctor/chiro. I had a guy rear end me in May at probably 40mph while I was dead stopped. Insurance company fought me because I "only" had 1 ER visit and took a day off work (a Friday, then rested on the weekend). I ended up getting $750. If they're going to pay his medical bills, lost wages, he probably won't get more than $1000 in his pocket, and at that point, it's not worth it to get an attorney. save those for when you have accidents that will give you years to life long injury.
  9. I'm actually on the complete opposite side of town. Live by Easton and work across the street from MCE. :/
  10. Who is recommended for PT...preferably someone with Mt. Carmel, as that is my new employer, and preferred providers. I'm getting tired of the random pain from a bulging disc at L5-S1.
  11. Fuck AirBNB with a big black dick. We booked a place in like September to go to St. Thomas, USVI from 12/29 to 1/4...had our airfare bought, etc...we were set to fly out on Thursday morning at like 5:30am. We woke up Wednesday for work to an email from our host cancelling our reservation...24 hours before we were due to fly out. Guy was even emailing us Tuesday afternoon and everything was fine. Claimed he had a "maintenance issue" that forced him to cancel our reservation. I think it's total bullshit. AirBNB tried to find us another listing, but nothing else was what we wanted, and ended up booking directly through another place. They said they would "see about" covering the difference if we found another listing and it was more than what we booked. No guarantee though, so we may have been stuck with a higher bill because this dickhead cancelled our reservation The shit part? AirBNB only hits the host with a $100 penalty fee for doing this, and we couldn't even leave a review...they put an automatic review up saying our reservation was cancelled, and it only stays up for 3 months. Makes me wonder how often this guy pulls this shit. If we hadn't been able to find another place as quick as we did, I'd be livid. How are you gonna cancel on someone like that ~24 hours before they're supposed to fly 1800+ miles? There is no "maintenance" issue in this world that can't be fixed and requires cancelling a week long reservation. Never again will I use AirBNB, no matter how good the reviews are.
  12. We plan to do St John since we're staying close to Red Hook. We were gonna do Tortola but I didn't feel like getting a passport right now.
  13. girlfriend and I asked her parents for a GoPro since we're headed to St. Thomas for a week on Thursday...we wanted something to take snorkeling, since our last trip, the video we got with a Sony Actioncam sucked. ended up that our roommate heard us talking about it, he bought us a Hero+ LCD, and then today we go to her parent's house and find a Hero 4 Silver. My dad ended up telling us that he is going to get in touch with a place down there and get us a 4 hour SCUBA class where we'll get to dive to like 40' or so. Should be a pretty awesome trip. Other than that, a shirt and a universal remote control...I'm sick of having to use 5 different remotes to watch tv or a movie.
  14. I think I saw that Columbus is top 10 housing markets in the country right now...like #9 Girlfriend sold her condo recently. She bought it for like $30-35k 4-5 years ago, sold it for $73k cash, and had the offer 36 hours after listing. She walked away with a little over $40k in her pocket. I bought my house in 09 while the market was crashing, but not at it's lowest. Paid $78k, paid down about 8k, refi'd with Marc early this year, and it appraised at ~125k. I pulled out a little bit to do new windows/doors, and we converted a half bath to a 3/4 downstairs, so I'm hoping between those two projects, it bumps it up a good amount more. There is a similar house in my neighborhood listed for $149,900 right now...I'm excited to see what it goes for when all is said and done. It'll give me a better idea of where I stand.
  15. Since I've been dating my girlfriend, her parents have taken us to a ton of high end places I would otherwise probably never go to. Mitchell's, Eddie Merlot, Hyde Park, Texas de Brazil, The Barn. For steaks, Mitchell's was my favorite of those listed. I had a dry aged steak at Hyde Park, and while it was good, I can honestly say I make a better steak at home with prime steaks from Costco. Invest in a sous vide immersion cooker and you can make steaks as good as, if not better than steak houses.
  16. My girlfriend is in the process of getting some stuff done at her condo to sell it in the next month or so. Westerville schools. Near Cleveland Ave and Cooper. Let me know if you're interested. Community pool at the end of her building. Within walking distance to uptown (about a mile) and Otterbein.
  17. 614-315-7186 - Dusty. Tell him Evan Wyant sent you. he's a friend of my brothers, but did a new A/C unit for my house when I bought it, since someone stole the unit from out back after it was foreclosed on...I *think* i paid him $2k, but that would've been in 2009. my house is ~1400 sq/ft
  18. I was thinking the same thing, but what happens if I go to sell the house and have a 2 bath house that the auditor shows as 1.5?
  19. I've got a 1/2 bath in my lower level. Soon, I'll be looking to add a shower stall to make it a 3/4 bath. We're going to have to break up the concrete slab to tie in to the drain for the sink/toilet. What kind of permits do I need to look into getting for a project like this?
  20. man. I remember Derek doing it for $10/wheel when I had my wheels powdercoated and needed the tires pulled. Granted, that was probably 8-9 years ago, but damn. subscribing to this just because my girlfriends car is about due for new rubber and tirerack is looking like a good option.
  21. Not to give you all a sob story, but I bought these tickets to go to a game with my grandma. She is a snowbird, Cleveland in summer, FL in winter. She decided after this summer she would stay in FL full time vs keeping her apartment year round and only being there 4 months. So, I bought tickets to a game, because who knows when I'd be able to do it again. She's 84 and won't be up this way as much going forward. Bought the tickets in June, and a couple weeks ago, they found a mass on her lung and the grandma we thought to be relatively healthy is now in hospice a week and a half later. She won't be able to make the game, and I don't want to go to a game she should be at. Tickets are in section 165 (3rd base/home team side, just past the infield. Great seats!), Row N, seats 3, 4, and 5. I have relisted them on Stubhub, but I'll cut a deal to sell them outside of SH. It is also Bob Feller bobblehead night for the first 12,500 or so fans. $230 for all 3 or $85/each
  22. how big of a kid is this for? would a 9-10 year old be too big for it?
  23. brother picked up a 64gb micro SD card for $14.99. not bad, I guess.
  24. Jesus. by the CL ad, you must be my bosses neighbor. do you live near someone with an orange grand prix? lol
