  1. I hate this arguement. OF COARSE the gap is increasing. Pull up a chart of how much US currency is in circulation. If you put that chart up to a chart showing wealth gap GROWTH (as a percentage) over the same period of time, you will see how they correlate. The money has to "land" somewhere, and the top is the only group that doesn't spend more than they receive. The bottom stays the bottom simply because you can't have less than nothing. Very few people will ever leave the VERY bottom because of how they were raised. The only thing that is a positive for these people is how widespread the internet is now. I don't care how bad a shithole you live in, if you are in the US, you have reasonably easy accessibility to the world's knowledge. The problem still remains that "you don't know what you don't know" and if your parents completely fail in even making an attempt to teach you about the world, the odds of you even thinking about bettering your life aren't very good. The middle is it's own worst enemy. The middle COULD accumulate wealth and start narrowing that gap. The problem is that we are all so damn fixated on immediate gratification, and we all feel so damn entitled to "live like the better half" that we piss away the money as fast as it comes into our hands. You CAN'T spend as much as you earn and accumulate wealth. Period. The rich have it easy (now). I mean it's simple math. X=Y-Z X = Annual NET worth added Y = Gross income Z = how much of it left your pocket last year Most of these people have such a high "Y" that they can spend however they want and STILL add more wealth hence FURTHER increasing the "wealth gap" What we all too commonly forget is what these people endured to get to that point. Sure, there is the asshole who got lucky and hit the lottery, or the kid with such a good jump shot he's now making millions, or the chic who had a sex video go viral and now owns reality TV. We get WAY to fixated on these people. Forget them. The largest share of of them busted their asses for decades, and did the old "live like nobody else will today, so you can live like nobody else CAN tomorrow" I'm not saying you have to be rich to be happy. Not a bit. I'm saying that if you blame the wealth gap on the top, and don't hold the bottom and middle equally responsible, then congratulations.... you're entitled ass IS the problem.
  2. Bobs point is that you are measuring metrics which can be changed. One CHOOSES to be a widget maker, or a senior manager, or whataver the job may be. It's not static (like age group) so it makes an awful metric of comparison. If a guy makes 5k a year is he doing "ok"? Hell no he isn't. But by your definition I could say, "But the guy is a bum who plays guitar on the street... and compared to other bums on the street playing guitar he is KILLING IT!"
  3. A wise man once told me "YOLO" :gabe:
  4. 9s or bust I'm sure I'll just continue to run more 10.1s though. Lol
  5. Gotta love when you can beat the guy in the other lane with your head, and you don't even have to have the faster car
  6. I get what you are saying about it being tricky. If its an eliminations situation, I usually try to prestage first... then just sit and wait. I will let the other person fully stage, then I will quickly roll into full stage and start building boost right away. I've never (knock on wood) got a REALLY long delay from an autostart yet, where it made me hold the launch too long.... but I know it could potentially happen.
  7. I had a feeling. My internet sarcasm meter has been faulty lately. No Converter in a GTR.... but again, you might have known that and just been trolling me :gabe:
  8. Well yeah.... but it's not like they are incapable of great reaction times. I have seen the same car cut 0.1xx R/Ts during eliminations at the shootout. It makes sense to stage and launch differently depending on if you are qualifying (looking for ET only) or actually racing in an elimination (or first to finish) Staging for example: I can roll almost an entire foot and keep both staging lights on. If I am qualifying I will BARELY light that second bulb... so I essentially get a 1ft rolling start before the ET counter starts. In eliminations however, I want to be as close to the finish as possible so I will try to roll as far into that foot as I can. Maybe I am not explaining this very well, or maybe you are just messing with me. lol
  9. My favorite part of the video. Pulling so hard that it rips the Cobb Accessport off the mount This was a qualifying pass, not an elimination pass. During Qualification or exhibition passes, reaction time is irrelevant. The only goal is ET. Rather than worrying about trying to time the light etc. it is common practice to not even get on the launch control until AFTER the green, hence producing awful (albeit irrelevant) reaction times.
  10. Where is Kevin R when you need him
  11. That chart was the first thing I found on google images within 10 seconds. While it wasn't entirely accurate, I thought it atleast did a decent job in illustrating my point. In my experience the box should start at 1 year and end at 3-4 year. Again, individual makes or models will shift the box slightly one way or another.
  12. Not all cars follow this chart exactly... but more often than not this is the case: http://media.ed.edmunds-media.com/non-make/carbuying/carbuying_274_600.jpg I personally try to buy my personal cars toward the beginning of the "blue box" (ie. one year old) and sell them before the next big drop (ie, when the car is 3-4 years old) To me, it's not how much I initially pay for a car... it's how much I spent IN RELATION to what I can get out of it when I am done. I can't tell you how many "high dollar" vehicles, I have owned for less out of pocket money than some people spend on a owning brand new shit bag car like a Suzuki or something for a couple years.

    PEMDAS

It's called the Order of Operations, and can be used in any math problem parentheses or not. Funny enough, just taught PEMDAS to my kid the other day. I guess they don't teach that mnemonic now.
  17. If you guys got together to watch it Friday night... like a 9pm ish show, I would make the trip. I'll be stuck at the dealership Saturday during the day though.
  18. http://www.memecreator.org/static/images/memes/2791433.jpg Bitcoin was created out of thin air, and has nothing backing it's value. The USD on the other hand, was not created out of thin air, and technically it has an entire government backing it. The USD previously was on the gold standard, but as pointed out above was switched to a fiat currency (like any other first world currency) If the USD goes to zero, you better be damn good at hunting or farming if you want to eat because you are talking about a total global economic collapse. If bitcoin went to zero, that is precisely the same amount of fucks that the world's economy would give.... zero.
  19. Not sure if anyone saw or heard yet... But the owner of the Izzy car is facing 33 to life for organizing a street race where two spectators lost their lives. https://autos.yahoo.com/news/famed-street-racer-charged-with-murder-after-deadly-l-a--race-184741858.html
  20. How did I forget about those. The good thing about the pump though is... Mitsu recognized the problem and extended the warranty on those to a 10yr 100,000 mile. http://www.evolutionm.net/forums/evo-x-general/705162-awc-hydraulic-unit-warranty-extension-issued.html
  21. 2008s had a timing chain problem, where the chain would prematurely stretch. There is a revised chain that solves the problem. We have one here that I have listed at $19,977 and I could sell it in the $18,xxx range. Fresh timing job from a mitsu dealer on this car as well (Have the receipts $2000 job with new cam phasers and all) http://www.jetautogroup.com/2008_Mitsubishi_Lancer%20Evolution_Cambridge_OH_251728635.veh
  22. According to reports... this is the guy that set the pricing on the new Ford GT: http://www.quickmeme.com/img/c3/c3305497a908aed0e1792f5d6be8bb85b8878081952e9874ad45fe22692451d0.jpg

  24. This is an auto car. NEVER returned your PMs? C'mon man. I just looked back to be sure, and I stopped counting at 10 PMs sent to you, and over the course of that time, you bought another car somewhere else. Since your last PM, I never found one that met all your criteria and price. The three that you linked me that you found were all sold.
