  1. Anthony, is that with the agreed value type coverage with the limited(no driving to work) use restriction, or is a normal policy? I've been wanting to do the mod coverage but my company only has some stupid $1k limit or something and I couldn't stand not driving it to work.
  2. I have them on my cool can, they work just like a regular compression fittion but have an an male fitting on the opposite end.
  3. I only made it through 6 pages of this, and I don't know either of these guys or the specifics other than what has been posted here. I had a friend who went out bar hopping with another guy and they ultimately hit a concrete bridge abuttment and the other guy was killed. My friend was convicted of vehicular homicide and sentenced to 8 years and lost his license for life eventhough he was not driving(the guy who died had a bruise imprint of the steering wheel in his chest). The state is going to try to hold someone responsible if they can to appease the family of the girl. I hope if Brandon is innocent that he is found innocent and can live his life the way he chooses. As to the "change the laws" idea unfortunately the people who write the laws are generally the people who benefit from their use by charging you $200+ an hour...they would be the lawyers. Lastly, I would think that anyone of sound mind would be aware that anything that they post on an internet site would be open to scrutany by not only fellow members but to whom ever wields the sword of prosecution. Whether you believe it or think it's bs, watch "Enemy of the State" and just consider if it "could" be plausible, then live your life as if everyone is paying attention to what you do...because someone is!
  4. Ok, My final post to this thread.....V8 Beast....are You worried about having Your car crushed? He who is pure of heart and free from guilt, shall never fear the punishment. In other words, I'm not worried about having my car crushed for street racing, so I could care less what the punishment is. You never did answer the question about rape, I thought that was a fair analogy to clarify the point I was trying to make and to provide a thought provoking alternative to "It's not fair that they are going to crush my buddies' car after he worked his ass off to save the $20,000 he spent modding his car, just because he was illegally street racing...that's bullshit!!!". Guess it didn't work. And hey, V8 Beast(I would call you your proper name but I don't know it, no disrespect intended), I want you to know this "pissing match" isn't personal for me as it relates to you. Hopefully you feel the same way. I sometimes welcome a friendly exchange as long as it has a semblance of intelligence and has half way decent grammer. This one met all my basic criteria, Thanks!
  5. V8 Beast, I think you took my point not exactly as I intended it...there are 5584 members to this forum according to the main page, I'm 100% confident that "some" of these were born "with silver spoons" as they say. I didn't point any fingers at anyone eventhough I may know who a couple of them are, if not personally, by reputation or from friends of friends. I didin't say that working on your own car made you a better driver, I said " When you have to use a 2x10 and bricks to raise a transmission up into your car you start respecting what you have and you are much less likely to abuse it". You said your friend was accused of street racing, if he was innocent I'm sure a good lawyer could make that go away or reduce it to something lesser. I was talking about dead to rights saw you line up saw you race street racing, you all know it happens, you all know it's unsafe, some of you participate, I did many years ago, and I lost a friend to it. Good, bad or indifferent, there are places that are "more safe" to race than on the street and that's where we need to be. I love to race my car, unfortunately I live atleast 40 miles from any legitimate dragstrip(as far as I know), but I don't say screw it and race on the street. Note I didn't say that having a shop work on your car made you spoiled, I said "When mommy and daddy buy you a car, be it a piece of shit Neon, or a Zo6 Corvette, most kids have little or no respect for it because they did absolutely nothing to earn it." I know this because I have kids and nieces and nephews in the age range of many of the members here 14-30 and this holds true much of the time. You and others disagree with the car crushing opinion...what if the instrument wasn't a car...what if it was a penis, and it was used to rape your wife, girlfriend, daughter, mother, grandmother, whatever? maybe you might look at it differently? anyway I don't come here to argue with anyone, I was expressing my view just as the rest of you do. I don't ridicule others here like many people do, I could care less what you drive as long as you don't hurt me doing it and when I get tired of reading the childish bullshit in many ot the threads on here I log off. Last thing, read the last line of my original post..."That’s just my opinion…I could be wrong." You might not agree with me, but my ancesters died for my right to express my opinion as yours may have as well. I respect your opinion even if I don't always agree with it.
  6. I had a simillar issue with a parts car I bought. I tracked down the original owner, however her husband would not let her help me. The owner of record(last person who registered the vehicle) has to get a duplicate title in the same county that the previous title was issued(atleast in Ohio). I ended up stripping it and selling what was left to someone else for parts. Unless the law has changed, you have to get in contact with the last person who registered the vehicle. Good luck.
  7. I am, sad to admit it, older than 95% of the people on this board. That said, here is my opinion, based solely on my experience. As cars go, most of you 16-35 year-olds are totally spoiled. When I was in high school the guys with the “wicked fast” cars might get into the 12’s. That’s if they had a big solid cam, a double pumper, headers and a dual-point distributor…oh and BFG T/A’s out back. Now all you gotta have is a power programmer to plug in and push buttons. We didn’t have shops to build and tune our stuff, if you had a “fast car”, it’s because you built it yourself. And, unlike some here, I did not grow up with the proverbial silver spoon in my mouth, We didn’t own a bench vice, a grinder, or a floor jack and jack stands…I had a bumper jack, a scissor jack, and chunks of railroad ties for blocks. When you have to use a 2x10 and bricks to raise a transmission up into your car you start respecting what you have and you are much less likely to abuse it, or take the chance of something happening to it. When mommy and daddy buy you a car, be it a piece of shit Neon, or a Zo6 Corvette, most kids have little or no respect for it because they did absolutely nothing to earn it. I street raced back in high school, stoplight drags, we never heard of roll racing, no interstates where I lived. Roll racing to me is a joke, no chassis setup to worry about, downshift and stab it I guess. There are tons more cars on the roads these days, a lot more chances for someone to get hurt. If you street race and get caught I believe that you should lose you license for a couple years, and you should be forced to be present when they crush your car. If you hurt someone doing it, you should go to jail after you watch your car get crushed. If you get hurt or die doing it, I think you got what you deserve. That’s just my opinion…I could be wrong.
  8. Thanks for checking..the search continues.
  9. Hey SLow..the lexan tops are hard to find because I believe only 91-92 got them. I scored a set from the junk yard to put in at the strip. Good luck in your search.
  10. Does it have the original 86 hatch with the third brake light at the top or does it have it in the spoiler or possibly not at all? If it's anything other than the light at the top, is there any rust on the under side of the rear deck? I'm looking for a perfect hatch and they always are rusty around the spoiler mounting hole plugs. Oh...price please.
  11. Welcome. Guess you should post your pics before they accost you. Glad I never had to do this newb intro crap when I joined, next thing you get asked is "how fast is it".. my advice, always lie.."it runs 12's n/a". One last thing..n/a is the only way!
  12. I used to be a Wal-Mart TLE manager ~10 years ago...at the time we converted from patching tires to using the patch-plug combo, never rope style plugs. Then as (obviously) now, we did not repair z-rated tires as a company policy, because as stated many tire companies would void the warranty. However the primary reason you probably already know...liability, they don't want to be sued because someone pushes the repaired tire past it's limits and dies. I can remember on one occasion that three guys came in that were testing cars for Car and Driver magazine and wanted us to repair a rear tire on a Porshe 911. As much as I would have liked to be the guy who helped them out, I didn't want to be the guy who lost his job over it. Not sure if they still do, but Hocking hills used to be one of their frequent testing grounds, was even mentioned in the magazine back then.
  13. I have an 85 Z28 5-speed bone stock and an 82 sport coupe bone stock glass and body(except hood)...carbed small block, auto, some aftermarket parts.
  14. A few years ago I was hired to manage a national chain service center, started on monday training at a different shop, on thursday they told us managers we were closing a ton of shops including the one I was hired for. The Techs found out on friday that that was the last day of business and they were losing their jobs as soon as they packed up all the company assets into trucks..basically no notice at all. I hung around for about 9 months but the writing was on the wall and now all the remaining shops are gone. Hopefully nobody here will lose their job in this.
  15. There used to be a place on Obetz but I never go down there anymore so i don't know if it's still there. Can't remember the name either. They sold new and used custom rims and lug nuts etc.
  16. Thanks, unfortunately I bit the bullet and ordered a brand new one from year one today. I figured it would be easier than having it cleanes and having to worry about the safety aspect when welding it. Thanks for the help everyone.
  17. Thanks for the lead, I'll call them.
  18. Hard to believe nobody knows anyone parting out an F-body. Anyone?
  19. I'm pretty sure I have an almost new(less than 500 miles) original Corvair pump, I could look if you're interested.
  20. I'm looking for a good rust free fuel tank out of an 82-92 Camaro or Firebird for the purpose of installing a sump without having the car apart for days while it gets done. Needs to be clean(rust free) on the inside and minimal rust as possible on the outside. Sending unit does not matter nor does electric pump if it came with one. Appreciate any leads. Thanks
  21. I just spent a month with a career counselor and I have a professional resume..some tips: 1)max 2 pages unless you are in an executive level or scientific position. 2) do not list hobbies unless they pertain to your vocation(race car driver), 3) no cover letter unless exec position...an HR manager will give your resume 15-30 seconds, so it's the resume or the cover letter you choose. 4)do not use sentences, use bullet points highlighting what you acomplished at each position, do not just give the job description. ex: "developed organizational strategy which reduced costs by 10% and increased productivity 17%" 5) do not put "references available on request" they already know this, and as was mentioned, most places never call references unless you have no job history because they know you wouldn't put someone on that list that wouldn't lie for you. Well those are the top 5, I learned that myself and everyone I know had shitty resumes, 90% of people are in the same boat. Good Luck!
  22. I got to meet Rhona Shear in person at a convention in Las Vegas along with the comedian Sinbad...she was hot in person, but you couldn't touch her like you could the Cheetas girls mmm nice.
  23. I'm for the idea of having a place to race closer to home, but I sympathize with the people that live there regardless of their economic situation. If they do build it, expect to be required to run mufflers and for racing to end earlier in the evening. You would probably never see a national event there unless someone bought up a bunch of adjoining property to support parking lots. Race tracks nowadays typically don't get built in the city limits because of these things and ingress/egress issues. Ever been to the Brickyard? Takes forever to get in and out.
  24. Not sure of the name, but I've seen a rat rod magazine at Krogers in Galloway..lots of Betty Page look-a-likes in it. I wanna say I've seen it at Wal-Mart too.
