Buying a truck was the worst experience ever. Set a budget, find the lowest mileage and least rusty truck you can. I see that you mentioned a boat and a car as possible towing items. The other thing to consider is whether or not you can live with a short bed, or do you need a long bed. I was set on a GM 5.3 product, but after not having the resources to find one out of state due to everything in the state of Ohio being rotted out and high mileage I finally decided on a Tundra. The Tundra has enough of a towing capacity for an open trailer, the 6 1/2 foot bed does what I need it to do and build wise they are solid trucks. The downsides are obviously fuel economy (Toyota trucks are not known for great economy). Real world I am seeing like 12mpg on a '05 V8 4WD. The second thing to consider is timing belt service. It's one of the only trucks that uses a timing belt. I ended up with an '05 with 155K on an original timing belt (yikes) for around $11.5 out the door. As far as the other makes, Dodge/Ford/Nissan would be my bottom 3 for sure. My reasons are based on interior quality and maintenance and frankly the details aren't worth wasting keystrokes on.

Craftsman stuff has gotten so flimsy.

TDI owners stripping their cars before turning them in...
Crossle replied to HotCarl's topic in Passing Lane
Even if they did "ok" taking that car, the market would be so flooded with parts that really aren't worth a whole lot. I feel like there aren't that many parts on a TDI that are drastically different to be considered an "upgrade". A majority of people with base model Golf's could likely care less about changing their car, which leaves a ton of parts not selling and people whining that they don't have any room for them. Awesome. -

I saw his comment on "it was actually fun tearing parts off the car". Looks like he will get to experience how much fun it is assembling the car as well. -
Bump - Price drop to $1800 Wandering idle has been resolved Still needs some finishing.
-
I mean 165 in relaxed "shake down" runs is impressive.......
-
Bump Well, I have no option to edit the original post, so below is the update I have. Price remains the same. Front upper ball joints have been installed. Alignment is happening this week. I believe I may have the idle issue resolved, but I am waiting on a part. Also, I have sold the spare blown motor and spare 17" wheels.

Does that safe primarily fit only '07+?

Standing from the outside and being friends with numerous people on the inside, most of which are on this forum. I'll say that I was fairly impressed with their processes beginning with whether a car is kicked to auction or even allowed inside for the initial inspection. We are also talking about California here, they will literally find anything to complain about.

I don't run a front plate on any of my cars. Park at a meter - throw it on the dash. No issues otherwise. Drive like a potato - no front plate/tint/exhaust would all be good excuses to pull me over, but I don't think you would have an issue with a Volt.

I'll probably swing through and say hello.

Wow, nice buy for someone.

Awwww shit.

Hatfield Subaru seems to be the trendy enthusiast dealership, but I personally have had pleasant experiences at Byers Subaru near Sawmill.

Don't let the following statement mislead you to think for a second that I don't like these cars. They are getting a little played out/significantly less exclusive IMO. Seemingly you have a guy that is very talented who built what he likes (See Magnus Walker) and decided to start building them for other people (Unlike Magnus Walker). I think it's a neat business model that he alone is THE guy that installs the kits, but the more and more the vape/stance guys start making all this money producing fancy videos of him doing his thing, it just sorta becomes too mainstream. Nakai is a total badass IMO, preparing 6-8 of his cars to compete in the Idlers 12+hour endurance races in between flying all over the world installing his handwork takes a lot of stamina and motivation.

We cut all brand new rotors on the car on almost every brake job.

Price drop to $2000, won't budge. I'll continue repairs otherwise. Haven't had time to touch it recently.

That throwback picture up top haha!

I will continue to fix things here and there on it, but I figured I would go ahead and list it now in case someone really wants it. The price will remain the same as I fix things although it is negotiable certainly. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/924/r3LoVo.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/923/lx5m95.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/922/O2TU9s.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/921/5wrJ4j.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/921/KLiv1R.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/922/mc40oy.jpg

Not uncommon at all to have faulty part out of the box, best to verify obviously. If it turns out to be a faulty part, best to stick with a Bosch on that one.
-
Love it, got a bunch of the deets from Mikey yesterday after you got back. Seems like a solid buy! Would love to check it out sometime.

I have a Acura 2.2CL with a F20B swap, rust free chassis (Florida car) that I would sell for $2500. Could be fun....... Pretty good junk yard support, Honda aftermarket, sporty-ish

I think your facial expression is the same as mine haha. In all seriousness OP, let us know how it goes/maybe post pics for the peanut gallery.
